Just saw her in Giselle at the Kennedy Center. Stunning! It's strange to hear her say that she doesn't fit as Giselle. For me, she is the best Giselle in the world -- such fluid and natural movement. She doesn't act the part, she lives this role. Gorgeous, beautiful dancer!

ballet is such a hard job... it's almost impossible to be not thin if you practise every day in a professional school

It is not true. I know dancers from dance conservatory (professional) who are not so thin. It is only fame that who dance several hours/day (and don´t eat so much) is thin. But on stage are only the thin so people believe the fame. Actually there are many dancers who are good dancers but they are fat (for dancers it means i. e. 52 kg/164 cm) so they can´t go on stage.

There are huge competition in Russia so there probably can take into ballet school only expectant who are naturally skeletal.

Dancers body is an instrument. No proper body - no stage for dance. Why to sing without naturally beautiful voice? Ballet demands light body and not very bonny at the same time: look at Ulanova, Maximova, Semenjaka - perfect bodies!

If you think tap is better, just watch tap instead of ballet. Personally, I think tap dancing is a shallow and non-expressive type of dancing, but everyone has their opinion. Just like I don't watch tap, you souldn't watch ballet. And, I completely agree with Ninjerina. Dancing is sucha strenuous exercise that is not possible not to be thin if you do it!
