@dreamtowngirl, Al Pacino actually was nominated for the oscars for both The Godfather and The Godfather part II. Only 4 actors managed to be nominated twice for portraying the same role, and he's one of them. His first nomination, fot The Godfather, can be justified by the reasons you say: the way he transformed Michael inside, not creating two separate and different characters, but one alone, as if he WAS in Michael's body. What is surprising is he wasn't nominated for the part III, I agree!
