  • a lot of what he is sayin is true but he is only looking at one side of the coin... a side that is often overlooked but still does not depict the full picture. There is a lotta hip-hop and rap out there which I dont like but there is also a lot that I cherish made by some of the artists that were showed in this video which this guy portrayed as bad influences even though some of their music is very personal and inspirational pieces which many can relate to.

  • Yea this is true... and everyone agrees. So what! This is why your success is low... you need more haters brotha... However this is great work.

  • INSTANT CLASSIC

  • Sad but true......

  • Whats the name of that song?

  • Agree with this drop, but what do you mean when you say, 'we will win'?

  • eh i agree with most of what u said but 2pac never promoted violence; of course he has diss songs but there were reasons and they werent all nessessary voilence

and also people need to understand when music is JUST entertainment they wouldnt go around shooting people for fun- like igonorant shit- Jay Z

i agree with some of what u said but u have to be really stupid to go do crimes bc/z what u herd on a record

  • ethans789, I gotta disagree there. I've been a 2pac fan since D.U., but I can't say he didn't contribute to the marketing of violence. He had a lot of socially conscious subject matter throughout his career, but he very much contributed to the promotion of violence before his death. No rapper intends to incite violence, but marketing it with the music is definitely promotion. One doesn't have to be "really stupid" for a record influence actions, just young and impressionable. Peace.

  • well 2pac towards the end of career at most just promoted violence against certain indivuals even on his darkest albulm which was his last he a conscious song "i see bloods and crips looking for a better way...." -krazy

like if u listen to a song were biggie talked about killing somebody would you really pick up a weapon and go out to kill someone? thats just plain stupid

  • I hear you on that, but him playing violence towards his enemies lays the mentality that violence takes care of enemies. Again, he had good things to say, but his need to sell records overshadowed it at the end of his career. I guess the better question is: Are there enough "plain stupid" people out there to consider taking some responsibility? You feel me? I mean, fake thug rappers birthed a whole culture of fake thugs everywhere. Irresponsible marketing can have a huge impact.

  • Theres another aspect of it to. Thug life wasnt about going around it killing it people, it meant "the hate you give infants fucks everybody" , which was also true. Even if he did give off a violent image that person was to ignorant to see what his music was about

  • Nah, see, I'm with you on all that. You and I see eye to eye. I'm just saying he had both good and bad, but the good does not negate what he did wrong, only compensate. That's all I'm trying to say. But how many pseudo fans of 2Pac share his stress of social unrest, rather than a *thug nigga* facade, and wear his t-shirt and quote lyrics as if they were bible verses without even understanding he believed the opposite than the image his business portrayed. You dig?

  • Lol honestly im not sure what you were trying to say with that

  • Haha! Yeah, I guess I was just letting my fingers type. I meant there's a lot of people who were influenced by the tough gangster image more than the social commentary in his lyrics. His "ride on our enemies" mentality did influence impressionable listeners to adopt that mentality.

  • Lol I guess, but that would seem more like the dickriding 2pac fans

  • Ha! Agreed.

  • @drmcfake I really loved the insightfullness you shared on this comment here. I struggle in my own explanations to educate others in the fact that most who listen do not hear what the artist is directing you away from. Violence sells as does sex. I cant remember one song that never talked about condom use, yet there are so many kids from baby daddies it's almost like what is going on for real? It all comes down to personal responsibility and hearing/learning the message not the negative I guess.

  • word!

  • Straight knowledge and truth...Great poem man...

  • You speak the truth my man. If only BET would play this instead of that commercial shit and rappers would be more wise on what they where teaching to our youth community.

  • I'm lovin this. Powerful stuff dude

  • Still one of my favourite videos on You Tube of all time

  • Your great I'm going to play this to the kids I mentor

  • hiphop, like an ostreperous virus, is contagious and volatile: having a tendency to conjure negativity and trigger dogmatic thinking in the highly impressionable.

indeed, it has done its share in decimating the character of young people--making women out to be as whores willing to do anything for a dollar, and men as gang-banging thugs always trying to make a hustle.

but the real evil is the attempt of upper-rankers to destroy the voices of those who'll otherwise never be heard.

  • don't fucking care, it's good music.

  • hiphop will be here for a long time to come--there is too much money involved--and when something makes money like that, someone will find the means to keep it alive.

hiphop has done its share to corrupt the dignity and values of young people by making women appear as '10cent whores' willing to do anything for a dollar, as well as make all the men appear as gang banging thugs always trying to make a hustle.

  • i'm from the old school--and i don't care for hiphop much; nevertheless i will say, this latest drive to say that "hiphop is dead is ALL A BUNCH OF BUNK!!!

this is conservative, upper-eshcelon meddling aimed at driving or curbing the direction of hiphop via the media. it's aim is to drive the sales of hiphop down and ultimately destroy it altogether. although there are positive artist out there, the best efforts of the 'shakers' and 'movers' would require total elimination altogether!

  • good to hear the truth. especially when its so rare.

  • You all know that something is wrong with the massage a lot of this so called MC are spreading above the nation. Hip Hop once used to be a part of the national rights movement, giving everyone a chance to be himself and to express yourself in the 4 Elements of Hip Hop. Hip Hop can turn your frustration your anger, your plain energy into something positiv, but it all colaps when you listen to the man with the money, people whant to be down with the money an not with the game
