Can you please explain how this engine works. I understand how the flame heats the air which expands and piston but that where i'm confused. Seems to me as son as max extension is reached, the engine would stop. Am i missing something here?
@annihil8ted you are right on the first part, the heat expands the air, forcing it thru the little port into the cylinder with the piston pushing the piston toward the end of it's stroke. However, as soon as the heated air gets into the cylinder, it begins to cool and caused the air to contract and pulls the piston back toward the hot end. The flywheel has stored energy from the heat stroke now it helps force the air back toward the hot end and the cycle starts all over again. HHO95667
@annihil8ted The restriction or 'port' provides a restriction to the airflow back and forth and causing a tuning affect that allows the air the cool or heat longer on each side of the port.

no, it is a transfer of pressure back and forth between the 2 sides. Heating and cooling also contribute to this wave of pressure. Maybe it is the same as sound waves, but at a very low frequency.
The test tube on the left and the glass cylinder/graphite piston are glued into the aluminum piece using JB Weld epoxy. The glass cylinder/graphite piston were purchased from Airpot here in US. After both glass pieces were glued into the aluminum piece then the aluminum piece was bolted to the black upright aluminum extrusion. HHO95667
No, only the piston you see in the glass cylinder on the left. There is pretty good explanation of how this engine works below in the comments

does this have a displacer piston

@hho95667 Ahh i see now, the exit is actually narrowed before the piston. Is that necessary? What is the purpose?

how much is the diameter of the cylinder..and the piston.....??????
extraboy207 1 year ago
@extraboy207 I got the piston and cylinder from Airpot. the piston is approx 9mm diameter. HHO95667

What is the diameter of your restrictor?
Hydroxybenzeen 2 years ago
The restrictor hole between the 2 glass cylinders is approx 4mm diameter

These actually use sound waves in place of the displacer?

Could you give me a clue as to the two glass tubes and how they are together.... I'm at a standstill and my project is due in two weeks....

how did you construct it, how did you make the poston. How is the pressure exchanged in the tube?

i am juz curious on the test tube. time will come that the test tube will reach its limit to withstand heat, isn't it?
what's the diameter and lenght of the test tube by the way?
And with regards to the object/material inside, what is its effect to the intire system?
