  • Buy a used XJ for $5000 similar size, reliable, way better overall vehicle and with cheap mods can perform like a Jeep !!!

  • Not enough room. I was considering this vehicle to purchase. My driving has been around town and highway, and it is sluggish getting up to speed (nothing like my mom's grand Cherokee), it is roomy for a small suv, but if I want roomy...My Charger has more trunk space and passenger room!

  • After driving one as a rental car....WHAT A PIECE OF S***. I am not an offroader by any means, but this has got be the worst product Jeep has ever built. It is underpowered, has significant road noise. Chrysler has put more powerful four-cylinders in the frigging neon! I was considering possibly buying one of these to replace my old Saturn....Man was I disappointed. We have the rental for a few days, and I can just say I wish we took another rental..this is sad excuse for a Jeep! IT SUCKS!

  • Nice test. This is what I like to see real testing!! Well done!

  • every time i watch these it impresses me. for that little 4cyl and car frame, that thing seems to go over these trails so smoothly, with little to no noise and minimal rocking. It just glides. I know it's no wrangler or redneck, gas guzzling 4x4, but I don't offroad much and when i do, it's stuff like this. mtn trails on vacation, trails to get to the paintball field, etc. Even if I went with a Wrangler I wouldn't want to beat it on rocks til it was 10 years old. I can't afford a DD and a toy

  • Why must they go so fast on this off-road course... Is it because the patriot will get stuck too easy so they need to the momentum ??

  • i have a jeep patriot, and i am quite surprised on it's offroad capability, especially for a 2wd. it can handle ruts, mud, inclines, declines, and much more

  • I have a Jeep Patriot, its no wrangler, but it gets the job done

  • @surfingrules900

That old Toyota has solid axles front and rear, is built on a frame, and has true 4LO. The Jeep Patriot has none of that. It's based on the same platform as the Dodge Caliber. You're comparing a legendary offroad vehicle with a glorified car. The only stock Jeep in existence that can outwheel a stock Toyota pickup is the Rubicon.

  • i dont like these patriots seems like u have to use all its power just to go over a little bump, not enough suspention flex, i geuss thats why i have a 1996 zj to get the job done

  • @skaterboy52093c A mazda 121 can get over a small bump...U wanna insult and make ur over aged pick up truck look good, then stick to old times bro! Just cause ur poor, dont be nasty! No 1 really needs a true off roader. Even the most off road fanatics would only go off road once in a while... even then, an averadge off roader will do the job! U keep driving ur Gas sucking over weighted and powered, house of a trucktor. Cause ppl know better, unlike ur sorry ass! Skaterboy!

  • At least it has this nice US Offroad spoiler in the front, not like the fucking European versions, wich have a spoiler that ruins attack angle offroad.

  • im gettin one once my gti gets close to 100k...ive been waiting for a jeep thats cheap and good gas milage

  • im thinking of buying one of these next year...just wondering but are the insurance rates on these high for an teen driver?

  • Good choice n a Jeep maybe look into a wrangler or grand cherokee or even the cherokee.

High school my chevy nova would be behind you chevy luv :)

  • SO

    NOT

    IMPRESSED!!

Back in high school I drove a stock POS Chevy Luv 2WD pickup on worse roads than that.

  • yeah but the patriot does it with comfort

  • this is the way all crossover suvs should be

  • Is this car any god with the 2.0 Diesel engine and FD1 ? (Thats the only option for this car in Norway)

  • yes i am in australia with 2008 CDI. with freedom drive 1.

2.0 diesel is the best choice, most torque etc.

Plus its all VW engine and gear train out of golf 2.0 gti diesel (i think)

  • I am thinking of getting this Jeep, it fits my budget and personally like its looks. I am just a student and cant really afford a Hummer or a Cherokee.

    is it worth it?

  • Hi Calamarilover, Yes, IMHO it is worth it! You get a lot for your money, and it is one of the safest SUV's on the road. The 2.4L engine in the 4x4/ off-road suspension trim handles very well in the winter, in the city, on the back roads, and on the highway. It all depends on your own tastes tough. I like it, my wife (and my parents when I visit) like driving it too.

  • hell yes. ive got one. its amazing

  • Im not a fan of this Jeep..i love the other ones..but don't really like the looks of this but it's still a Jeep! lol And by the way Land Rovers suck on the Jeeps nuts :o) 0IIIIIII0

  • Really? This video made you realize you have money to burn? Kudos to you, I guess. I'd personally take a Commander over a LR any day.

  • Wow, you already said that on another video of the Patriot. Loser.

  • If restating a point makes me a looser than so be it. I have owned a few jeeps, Toyota's, and Drive a Disco 2. Believe me there is nothing currently made by Dodge er...Jeep that can hold a candle to either. I will say that with one exception and that is the newest Wrangler/Rubicon. That machine has my praise. Anyone remember the International Scout? Ive got pictures of me upside down in one of those too.... Jeep should not be in the car business.

  • "If restating a point makes me a looser than so be it."

Right on. We heard you the first time. If someone wanted to hear about your Landrover, they'd youtube "mortality101's Landrover." But, alas, no one cares about your Landrover.

  • four wheel drive and it has a lot of power it went through two feet of snow like a pro

  • What a silly looking little thing.

  • just bought one today and love it!!

  • I agree with you there...

the height is a bit of an issue but I have gone off-road where you would really only go with a Landcruiser or the like and I made it out the other side lol! A very good 4WD with a lot of potential I must say :)

  • i like everything but it needs a little more ground clearence i think

  • ya i agree with you but its a heavy car so they had to put it lower to the ground so it didn't end up top heavy and flip as easy

  • That looks like the old XJ Cherokees. I love my 94 Cherokee with the I6 in it. The patriot would be great if it was RWD, unabody construction and a new and improved I6 like the good old XJs. They need to bring back the Cherokee.

  • who ever is driving that, they are really flooring it

  • I think Ill wait for the Gladiator. I would be impressed if it was rear wheel drive with a low range. I could run this course in 2wd. Im sorry if I offend anyone, its just an opinion.

  • oooo ic

  • uhhhhhhhhhhh... no? all NEW jeeps are FWD, because jeep sold out. hell, the wrangler is the only thing that's even a solid axle jeep anymore. that independent crap is b/s.

  • you commented on the wrong person. i didnt say anything about that

  • and plus i heard that the patriot is front wheel drive?? is that true because if it is than thats sad for a jeep

  • Yes it is front wheel drive

  • nah im just saying the liberty is way more of a jeep than this. obv the wrangler is more off road capable, but youd be suprised by the liberty.

  • Well your brother is VERY FOOLISH!! the CRV is one of the best cars on the road for 2008. The jeep patriot was just named WORST car by numerious car magazines. Seriously..you bought a piece of crap

  • This guy is absolutely correct, I don't know why he is getting thumbs down.

  • not an off roading vehicle. this one is based off of the new dodge economic peice of shit calliber. a real jeep is a liberty or wrangler

  • AINT off road...

  • that vehicle wouldnt last 3 minutes in the Austrlian bush. all this is is smoke and mirrors

    dirt roads big deal

  • The Patriot might be Trail rated, but only for the US market. In the European version you got such a terrible frontend, that you cant even attack the smallest hills. Try for yourselve to check out the difference.

  • Not sure as to why all the reviews for the Patriot are so negative. It is a wonderful vehicle for what it is, which is a small SUV with decent off road capability. Will it go rock climbing? Hell no, but it will leave the CR-V, the Escape, and the RAV4 sitting on the side of the road while the Jeep goes out and has some fun.

  • @dadsbabypu Doesn't rock climb :'( So sad, haha It's ok, I need it to go through mud :D It's a really good SUV, in my opinion. :)

  • this is the shit but innacurate the patriot trail rated can handle so much more than this the 4x2 stock can do this

  • Yes, I am full of shit, after a big meal. After all, what's a steak dinner without the eventual release of feces?

As for the icy hill, sorry you're quite wrong, I speak the truth.

  • each time i see the jeep patriot im falling in love with it more & more.

  • An excellent video! As a Patriot owner, I'm amazed at how nice it handles, as well as it's capabilities in the snow. It felt great going up a steep, icy hill that a new F150 with the FX4 package couldn't even get away from the bottom, and I don't even have the Trail-Rated version, I use Freedom Drive I.

It's a great vehicle, no matter who you are, with a mix of some of the best features and capabilities available. And at a great price that can NOT be beat!

  • excelente

  • They haven't sold many at all, in fact if it weren't for rental companies this vehicle would be considered a failure. Honda sells more CR-Vs in one month than Jeep sells Patriots in about 4 or more.

  • CR-Vs Been around a while. New things take time to adjust to. Negative crap from those no never drove/or biased against it never helps... Everyone has different taste, and budgets. Some pour out money because they can, others research, learn for themselves, then "hey this is a great product". Time will tell. It can be rented? Give it a spin. So what, Toyota, Audi and just about every American and import vehicle have been available for rent. Some models are carried because they are popular.

  • CR-Vs are proven, and immediately received unanimous praise when it was released in 1997. Since the Patriot is based off of the Caliber, which is a miserable vehicle, the Patriot will suffer the same fate as the Caliber which is poor sales, awful reliability, and abysmal resale value. Do not even get me started on interior quality.

To everyone considering a Patriot, check the reliability data from CR and the reviews from numerous other magazines. You are better off w/ a used CR-V or RAV4.

  • Despite a review on a certain site, probably by a heated leather seated $60k overrated import driver who never even sat in a pick-up, had to say about it, the handling is good and the ride on-road is nice. Nicer than the Caliber, nicer than an HHR, and much nicer than my '05 Dakota 4x4 which I thought was not bad at all for a 4600lb truck. The CVT with the 2.4L is not bad, and you can get a lot under $24k. I'm tall and comfrotable, definately good room for several adults and my son's carseat.

  • cars wouldn't make t in here! hahaha!

  • No match for a 1st gen 5 speed Kia Sportage. I mean come on, the Sportage has over 8" of ground clearance. Plus shorter wheelbase, lighter, hella cheaper. Throw some 15X7" steelies on a Sportage with some 30X9.5" tires and you have a very capable vehicle.

  • i hope youre kidding.

  • No, I'm not. I'll spend $6995 or $7995 on a 2002 Kia Sportage with 60,000 to 70000 miles on it way before I'll spend $19995 or $21,995 on a Jeep Patriot anyday. I'd throw some 15X7 wheels on it and some 30X9.5 BF Goodrich AT and go anywhere that Patriot goes. The Sportage has almost as much interior space and cargo space too.

  • ok. KIA = shitty chink manufacturer

    JEEP = great AMERICAN manufacturer

    You're an idiot.

  • Are you really calling this person an idiot? There is no need for racial slurs, it makes you sound like uneducated white trash which probably isn't too much of a stretch.

Have you checked Chrysler Corps financials recently? Reality check for you, Chrysler is in the toilet, their products are terrible and woefully unreliable and have huge incentives to even move their junk vehicles. Most end up being fleet vehicles for rental companies.

  • I didn't mean for any racial slurs. That's your own interpretation. And besides, must I mention that the majority of car owners are MORONS? Just because something is popular within the majority, doesn't necessarily mean that there's something good about it or that everyone has to agree upon it.

And by the way, you should be careful with your words "white trash" is a direct racial slur. Fucking hypocrite.

  • I fully understand that because something isn't popular doesn't mean it isn't good. Chrysler is NOT making anything competitive and that is why they are failing. Every new product they have has been a failure with the exception of the 300 which has an awful interior.

  • So the use of the word "chink" isn't a racial slur and you just didn't mean to say it? That isn't my personal interpretation, that is like dropping the N bomb. Since I am caucasian I can call someone white trash, I did not call YOU white trash. I commented that your slur makes you SOUND like white trash, not that YOU are white trash.

  • "in the toilet" Can be applied to everything finnacially nowadays. Too long too much has been given with little in return. Half of you go 75,000 in debt, past due, behind on a 5BR one resident home, along with an overrated overpriced car. Reality, GMC in the deep-end, drifting on subsidiaries. Ford isn't doing well either, in fact they have received money from GMC I've read. Never had problems with the 3 vehicles I have owned, still own one (wife's car), and only traded to other Chryslers/Jeep.

  • Honda is not in the toilet, they just had two record months in a row even with the economy being so soft.

Chrysler is about to go bankrupt and I would never own a vehicle from a company that has laid off as many workers as Chrysler. They are shutting down plants, idling plants, and still not producing a competitive product. Take the Sebring for example, they are ALREADY working on a redesign since it was such a bad attempt. Chrysler is hands down the worse American automobile manufacturer.

  • Really? Patriot has 9" inches ground clearance, and a 103" wheelbase, (plus a lifetime powertrain warranty). As for interior, well the Sportage does seem a good deal larger. As for me, I'm enjoying the Patriot I JUST got! Can't wait to really go off-road beside a large torn up dirt lot I test-drove it in.

  • Remember when you go off-roading don't get too serious in that Patriot. It does have 4wd, but it does not have 4wd low. That is an additional feature you have to have put in from the manufacture. Any real mud and your stuck.

  • Research... would do your brain good. I have a 4x4 TrailRated Patriot Sport. It is active AWD, with low 19:1 gearing in off-road mode, and 4-Lock. Yes it is a different transmission with an independent low gear when you chose to get those features. All the safety and extras still has it cheaper than any other less capable SUVs. The higher clearance only with this particular package, and was parked on the dealership lot, not special order. I know it's not a Wrangler Rubicon, HMMWV,or crawler.

  • great off-road driver and great cameraman.....great video!!

  • The Manual is rated at 2688kg in the UK which is about 6000lbs, the auto at 3500kg 7716lb. Most people will not tow more than the KJ's kerb weight at 2140kg (4717lbs) but that will still allow it to tow nearly every Caravan on sale in the UK as well as car transporters and animal transporters. The Patriot has received bad press in the UK for it's low 1500kg limit. LR Freelander 2 tow limit is 2000kg. SUV's are widely used for towing in the UK.

  • Cherokee (Liberty) CRD Auto weighs 2140kg empty and is rated to tow 3500kg (7716lb) in the UK. So small boats, caravans, horse transport boxes, cattle boxes etc. Patriot CRD weighs 1645kg empty and is rated to tow 1500kg in the UK.

  • Things are a little different in the UK, the KJ is a large engined medium sized SUV by our standards and is usually bought by males and families with trailers to tow and light off road work. With the Patriot Jeep UK is trying to attract the smaller estate car owners, very few will go off road but will offer better traction in our winters.

  • The KJ is called Cherokee in the rest of the world so you will have to get used to it as this is a global site. On price and size in the EU my comparisons are correct. Off Road the new Freelander 2 outperforms the Patriot but is a fair bit more expensive and the diesel has more output. I still bought the Patriot though. UK Price Cherokee $48000 Patriot $38000.

  • How Freelander 2 can surpass the Patriot on off-road, if it does not have even demultiplicateur (so-called low gear)? Besides on 10mm (0,4in) a smaller clearance and more worst geometrical passableness(capability)? (Disregarding, that approach angle at Freelander on 1,5 is more).

  • tractorlandoverboat

the best in class off road is a land rover discovery 3

It not the truth. Discovery is not the competitor to the Patriot! His competitors - Liberty, Dodge Nitro... However Departure Angle Discovery = 29.6, Departure Angle Patriot = 34,2! It pleases. And in the segment "compact SUV", Patriot - the best. Even it is better than Freelander.

  • The Dicovery 3 competes with the Grand Cherokee on price equipment and size in the UK. The Liberty (Cherokee) has few rivals for, size, towing, low ratio etc. Kia Sorento being the clsest. The Patriot rivals the CRV, X-Trail, Freelander.

  • I have the Patriot CRD and like it a lot. I also have a 2006 Cherokee (Liberty in USA) for off road work and pulling trailers. The Patriot is a far better drive on road but that's were it will stay apart from the odd wet grass field. For the price there is no competition in the uk shame about the low towing limit though.

  • All in all. This truck doesnt look so bad. I give an 7 out of 10. It looks capable enough for the casual off-roader. A good challenger to the Freelander from Rover(and probably more reliable than the Rover hehe)...Not Bad. But I'll stick with my Grand Cherokee.

  • MPG of the LR is a bit lower at 37.7 but still great relative to other suv's with this type of capability(including the patriot)

also in the LR u get better acceleration (by 0.5 sec) to 62..and u get an extra 20 bhp and 66 lb ft of torque, coupled with terrain responce and independant suspension comes in great offroad. to be fair..the patriot does have a higher top speed (by 5mph) and a marginally bigger boot..

so i'd go for the LR..

  • price difference isnt to big either 17.5K for jeep patriot(pounds) 19 K for LR freelander (pounds)

    both base models

  • i supose the only real comparison would be landrover freelander then...small but with proper offroad-ability similar mpg 2..only an inmch more ground clearane on the freelander..better looks..and technology from the LR3 and range rover..which does make it more competent off the road AND on the road

  • My G/F just picked up the "Patriot North" and loves it. She didn't want one to go off-roading in but some of the extras you get with the off road package would have been nice( skid plates, tow hooks that kind of shit.) It is the PERFECT vehicle to get around town in shitty weather and still get good mileage.

  • This is an awful car for all of you jeep buyers my name is johnny andrews and Im a car journolist the problems with this car is that the petrol is very thirsty,it cant go off-road, and its loud not like a ferrari a tractor this is jeep's worst(sorry jeep for the chrtisim

    thanks johnny

  • Do they even have Jeep in Monaco?

If you don't like the engine, blame Hyundai. They are the ones that designed it.

  • it gets 25MPG wich is better then a small car

  • I blame the Germans. The YJ and the TJ were still good, but these new cute utes that they're slapping the Jeep logo on are ridiculous! Even the JK is becoming borderline cute ute.

  • this is a piece of shit im restoring a 81 cj7 right now and come thirty years from now these jeeps will be long gone jeep should just quit while they still have some respect

  • yes it does idiot

  • I hate this thing. I own a 97 grand limited with the 5.2, It's a good vehical. This thing is a low rider, and there is no articulation, it puts wheels in the air like its going out of style.

  • quote..."trying to compete with the CRV, Rav 4 and other sport-ute's." Jeep should always LEAD not follow, it has always in the past set the standard.

I've had a '96 Cherokee Country and now a '98 Grand 5.9L, looks like the Patriot is trying to get back to the roots of the Cherokee and I applaud that. I would be inclined to own a Patriot. The Compass however is a fraud.

  • jeeps' first mistake was getting rid of the cherokee, it was a solid built rig and had a solid 17 year run. the newer jeeps are chrystler built not jeeps. the wrangler is the last of a dying breed.

  • jeep has forgotten its roots and sold their soles to crysler its not a jeep thing its a crysler thing

  • While the shown terrain is not the Rubicon trail it is MUCH more than the average SUV driver will ever do. The Patriot is for folks that, IMO, want a good looking 4WD, that is better on gas, affordable, and has more offroad ability than the average small SUV. If you want more offroad ability there's always the Wrangler.

    Cheers,

    John

  • Nobody says it is the best vehicle on the market however Patriot is a huge success for 2 reasons:

    1) Great gas milage

    2) Alot of off-roading ability for the money

    Good job jeep!

  • Let's look at Daimler Chrysler history! It was the same platform as the dodge neon, to the PT Cruiser, and then to the jeep compass, that led to the dodge caliber and now the Jeep Patriot! Jeep needs to break off in a different corporation!

  • This track is made just for this jeep! Also it needs more ground clearance, it bottomed out several times!

  • Yeah, go ahead and by the LR. I'll buy 2 Patriots and a boat load of accesories for them and still have money left for lunch plus I'll be getting 30+ mpg's doing it unlike the LR at about 18 mpg on a good day.

  • Jeep should've thrown live axles on that thing... Then we would be talkin! :D

  • add some music this is boring

  • If you're talking about Toyota 4Runner, Land Cruiser, or Rav4, you must be kidding! there is no COMPARISSON! Only Jeep can give to the driver this awesome control and off road driving! Toyota is beauty but weak, Jeep is legendary and in some times is more cheap and better

  • Atl last, Cherokee become alive in Jeep spirit, by less than 20.000... There's no Liberty that remplaces the Cherokee, and there is no Compass that have the Jeep brand spirit. Finally a vehicle of Jeep that keep moving the old concept of a light Off-Road SUV

  • That isn't a jeep. There's a CJ-5 out there somewhere rolling over in it's grave.

  • man, i wouldnt abuse my old toyota 4x4 like that.. what makes them think that i will buy a $30k (assuming) jeep and blast through trails like that?

  • Dumbass ... it costs 14,000 American or 18000 Canadian.

  • okay, 14k... im sorry, i dont follow up on these vehicles... i have a life.

besides its not a toyota, so the difference between 14k and 30 is what you pay for service at the shop :P

  • we're getting one too :)

  • how the does it look like a caliber you people dont no what your talking about

  • and? whaddaya think?

  • dodge caliber. lol stupid its a new cherokee called patriot

  • Libertys are called Cherokees outside North America

  • One thing realy bad about those jeep is that we have to wait so long before getting it! I live in Québec. My father baught a jeep patriot on the april 6th and we're not even sure to get it before july! Something wrong here!

  • ...its a jeep?

  • looks like a beefed up PT Cruiser

  • looks cool. my parents are thinking of getting it

  • So remind me, what exactly is the difference between the Patriot and the Compass?

  • The only good true jeep is the wrangler, it is the only Jeep with both solid axles and a true frame....the rest are beefed up mini vans

  • they should have beefed up the suspention a little more other than that it did ok, but ill stick with my 98' wrangler TJ.

NOt that i dont like it. hell maybe you can mod it up to offroad specs

  • Check out the new 4-door Wrangler Unlimited - Steel Blue Metallic video on my page!!!

  • I miss the old days of jeep where they had the "wrangler" ( Tj ) cherokee / grand cherokee, no need for anything else. like one other person said its becoming to clsterd

  • Jeep should kill the Commander and the Compass. Unnecessary clutter in the line-up.

The Patriot is nice, cute, reminds of the ol' Cherokee. In this video, a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice could have gone everywhere this Patriot went ;-)

  • Yeah, looks like the old Cherokee but only has a 4 cylinder engine! They should just make the old Cherokees again, but with the same engine as the Wrangler, just like they used to.

  • With gas over $3, that 4 cyl looks pretty good. Modern fours are more powerful than sixes from the 70s and 80s. Modern sixes can put out 250 or 300hp, like older V8s. We need to get over old prejudices. Four cylinders are good and diesels are even better.

  • Well then, they should put in the 6 cylinder 3.8L engine like the modern Wranglers use. I have a 99 Cherokee and it used the same engine that the 99 Wrangler did, a 6 Cyl inline 4.0L. The 2.4 L 4 Cylinder in the Patriot is fine for suburban SUV use, but just won't put out enough power for any serious off-roading. I don't have any problem with diesel and I'm not talking about pulling engines out of 70's muscle cars, it's just that the Patriot is underpowered.

  • uh 4cyl is fine for offroading!!!! I have a 4 cyl jeep yj on 33" tires and its power is the same as the 6 cyl 4.0 offroad, the right gearing in the diffs is what makes up for it. So engine power is irrelavent when talking offroad unless its like massive huge tires with stock gearing.......

  • I agree so much..

  • If you compare this new Patriot against the latest "old Cherokee" like "Car @ Driver" as in their May2007 issue at page 144 , you will agree that the Patriot is as good and better than the old Cherokee was.

Please read that Short Take in Car and Driver on page 144. Then report back your thoughts ;-)

  • I'll have to check that article out.

  • The numbers of cylinders dont mean shit, discplacement does. If u have a 4.0 4 cyl or 4.0 6cyl it doesnt change a bit in power output, only the way how it delivers it. Since im European i know what im talkin about.

Btw, an average 3.0 diesel-engine in Europe has a poweroutput of +/-250hp with a consumption of 7-8liter/100km, why use a fuelguzzling v8 engine??

  • Yes but it's not a matter of a 4.0L 4cyl vs a 4.0L 6 cyl, it's the matter of a 2.4L 4 cyl vs a 3.8L or 4.0L 6 cyl. The 2001 XJ Cherokee had a 4.0L 4 cyl engine with 190hp and 225 ft/lb torque at 3000RPM. The Patriot has a 2.4L 4 cyl engine with 172hp 165 ft/lb torque at 4400RPM. The 2007 Wrangler has a 3.8L 6cyl engine with 202 hp and 237 ft/lb torque at 4000RPM.

  • Oh ok.

BTW, do cherokee's in the states exist with dieselengines like Europe

  • Unfortunately they don't. They haven't made the XJ in the states since 2001. Some Liberty's were available in diesel. I wouldn't mind a biodiesel Jeep, but that hasn't really caught on in the states.

  • Cherokee or any jeep for that matter :-)

  • nice little suv...i want a green one! with fog lamps!

30 mpg is a good for a 4x4,i'll be driving to mexico soon in this little tank

  • Jeep design is going down the drain here. Why make a "compact SUV" if you've already got the Liberty and a overgrown Caliber? I can understand if they're trying to keep the Commander rear end and length, but why not just refer them to the Wrangler 4 door? I would think they'd be trying to stay away from competing with the Nitro, not go after it like the Commander's been doing with the Durango. The Commander already lost that fight , and now they're discontinuing it.

  • They are not discontinuing the commander

  • Then take a look at MSNBC at look up story 17963744, notice where it says "He said the Commander has eaten into the Grand Cherokee's market, forcing Jeep to end production of the Commander." I'm not hating on Jeep, I love 'em, but their losing their touch here with styling. Copying what Chrysler and Dodge produce doesn't help.

  • Chrysler is messing up the Jeep lineup and design.

  • lol, then explain why the interior is nearly identical

  • i don't know what dodge calibers you've been looking at, but the one's that i've seen look nothing like that, and the interior is different too...

  • Well, for starters the Caliber, Compass, and Patriot are all based off of Chrysler's GS platform.

Use google image search and look for "Patriot interior"(1st image) and "Caliber interior"(5th image). Almost identical. I would post the URLs... but this is YouTube.

  • looks too much like the commander...

    im getting confused

  • lol its not like a dodge caliber at all

  • I know its a JEEP, kinda...but could they just take all those Michigan license plates off since they are in Arizona!

  • Is that the Coves trail in AZ? If you sell your diesel in it here in the US (like you do in europe) that will be my next vehicle (actually the wife's). If not, it will be another Diesel Volkswagen (because we live so far, we need better fuel economy). I currently have an '05 Rubicon and a TDI VW. If you are ever near Flagstaff and want to off-road or want to talk to a Jeep consumer, look me up.

  • It's just a Dodge Caliber that can go off-road :/

  • nice suv

  • Looks like a nice vehicle. We will consider a Patriot as a possible replacement for our Forester.
