  • I dunno if it was here on Youtube or not but i once saw a video of those white ceramic knives either made by victorinox or some italian/japanese company that they literally drop from chest height on a stone floor tip down , it didn't affect anything ... can it be that there are different grades of ceramic ? like there are different knife steels out there ? one being stronger and better than the other ? i really wonder , maybe you know ? btw here in Belgium most kitchens have stone floors ...

  • In one of the big knife mags they tested a ceramic knife by chopping a 2" × 4".

It handled it just fine, so all ceramic knives aren't created equal.

  • That was a fun review!

    Thanks Jeff!

    Peace

  • 2012 CutleryLover brutaly breaks a knife... NOOOOOOO the Mayans were right!!! hehehe

  • Ceramic? That looks like granite!

  • earthen ware (sp?) is like ceramic cookware.

  • Hey Jeff I was wondering if you could suggest a bowie knife for me? It's mainly for labor and I have seen a few cheap ones but don't want to buy something that will break easily. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Love your vids!

  • if its cheap, its shit.

    easy...

  • man, you should have little annotations and stuff that would appear. Like "Knife sharpening video here!" while you are talking about that

  • made in china...

  • Chefs use ceramic knives for salad cutting and chifonard dont bruises as much as metal

  • @proskipper1 cutting doesnt bruise veg. dumbass ahahhaahaha

plus if you put it in water after chopping the veg, it wont go brown. most veg doesnt anyway. why dont you go read a book before you start commenting your shit.

  • @James27Simko Who said anything about veg. Don't like your attitude - learn some manners!

  • You need Preparation H for your hot sauce ass Jeff.

  • Quality floor coverings, hell yeah...

  • alot of my friends just have serated knives q.q

  • Drop test and no shoes. LOL

  • I turned a cook knife into 1-2 inch box cutting knife in 2 years of service to the kitchen. I wish that I kept the bugger to frame. pretty much OCD on a proper edge. Nice review and keep em coming.

  • you can get knives like this at harbor freight tools for less than $6

  • In fact the handle is so heavier than the blade that it touches the ground first and being rubber absorb most of the impact...Not bad

  • try to avoid karats and hard veggies

  • @TomaNicTurtle159 carrots?

  • Turn on Transcribe Audio and go to 1:02 XDD

  • Pretty much how I imagined ceramic knives to be. Thanks for the review. I'm sure you're careful but please watch yourself doing a drop test without shoes.

  • Turn on CC. Some of the shit YouTube thinks Jeff is saying is ridiculous XD

  • As always start the video in the middle and you've about started the actual review ;)

  • Nice test Jeff and bay the way screw ceramic cutlery in my opinion !!!

  • Those plates are from wallmart!

  • You're totally right about the average person being totally irresponsible with knives. I've seen people cutting with steel knives on countertops; doesn't matter what material. Stainless steel, marble, whatever. Also Earthenware, is like clay based dishware.

  • Carbide knife?

  • Oh god.. Why..

  • You have really nice floors Jeff. Not even joking, I love your tile.

  • How about a video about Spanish Toothpick and Toothpicks in general - I've started a collection and would appreciate some experienced input. Type of steel to avoid, durability as an EDC, and Spanish Toothpicks in general. I ordered a very nice one from Amazon, it came today and I was very, very impressed. Was wondering if you have any in your collection.

  • preparation H=

    an omen

  • Conclusion: Ceramic knives are like women, good for use in the kitchen.

  • How dangerous is it when they break? That's the only reason I've hesitated in trying them out.

  • instead of this, i'd rather use a mora

  • I got my mom a $150 kitchen knife for christmas one year. I have never seen a knife abused so badly. People don't understand that you need to take care of them!

  • So, are you saying ceramic knives are primarily for gays & lesbians ?

  • to be fair ive dropped my gerber in my bathroom onto tile and the tip broke off, granted it was a cheap 30 knife, but take it into consideration

  • That really doesn't look like ceramic

  • My life had no ''pros and cons'' Just shitty luck.

Every time something good happens to me something DOUBLE as BAD happens to counter it.

    It sucks.

  • I always wanted a knife saying it was "vogue". :D

  • The part about the Preparation H made me Lol....

  • I soviet Russia oven mits are for pussys :)

  • I always wondered about ceramic knives and their durability.

    Thanks a lot.

  • First video in months about a knife... and it's not even a real knife. Nice!

  • @MystikEssence Considering he's made 4 vids on knives in the past week and a half?

  • I hate the carbide sharpeners too but had to use one a while ago on my kitchen knives (family abuse them) but then used my fallkniven dc4 to finish them

  • This makes US look stupid

  • @MsTechDude "Us", in caps, or "United States"?

  • Yoshi blade...$20

  • dropping a knife barefoot :s

  • Could of gave it to me....

  • my parrents kitchen knives are round...i had them all sharp and stroped but my mom needs work

  • don't care if it holds and edge well, if it breaks when it falls from 1.2 meters its total crap

  • You should have put on a mask like knife test

  • only jeff can do a 20 minute review on a ceramic kitchen knife

  • @pieman6542 only jeff can do a 20 minute review on a ceramic kitchen knife... that a cheap chinese made knife

  • @pieman6542 Only Jeff is this awesome though, 20 minutes is a little short. And I do believe that nutnfaggy could do much longer and much worse with his flabby lips and over used techno music.

  • @pieman6542 20 minutes of Gold!

  • excellent! I have been looking for a ceramic knife to cut lettuce. Cutting lettuce with a metal knife turns the lettuce brown. Thanks for the review. It just reminded me to go out and get the ceramic knife I've wanted for months. :)

  • ...you better make more than 6 bucks off this video

  • Ceramic knives are great for cooking, though as you say Jeff, they do chip real easy.

  • Doing what you do best..... knife reviews!!

  • Great test

  • the sideway pressure was really stupid. you would never excert force in such a way in your kitchen.

  • @beholderlt No, you would just never purposefully exert force in such a way in your kitchen. Presumably. You're not control of everything 100% of the time.

  • what about using diamond stones to sharpen it? Im sure that would work really well :)

  • imagine this knife breaking in to bits while cutting food and when you eat - you bite on some knife chips. Uuuuguguughhhhh

  • earthenware is stuff made of clay.

  • why do you always have 306 views?

  • @SakkyPanda welcome to YouTube, Clearly you are new.

  • @SakkyPanda If a video gets a ton of views in a quick time, YT software pauses the video count to make sure it isn't watched by some sort of machine, it pauses at either 301 -306 and then about 1/2 hour later it shows the true count, so you have tuned in during that time. :)

  • my whole family love knives and guns.

  • I've missed like five of your videos. I'm sad now.

  • This was actually a lot tougher than I thought it would be 0_o

And considering the price, I'd buy it if I didn't happend to have more knives than I need already and dont really enjoy cooking ^^

  • Cutlerylover, Have you ever test a victorinox swiss knife?

  • Damn Jeff! You are fucking reading in my mind. Yesterday I saw a TV commercial with basicly a rebranded DX ceramic knife and I was thinking "I really want to see a Jeff's review on one of this DX ceramic knives..."

  • Jeff, i don't mean to sound like a dick however i will most probably do sound like a dick saying this. Can you stop making such a big deal out of when you say something wrong, it just really annoys me, sorry and I don't mean to put any kind of pressure on you if you will ever read this. Btw, I'm loving all the non knife stuff, if you try to please you audience all your videos would be the same and that's not why I come to your channel.

  • China, it's from China

  • @Funkis1991 What's the big deal? Just because China is known to use poor materials in order to manufacture things for cheaper doesn't mean that sometimes it creates worth a buy. Besides, it's a company that began in China anyway so it's not like its taking jobs.

    Pfft, Americans.

  • I've had steel knives that broke dropping them on tile or concrete. I reckon this is a good knife, and deserves a better review, especially for the money it cost.

  • Heheh..you fondled it..

  • You killed a knife :[ :[

  • Cool video! it would be cool to see u hit that blade with a hammer if possible and see it shatter.

  • Were you doing the drop test barefoot?

  • Looked good for cutting up fruits. Especially limes and oranges and other small, highly acidic things. You don't have to worry about the acid rusting it up.

  • Btw I think glass blades would be sick

  • I told my fiance our kitchen knives will be sharp at all times and taken care of. We have an 85 dollar set of kitchen knives. Nice set.

  • i hate when they take my knives and throw them in the sink with all the spoons and forks they don't understand how long it took me to make them as sharp as they are

  • Carbide sharpeners are terrible on knives, but work really well on my swords.

  • @EddieCubillo Oh god no, please, you sharpen a sword the same as a knife. If it's bad for a knife it's bad for a sword.

  • @Tendrax Well it depends on the sword, Katanas are out of the question but for western style swords it is a pretty good option.

  • @EddieCubillo No, it's always bad. The proper edge for a western sword is a convex or apple seed edge.

  • @Tendrax It's not ideal, true. But it will put a decent functional edge, besides i only do that on my more inexpensive ones.

  • @EddieCubillo mostly my Deepeekas, wouldnt think about it on my hanweis or Windlass.

  • I joke i joke

  • @mrbenrocks95 Lolll

  • Earthware is pottery that is made of clay from the Earth as opposed to synthetics or oil based clay. Pottery class FTW.

  • Thats a brittle fracture if i ever did see one.

  • Anyone else think Jeff should be a hand model LOL..

  • dropping knives with only socks as protection... not the smartest thing but then again knives arent exactly tennis balls..... good review though as always

  • @dragon411320 I was cringing the whole time

  • If worse came to worse, I would use an old school ceramic knife...also known as a nice piece of flint... Sure, you may get that occasional crunch, or sliced gum, in your bite but the end I can resharpen it, and read the instructions in English.

  • i just watched the house video and i gotta know what the heck is in the locked closet???

  • DealExtreme is great! How can you beat those $6 Benchmades! P-)

  • ★★★★★

  • i would not call that knife sharp the way you got it man that was pretty pathetic cutting performance

  • god damnit jeff i got on youtube to kill time not spend time watching videos wtf

  • This was very useful; I was thinking about getting one and now I will never buy one, ever. Ever.

  • I don't know why I watch your videos...I'm not into cutlery, zippos,hotsauce.... But damn it I somehow got sucked into watching a review on a product I will never buy...AGAIN. idk why I llike your vids ...but I definitely do. Thank you

  • But will it blend?

  • "you do NOT want to ingest this ceramic" *puts blade on plate*

  • I'm going to bed now too.

  • its marble not ceramic tile

  • do you have a boker jim wagner serrated, or a cold steel tiger

  • That's not the only thing that has a place in the kitchen XD

  • *cringe* Dropping a knife on the floor without wearing protective footwear.

  • The ceramic knife/peeler combo is pretty good on deal extreme too.

  • i bet one of those diamond plate sharpeners would work good for a ceramic knife

  • Im pretty sure I had the exact same Boker folder LOL...@ around age 14, too

  • 8:19 cutlerylover: "not good".

    *sees thumbs up* LOL

  • I'd say it's more of a large paring knife than a steak knife.

  • Comment removed

  • I liked the tour.

  • I've had one for two years. The blade is a bit chipped now but cuts fine. I still have to be careful of the edge since I've nearly cut a sponge in half while cleaning it due to distractions. That could have been a very nasty cut on my palm. You should probably mention that putting it in the dishwasher isn't a good idea.

  • 1:25-1:43 Do not taunt ceramie knife!!!

  • Idea for next bushcraft video! Making a spear using that broken ceramic blade! :D

  • your tile is very clean

  • Comment removed

  • i hate people who have dull knifes and cant cut anything so they ask me to sharpen them

  • @venman360 start charging them

  • @27dcx you read my mind.

  • you should do a tour of your house

  • @doom2metallica I believe he already has. :P

  • @J88Wolf o im gona watch it

  • @doom2metallica I did at christmas time

  • @cutlerylover i just got done watching it i have that pickel and use to have that table you have a nice house

  • i think earthenware is like clay pots n shit.

  • watch out, your going to get heavy metal poisoning. You don't know what's in these chinese goods.

  • The main reason I don't sharpen my kitchenware is that I simply do not care about them. But now that you mentioned it... I just found something to cure my bordom. :P I love sharpening knives.

  • cool video, loved it

  • what who dislikes your video HE MUST BE DEE YOUTUBED

  • Thanks for the review, Jeff! I always wondered what ceramic knives were like, and now i know

  • Awww, no more videos tonight. :(

  • Jeff u the man

  • is it harder than zdp-189?

  • @BananaBoat629 yes you sharpen ZDP189 on ceramic rods...lol

  • i use carbide sharpeners, mainly i use a steel for straightening the edge but when the edge wears away i am definitely guilty of using a sharpener for my cutlery...

  • What sort of edge were you able to put on that ceramic knife with the carbide sharpener?

  • @MrICSK a basic sharp edge not shaving but paper slicing

  • @cutlerylover what is your opinion on the "100% genuine victorinox" knives on DX

  • ,ffeJ do you think you can redo your sharpening video? I tried following it. but it skiped some because when it got cut. can you please redo it?

  • As far as ceramic knives go, I must definitely recommend 'Kyocera' - short for Kyoto Ceramics, one of the world leaders in ceramic technologies, and they make various other things besides just knives. I had to comment right after seeing how that knife couldn't make a clean slice on paper. >_< They are a bit more pricey, but it's definitely well worth it. I have dropped mine a couple of times, and accidentally cut into hard surfaces. No chips, no damage, no marks, still razor, razor sharp.

  • I was just saying that because I thiNk it's funny how fanboys reply but love you Jeff

  • @Futuristics7 im not a fan boy i just hate ignorant people like you.

  • Earthenware = ceramic material.

  • ive got an interesting folder made entirely of zytel (the stuff glocks are made of), doesnt hold an edge well but its metal detector proof and cool to have

  • it annoys me we i see people trying to cut with dull knives........

  • 17:38 sums up the review in case you dont have 20 minutes to spare...

  • YES a cutlerylover vid!!! The only YouTuber I actually LOOK FORWARD to watching! Keep on rockin Jeff

  • @iVolkswagen cool thanks

  • @cutlerylover

your tripod was moving at 13:44

  • I remember when I bought my first pocket knife from walmart and got excited with it and started stabbing things and I went to stab a box of golf balls and the tip of the blade bent. The knife was a Kershaw Salvo or something like that

  • @Futuristics7 lmao and you comment hoora on a USMC video...hmmm lol having a bad day or something your recent comments look positive?

  • @cutlerylover i expect a knife to jump up off a table and stab him in the forehead lol

  • @Futuristics7 And you are a racist little bitch, congrats.

  • @Futuristics7 You are an ignorant fuck! How can a knife kill someone by its
