  • LOVE that strat!!! oh and your teaching...big fan

  • Great video!

  • i want to go to berklee really bad, im 16 and im trying to practice as much as possible to make sure im good enough this will really go a long way thank you

  • I'm starting to learn these scales and this is the first video I like and understand but I really wish I was in Boston so I could enroll in your school.

  • I am a pianist but use guitar for writing sometimes so I only know a very little about it other than a few basic chords. I thought I'd like to take it more seriously and so watched this vid. Thanks for sharing, love your playing and the friendly and approachable way in which you teach. I will never be a guitarist I don't suppose but it's nice to learn anyway.

  • Nice strat!

  • Thank you great lesson!

  • this is a must see for all up coming berklee students...great video thanks for posting

  • This man is Steve Vai

  • Great Teacher I enjoyed studying with him back in 87 88

  • agree, good teaching!

  • great licks.

  • well done

  • splendid!

  • you the best teacher man

  • I'm a guitar teacher. Good job nice work.

  • yes very nice vid sir

  • does anyone know how to play Am(9th fret)

  • @machar47

I don't completely understand what you're asking, but the minimum you need to get an Am is the root (A - duh) and the minor 3rd which is C. You can add a 5th (E) or a 7th (G) to flesh it out a bit more too.

None of this really has anything to do with the 9th fret (other than the E on the G string maybe) but if your other chords are close to the 9th fret, this will help you build an Am nearby

  • Good lesson! Book marked.

  • Thanx so much for this lesson!! Agreed with

MrRockmeister1 there- "You are not only a great player but a gifted teacher as well." Thank You so much- a decent teacher makes all th difference :) !!! :D :) Keep 'em coming!!! :)

  • About berlklee there is all kind of courses available online and it's really cool!!

  • nice face-melting tone

  • HAHA i watched this and memorized the first 2 licks about 20 min before a jam session with some buddies of mine... they thought that I made a deal with the devil in order to play some smokin' blues LOL pretty damn fun great vids! instantly subscribed!

  • this is a graet video man but could you please send me the tabs?

  • god i would love to go to berklee. alas i'm in cali and its a shit load of money to go...

  • berklee college of music is in boston..

  • @angel6746 well then practice like crazy and get a scholarship, thats my goal

  • @angel6746

    go to MIT :)

  • i could use a little tab - i really like it but a little slower or a little tab would be great!

  • Just watch it over and over and use your ear. You can't always have a tab crutch for everything. It's in the 5th position or A. Look where his fingers are going... if you are in tune and it sounds wrong, look closer and keep trying.

  • @DarthKazi Couldn't agree more. you have to learn how to feel the sounds you make.

  • hey..what effects did he use in that vid lesson?? may i know it sir?

  • none. maybe a lil reverb.

  • @weaponx29 its a guitar effect called "hollow body" or "T bone" effect. great for blues

  • @weaponx29 that's just pure stratocaster tone there... gotta say if you're looking for the essential blues guitar you gotta go for a strat... or an ES 335 idea... (ive got a Douglas dual cut-away with gold hardware, jumbo frets, and a trem.... gotta say its a really nice tone, and it cost under 400 bucks.... its more what you prefer, but seriously, you cant go wrong with a strat)

  • Alot of the teachers on youtube can play very well but can't teach at all. You are not only a great player but a gifted teacher as well. Thank you for these licks.

  • I graduated in Berklee as an English. And it rocks!!!

  • I LIKE MIKE. Thanks for putting this stuff out here for us beginners. I'm a beginner anyway. Mike makes it easier for me to grasp than a lot of folks I've had try to teach me.

  • I have really enjoyed all your lessons plus you have great style. Hope to see much more from you.

  • thanks for sharing
