  • So annoying but great annoying cos today we were singing it today in scots language and it was called bacon roll with the same tune

  • Cliff was doing the other guitar bit! Yes, Hank was playing the lead guitar but Cliff was playing the other guitar bit if you listen closely enough you can hear that there's another guitar!

  • Long time favourite Cliff Richard Living Doll. I sang this song on stage at Stoke Mandeville Hospital 1959. The nurses got me to sing to them on stag. Unfortunately, the band didn't know any other song of his at the time.

Cliff Richard is the King of Pops from 1958 to now and still going.. No other band has had so many hits over a decade and still recording.

  • im 50 n thats the first time iv seen this video

    go sir cliff

  • anyone can see that it´s playback of the org recording with Hank on the leadguitar.

  • cliff, you dreamboat.

  • just looking at this makes me think , How much the world has changed! guys and girls these days at his age are not polite and ediquette any more like they used to be. I wish i grew up in the old days!

  • I Personally think he's giving a great Elvis Immitation, wich is not unlikely because Cliff was the brittisch answer to Elvis Presley.

  • Such an amazing voice! Such a sexy person

  • are the shadows the 2 behind him ;) ?

  • przystojniaczek

  • hmm im just confuse who got the best low voice

    elvis or cliff

both are good and both are sexy

*im a guy and im straight*

  • I'm not gonna lie - I find myself compulsively yelling things in between lines whenever I hear this song...

  • You've cut the bliddy end off!!!

  • I saw Cliff in Johannesburg 57/58. Wow! Those days no sets, only the singer and the Shadows in front of a backdrop curtain! BUT the music!!!

  • Luv these earlier songs

  • I dedicated this song to my little girl when she was born.. I used to sing it to her as a baby to get her to sleep - I still sing it to her now :)

  • great song-cliffs ist uk no1 x6wks jul 59-of course hes not playing-this is just a very early "video" where like today artists pretend to play/sing-at least he didnt need AutoTune and Hank really did play the guitar-no session men

  • I finally found this song, soooo happy <3 I've wanted to know the name almost a year now. :P Really great video....

  • lip sync... guitar aint plugged in!

  • CLASSIC!

  • Why so negative energy? This is just video, playback show for fun. This is just boy with the guitar, this is not "fake solo".....

  • I like how Cliff can get sound out of that guitar when its not even plugged in!!!!

  • @800764 In the Doc. this video comes from, Sir Cliff teases how he did this pretending he´s the one playing and not Hank...

  • @800764

    Remote control; - sensors; pal!!!

  • @Siroceandeep Damn!!! My srcrets out!! LOL.

  • My very first record for my new Dansette player!! Wonderful!!! Nearly drove my Dad crazy. I played it over and over again .... well it WAS my ONLY record!!

  • Hes a lovely singer and a lovely person

  • I see Harry Webb borrowed hank's 'strat., I bet the old queen wishes he could play it for real.

  • @SuperLordjohn Mr.Webb CAN actually play it for real, and he's actually a very competent guitar player, everybody knows that (although you seem to be an exception). I hope you didn't lose too much money with your "bet"...

  • @Siroceandeep Agree with you totally, NOBODY sounds like Hank. Of course Cliff isn't playing for real in this clip (the strat's not even plugged in), my comment was not about your description of this video, but a reply to mr. Superlordjohn's comment. Hope I cleared that up.

  • @SuperLordjohn Harry Webb aka Sir Cliff was who gave Hank the guitar...guitar came from USA. Cliff and Hank were and still are the best friends. Here, Cliff is pretending he is the one playing..that was fun for them, ´cos at the time they did NOT liked the song at all...

Sadly this guitar is with Bruce who refuses to give it back to Hank...

By the way, think everybody who play guitar would love to play like Hank.

(sorry, was just a little of music history)

  • @SuperLordjohn ..oh just forgot to ask you one thing..."the old queen" who talk about is it Brian May??? Brian May is an amazing guitar player; not better, not worst than Hank Marvin - Brian Has his own style and I love both.

  • @SuperLordjohn Harry (Cliff) was the one who bought and gave Hank Marvin this guitar - was the first Fender Strat guitar in Europe..:P:P and do you wanna know more?? well...you go and search for the information...

  • The kids were going home for Christmas! 1959 Travelling light was the message! But we were all behind them!..

  • This was a Hit in East Africa November 1959. I know... I was there...

  • wow, he's so good he makes his guitar sound, and its not even plugged in!!

  • Everybody knows this. In the U.S. the A-side was preferred. Don't know about the U.K.

  • LMAO YOU !!!!! your music taste goes from one extreme to another anyways Thank You I'm flattered + I do like him

seen him last year AMAZING Gr8 share x

  • @DieHardBeatlesFan Also seen him:) Fantastic!!!

  • Does Cliff not look a little like Ronaldo, when Ronaldo was young in this video... :-)

Looking forward to see 50 years older Sir Cliff & the Shadows in Gigantium, Aalborg on the 13 of november 2009 singing this song... :-)

  • I agree with you, and they are CR !

  • @Youtubant I´m so sorry...when Ronaldo was young?? Is he old?? LOL

I´ve seen a few times Ronaldo...never seen Cliff when a young teen ( I was not born yet) but looking at Cliff pics and had been seeing Ronaldo, beleive me...they have NOTHING in common...

  • @Siroceandeep

Sorry I mixed it up - but still thinks that young Cliff back then looks a little like Ronaldo does today and I know Sir Cliff will agree and keep his spirit up to another game of international intertainment... :-)

  • @Youtubant OMG! i have always thought that and said this to friend of mine who would laugh at me. thank you finally someone else can see it too.

  • @Youtubant

thought the same thing. Though one likes Jesus, the others a judas (its a Man U fan thing)

  • Excellent clip. The first time I've seen it.

  • i like cliff better than elvis i'm 17

  • @dorisdayno1 Hi;-)

How do I know that??? LOL...I know a bit of Elvis ´cos of Cliff (I must confess!!!).

  • Had proper promotion of Cliff Richard been had in the USA, he could have ruled the way of teen acts during those years. An excellent example what Americans and American rock and roll missed before and during the rise of the Beatles.

  • @trigamello

Cliff WAS big in the USA in the 1970s, at with a few hits.

  • Cliff is as talented as Elvis was.

  • Not bad for a lip-sync TV appearance

    Boy he looked cool

  • He is cool:)

  • @LittleDragon2000 and this is from 1959...

  • @Siroceandeep

Most TV appearances in the 50s and 60s were lip-synced

It was even worse on US shows such as American Bandstand
