  • This whole scene is the heart and soul of Gervas/Merchant comedy.

Pair o bloody genuises, or "alright" as Karl would say

  • liquid. digital. perfection.

  • The best thing about this scene is how Gareth starts shaking his head and getting anxious when David Brent makes his second lanky comment, because he knows the Oggmonster will break down any second.

  • @ytzuigt yep - every little detail is perfect

  • i love when tim always looks at the camera

  • Steve sounds like a Wurzel.

  • Ha! @ Tim at the end there

  • well i dont go around calling myself the mongboy

  • You still keep in touch with Oggy?

  • Hilarious!

  • That glance back from Tim at the end just sums up the whole clip perfectly hahah

  • Nathan.

  • Hideously embarrassing but so fu**ing funny!

  • Smerch FTW

  • 7 people who watches this have bulbous eyes.

  • Steve almost acts as bad as this when Karl has a go....funny stuff

  • in real life Steve acts the same way to that very comment. its prety funny

  • the oggmonster is actually a really good actor

  • "Wha... What is the matter with him?" haha, perfect timing and the way he says it is so funny.

  • Let's grow ourselves a big lanky goggle eyed freak of a son

  • Stephen Merchant, Karl Pilkington and Ricky Gervais are legends

    Funniest Brits alive

  • lets grow ourselves a big lanky goggle eyed freak... loooooollll

  • i bet they're all mates with count fuckula!

  • I never realised Merchant was so tall, I mean ive heard them saying on the XFM shows and podcasts and such but I wasnt expecting that, Looks a great show, I think I need to watch it all.

  • @mattfox14

yeah apparently he is 6 foot and 7 inches. you should watch the whole show :)

  • @mattfox14 WTF you on about. Merchants height is always been mentioned on podcast and the early XFM years. ARE YOU STUPID? Pilkington is constantly battering Steve over his height.

Pft , cant yourself a fan.

  • @JaxxDaemon I know its always mentioned, but I thought they were exaggerating how tall he really is. As Ricky and Steve like to take the piss out of Karls head, which is round, but not a perfect ball shaped orange is it? I thought Karl would make fun of Steves hight even if he was just a tad bigger.

    OK?!

  • @mattfox14 Of course Karl's head isnt an orange...

And the last sentence doesnt make sense, you're probably foreign.

  • @JaxxDaemon Ya and if yer foreign then you shouldnt be on youtube, no foreigners allowed on youtube.

  • hahaha

  • I just,,, I don't... I feel...

Merchant, Gervais and Freeman = legends.

Merchant seems also to be a ridiculously good actor.

  • This tall lanky man is Steve Merchant the producer of The Office.

  • @naifgobory and writer

  • Nathan lol!

  • Dawn is quite fit in her own way...fancy the red lip stick and her hair back

  • smerch looks even more bizzare without his glasses

  • Tims reaction at the end is fantastic

  • ..a bit bulbous...LOL

  • what's your real name?

    ...nathan.

  • reminds me of when karl has a go at him. Karl Ricky and Steve are my comedy heroes, and Steve Coogan. You cant beat british humor.... wish we had it in Spain.

  • @ElBurroSabeMasQueYo I don't see why karl gets so much crap about the shape of his head when the ogg monster is about

  • Look at the goggled eyed freak! Steve, Karl, Ricky = Legends.

  • ha ha Tims face at the end classic

  • Look at Gareths face when he's saying 'lanky goggled eyed freak'

    Hahaha

  • Yeh but i dont go round calling myself the mong boy, lol Brilliant

  • big lanky goggle eyed freak

  • Such a brilliant scene.

    Steve looks really different though.

"there were these kids with big 'eds"

  • This and the Gareth Marenghi scenes are my two favourite from either series...nothing particularly witty in either of them, just pure genius social awkwardness.

  • i dont call u whale do i?

  • lanky goggle-eyed freak

  • Tim's expression at the end is not just the icing on an already wonderful cake, it's a whole extra layer!

  • oggyoggyoggyoggyoggyoggyoggyoggyoggyoggyoggy

  • @OleVanDole Do you still speak to Oggy?

  • @airey01 That was him, just now!

  • Bulbous.

  • poor Steve is so hurt lol

  • LOL

Tim's face says it all, aha!

  • "Is it?"

  • Look at Gareth shaking his head when David says "big lanky goggle-eyed freak."

    Love the Smerch!

  • @amiblueful Yeah, Garreth, while obviously less central to the scene, plays it beautifully. One of this show's strongest points--and, let's face it, innovations, at the time--is the superb realism.

  • @amiblueful hahahaha,i never noticed that, its almost like he was expecting it

  • "Lets grow ourselves a big lanky goggled eyed freak of a son"

It seems David Brent goes back to being Ricky Gervais for personal dig at Steve Merchant who is in character as the Oggmonster, a hint at their real-life relationship working/social... it makes me laugh even more when I think they considered breaking the illusion (the office) to add this in.

One of my favourite moments of the seconds series.

  • @goodtogomofo all it needs is pilkers mumbling a non-chalant rude comment in the background

  • this is such an amazing piece of comedy, hands down one of the funniest things ive seen

  • Gareth on phone: oggi oggi oggi, oi oi oi, oggi oggi oggi, oi oi oi, oggi... oggi..., oggi... ok see ya later mate.

Tim: Gareth do you still keep in touch with Oggi?

Gareth: yeah that was him just on the phone.

  • Nathan LMFAO

  • Polycell.. we'll show you how

  • Tim's glance at the end sums up the show for me - absolutely fantastic.

  • @AndysEdits lol its as if he would say "Did you get that ? "

  • Karl should have been Jimmy the Perv

  • gareths acting is so good in this scene, the way his expressions change. never noticed that till the fifth watch.

  • I love the way Steve says "Bul-BOUS" xD

  • @Braddurs Me too! I love Smerch, him and Gervais are both impressive actors.

  • lets grow ourselves a lanky goggle eyed freak!!!

  • Time well spent

  • Steve is so funny in this clip. First time I saw this I actually cried laughing .... "What is...What's the matter with him?!"

  • love the way Steve says bulbous.

  • Watch Gareth throughout this scene. Terrific acting.

  • Mongboy...haha. Those two are great. Make sure to watch the Microsoft Values clips with these two...hilarious.

  • i genuinely feel sorry for steve here even though he's playing a character

  • looks so funny without glasses haha

  • Aww, Steve's so cute! X3

I wish he would have been in The Office more... he's so brilliant, and this has to be my favourite scene ever. :D

  • "Don't have a go at the eyes, because that is a astigmatism that I've had from the age of five... so that's what makes them a bit bulbous..."

God, I love Stephen Merchant. He was great in Darkplace as well.

  • @3amMMA Love Merchant in Darkplace!

    "God damn sonofabitch!"

  • Stephen should have been in The Office more.

  • But i don't go round calling myself the mong boy.

    GRADE A, 100%, 24 Carat GOLD.

  • their radio show and podcast, killed me. funniest thing i've ever heard. and their shows are up there for me with seinfeld and curb.

  • Does anyone still find that 'head like a fucking orange' line actually funny?

  • @ramejkis i hope not,thats all they say,every clip

  • @ghostwhiskey lol Yeah

  • That is knowledge!

  • hehe I luv how when he says 'bulbous' he looks at the camera and widens his eyes. perfect timing Smerch... <3 him

  • This scene cracks me up every time..

  • I probably spent weeks of my life listening to those too talking to a bald headed chimp.

  • @ArtypNk The Manc twat with a head like a fucking orange!

  • I will remember hairy Chinese kid for years to come. And I will never date any asian, they age badly and that.

  • yeah hes got a head like a fucking orange :P

  • same here.

  • @ArtypNk ditto ( two*)

  • @ArtypNk dont mean the round headed orange?

  • @ArtypNk lmao, i'd probably waste my entire life listening to them talk about shit stuck on the sidewalk.... and not regret it.

  • @ArtypNk with a head like a fucking orange

  • @ArtypNk LOL Karl Pilkington ...ooohh chimpanzee that MONKEEY NEEWS!!

  • @ArtypNk

"As it got older... it got hairier. Turned out they'd been sold a chimp..."

  • @ArtypNk and when ricky or karl have a go at his eyes he gets sooo pissed lol

  • "i dont go around calling myself the mong boy"

    - "well i dont either..i call myself the oggmonster"

"im not gonna call you the oggmonster"

  • hahah the quiet hurt "is it" that the oggmonster says is so good

  • haha after he says they are a bit bulbous his voice goes haha

  • "That's what makes them a bit bulbous"

  • i would really love to see a movie with merch and gervais both writing and doing the lead roles! would be awesome!

  • hahaha his voice at 34.......priceless

  • Stephen Merchant = brilliant.

  • easily the greatest scene in the entire office series

  • Smerch is a really good actor!

  • bulbous

  • just in case people dont know the ogmonster is stephen merchant the co creater of the office

  • love em !

  • Co creater, co writer, co director of The Office.

  • dont have a go at the eyes. hahaha

  • "It's a good name"

    "Is it?"

I love when Og Monster's voice cracks there, as he starts to cry.

  • its much more realistic than the office US. We try too hard its like too obviously fake...although they do have a lot more episodes in the US version

  • I would agree with that, whilst the British one could be passed of as a documentery, the US one is now more like a sit com. Both bloody good though.

  • BULBOUS hahaha

  • Tim looking at the camera at the end.

  • HOLY SHIT!

check out brents shoulders when he says "google eyed freak" they move prefectly!

ive watched this clip far too much. lol

  • listen to his voice when he says " lets grow ourselfs a big lanky google eyed freak"

    hilarious!

    BULBUS!

i dont go around calling myself the mongboy!

    lmfao!

  • Can't you guys just watch both version and enjoy them on their own merit instead arguing which is best? It is possible, you know.

  • "That's what makes them a bit bulbus." LMAO

  • I can't see how the US version can even come close to the original... If there's one thing I'm willing to say the British are better at than us, it would be comedy.

  • British comedy is British comedy and it seams to be more down to earth, dont give a shit and will do anyting

  • OGGY OGGY OGGY, OI OI OI!

  • lets grow ourselves a big lanky goggle eyed freak of a son

  • Comment removed

  • what is... what's the matter with him ahhahaha

  • ive been searching for this for ages

  • One of the best scenes in the series

  • stephen is so much more awesome than ricky

  • what's your real name?

  • ''I didn't call you fatty as soon as I saw you.''

  • no he ain't

  • Thats a good name!

  • considering that was his first time acting EVER, i think he did a pretty darn good job

  • I totally disagree, stephen merchant is fantastic.

He has the perfect twitches and voice change whilst playing this character.

  • @rotz001 i love the way his voice squeaks and stuff its perfect :)

  • calm down mate, there's no need to be offensive...i didn't call you fatty as soon as i saw you...

  • ...Nathan...

  • funniest scene, merchant is the genius of the two, gervais the charisma

  • since the age of foive

  • whats the matter with him

  • "thats what makes them a bit boouulbous."

  • Haha I like his voice going away at "boouulbous" :D too funny

  • LOL At Tims face at the end

  • You're wrong, Tim's facial expressions are spot on

  • You don't get it. Tim's meant to be the foil for Brent and Gareth's zanyness. Ie, hes meant to be normal as serves the purpose of reacting how we would.

  • my fav scene of all time

  • Mine too :)

  • nathan

    that is a good name.

    is it?

    PRICELESS!!! loool

  • Steve is a legend :)
