@marcmody good question... and I don't know, but these kings do eat a lot of small monitors. They also eat the red tailed racers (Gonyosoma), copperheaded racers, and other rat snakes. I thought the claws would be too strong and sharp also, but, once he got the monitor down inside - he was all smiles.
@marcmody No, snakes have very strong stomach walls, some eat antelope (horns and all) and no harm is caused. Horns and claws are digested along with everything else.
@chadley6916 The king killed it. It brought it up twice while I was there - and it looked like it was because the monitors front left leg and claw were getting up by the head. The snake probably could feel the claws - they are quite long and strong. He couldn't get the position right to swallow it down with both front legs folded down against the body, hiding the claws. That's my guess anyway - I couldn't see anything else that would have made him spit it.
do ur cobras ever fight? and what happens if a cobra bites a cobra? lol

It says "Eating" huh.. and yet it cannot swallow.. what a waste.. that monitor should have enjoyed life had it not been fed to that ambitious snake.

@marcmody Usually they eat head first so when they eat down it pushes any claws or anything downwards so doesn't poke them
Pythons do it too and is why can eat horned animals like antelope

I wouldn't like to be a snake. Must feel like a whole cheese fondue inside every time you eat something.. only worse. ;)

Those 3 King Cobras are ridiculously large, and that lizard is huge also, must take a long time for him to eat it all.

@Crastics07 it was not an adult water monitor lizzard.
