It's called final destination because it's used as the last stage for just about everything in the series. ni Smash 64, it was very small, and only allowed you to fight master hand on it, In Melee, the last 2 event stages are on it, the final boss of adventure mode (Giant bowser & Giga Bowser) are on it. the Final Bosses of Classic mode, Master Hand, and Crazy hand are both on it. All Star mode, doesn't technically have a final boss.
