Gene said it himself that he never thought of Kiss as a rock n roll band, but rather a rock n roll BRAND. If it weren't for the gimmick they would have ended up with a couple of albums in the bargain bins because there is no way in hell they could have made it on their music alone. Marketing genius? How hard can it be to sell KISS condoms, cock rings, dolls, caskets, and a shit load of other bullshit novelties to complete idiots?

Think of it - if you can get half a million folks to be your "fans", and even half of them buy every silly tricket with a KISS logo stamped on it, you've hit paydirt! Look, I think Gene is probably one of the most unlikable people on the face of the planet, and as far as music goes, he's not even a contender. But he hit something with the KISS-zombies that's stuck.

Beginning in '74, I grew up with the most die-hard NY city KISS fans on the planet! Since the so-called "Farewell" fiasco, ALL of them have turned their backs on KISS. Most of them think that $immon$ is nothing but a media whore. It's too bad - KISS didn't have to go out like this. And Paul is only covering for his bandmate by minimizing the negative impact on KISS.

I think Gene's reality show actually made Kiss relevant again... and his acting was only a small deal mostly in the 80's, and actually he did not embarrass himself; the movies were not half bad at all, like 1986's Wanted: Dead or Alive. So there is no shame there. Also he is getting MILLIONS from that show. So... good for him.
