I've been watchin stock ZR1s (at least the vid says not that I disbelieve) pullin high 10's and one I saw had a timeslip that said 1.7 somethin 60' and now I hear this guy saying 1.7. I was thinking how are these stock cars going 10's when they are clearly advertised as mid 11 sec cars. They are on street tires but the track prep must be exelent. I have a car that won't hook passed half throttle on the street but at a good track I have to pwr brake to get clean my tires, then take off @ wot.

Ugh some ignorant comments on here. This obviously isn't the average viper, probaly some high end model atleast. The SRT10 will only run 11.9 and the best driver in the world won't go more then 5 tenths faster. So for people saying this is cheaper then a ZR1 I believe you're mistaken.

@TiKondaRoga Huh? High-end model? There's only ONE model of Viper, why would you say something silly like that without even bothering to look it up, it's not like it's hard to research. All 2008+ Vipers come with the exact same engine and make the exact same horsepower, the only package available is the ACR package which includes a bunch of aero parts that increase downforce, and would make the car slightly SLOWER in a drag race.

No. It's called learning to drive your car. You can become infinitely more skillful over time with clutch and throttle modulation during launch. There is no "perfect launch". The more you practice, the better you get. It's clear. Trap speeds always tell a cars capability anyways. And 125-130mph traps in the Z06 clearly scream a high 10's car. Same for Viper.

Jamie trapped 130.50 with his stock C6Z on DR for his 10.83 pass as well.

As car guys, we should be pigs in shit to have cars this fast out of the factory. Who could imagine easy 11's with a factory car. I remember Evan Smith ran that 11.98 with a stock C5Z in GMHT and was like HOLY SHIT. Old news today with these new cars.

The viper owner just has to do his gears, change the 3.08 to 3.42 like the ZR1 and then lets see how they run against each other. Another thing is the Viper is more heavy but will kick the ZR1 with 3.42 and is a few grand cheaper. Could still buy a Z06 after buying a Viper. ZR1 is an overprice car. A stock Z06 ran 10.88et. For the price why not just buy a C6 Z06 and then run the same time.

FYI, the '08-10 Viper has an average curb weight of 3,450lbs. For comparison, a '09 ZR1 has an average weight of 3,364lbs. That's comes out to not even 100lbs advantage for the ZR1, so in reality the Viper isn't as heavy as it seems despite what you would think it would weigh with the big V10 and all that.

The next time you try to make someone else look stupid do your research first and make your point valid, or atleast learn how to use proper punctuation and spelling of your sentences. :-p

As much as I love these cars, what gets me is how they have so much displacement along with 10 cylinders and yet are so close to the performance of the Corvette Z06. Now with 600hp I would think these things would go quicker in stock trim than what I normally see. They are rated roughly 95hp more than the Z, have close to a 100 cubic inch advantage in displacement and two more cylinders, yet are only a couple tenths quicker in the 1/4 mile. Hmmm....

That's one way to look at it, but another way to look at it is lbs per hp. Viper 5.70-5.75lbs per Hp. Z06 6.2-6.3lbs per HP. Viper has a less weight per lb. So the Viper would be wut they call in this case "the pound per pound champ" lol. that's why it runs mid 11-to sub mid 11 sec 1/4 miles and the Z06 is at mid to high 11's it should be any faster then that. low 11's is about right. It's just a tick behind the ZR1 yet it's under powered & heavier...hmmm ;-)

The viper's have 3.07 rear end gears, which can make launches a bit tricky. The we track does not help[ either. He said on the DragTimes website that he was not happy with the launch.
