  • Great question @skillseeker. The IT band holds the quadriceps muscules in place (keeps them from bowing out). It also is able to abduct (pull the leg away from center) the leg. The function of the aDductors in the inner thigh is to pull the leg toward center and balance out the function of the aBductors (IT band/Tensor Fascia Lata).

  • the IT band is there to prevent the bowing outwards of the femur, which occurs from the weight of the body on the femural head. Will the adductor pull help the IT Band in doing so or not? What function of the IT Band is supported here?

  • I run and do p90x. My ITB sidelined my running for now. I'm definitely going to work this into my leg routines on p90x. It's my left ITB, I'm right handed. Figures. Thanks for the post!
