Good vid, but you should replace the newsreel footage with clips of US forces overseas and the riot cops spraying OWS and students. This song should be the US national anthem.
alright so the other day, i brought up the topic of punk music somewhere on the internet. i named three of my favorite punk bands, the dead kennedys, the ramones, and the clash. then this dumbass comes back at me with a comment, "you dont know punk! the ramones and the clash arent punk!" *facepalm*
damn clampdown. i have never purposely went to jail. in fact i purposely avoid such yet not to any resisting arrest charge. one of the "guards" accused me of this. idiocy. i go thhe Way of Truth, i do not lay stupid games, like putting myself in jail etc. with many more eyes watching, not as bad at volusia county compared to the guantanamo miami dade county jail
Any film editors out there wanna remake this video with MENA footage? There's tons of video from the ground form Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Jordan, already on YouTube . . .
Sdayonk, Oh man you saw the Clash in Detroit in 82, you lucky dog. I love the Clash and they are one of the only super groups that I didn't get a chance to see live. But the Clash songs live on today like Working For the Clamp Down. Peace.
I saw them at the Masonic Temple in Detroit in August 1982 and this song brought down the house... That was the greatest moment in Rock 'n Roll I was ever blessed enough to witness...
Just awsome!!!

@grrd94 This song is about War & Factory work in U.K. / U.S.A. in 1950-1980's (Industrial Age).

@935323 Yep!
I blogged this MF -- I'm 46 and was a total Clash head in the 80s'. And Joy Division, etc. etc.
Cut and paste and Google to see how I used it in a Civil Rights context, peace.

"In these days of evil presidentes
Working for the clampdown,
But lately one or two has fully paid their due for working on the clampdown."
Indeed.
RIP, Joe.
