guys, he's not trying to copy jimi hendrix, he's putting his own spin on the song. he's not trying to outdo jimi, he's just doing a tribute to him. and a really good tribute, i think.

SO many people do not get that. A person that does a cover sometimes DOES do it very similar, but Jamie usually doesn't. He is his own musician tho that's for sure. Sometimes so eclectic is his rendition, that an original famous song cannot be recognized.

@ Chronicmentality - upbeat? The pace of the beat is exactly the same, it's just the drumming technique which is different, ie. the left hand is bouncier on this track. The tempo of the beat on the whole is pretty much exactly the same.

It's amazing what a music video can do to some people. They see a fresh-faced youngster doing an old track and assume that they've completely modernised the song.
