What I dont get with this kit is why don't they just market the heads because with the trutrac heads on the shells all u hear is the heads anyway it seems pointless having the shells present if you r just going to play the heads
IM SORRY!, but pearl is a great and very powerful drum company, they make a very nice set of drums and i also own a few acoustic kits but im pretty sure the "Electric kit" in general was made to be easy for transportation... now this looks like it would be the same as transporting an acoustic set... but making an electric kit to look like an acoustic defeats the purpose....(CAN ANYONE SOLVE MY DELEMA) "IS THIS JUST A COLLECTORS THING?" whats the point?
No way does it defeat the purpose. Unlike an expensive acoustic kit, you can get to experience many different sounds from the one kit, unlike your static acoustic one as well as serious quiet jams at 2 in the morning. Give me this beautiful kit any day over an acoustic of same value.
I play a Pearl Master Custom Birch set for years and it still sounds great in every situation. Live in a pub or live in a venue also in studio. But that electronic shit will never never never sound like an acoustic drumkit. It has no depth and there is no interaction between the drummer and the el. kit.
@Michael55443 offcourse thats the point of an e-kit , they literally have hundreds and hundreds of preset sounds for each individual toms/snare/kick/cymbals
@urbanannihilators I realize that, as I've owned electronic drums before, but doesn't this drummer realize how bad the toms and crash sound?? Rather than changing to a new sound entirely, can these toms and crash and kick be "fixed" to sound better? Some electronic kits don't allow for that much adjustment.
I have been using electric drum for about 6 years now. Tried this kit a few months ago in AUDW2010. Everything OK but the hi-hat pedal. Pearl e-Pro live still using old Hi-Hat technology (make our feet stick to it, no freedom as in acoustic) while its competitors such as Roland and Yamaha has use real hi-hat stand.
0.37 Just proves why you're just better off having an acoustic set, WITHOUT sampled triggers. Nice cymbal swell. hahahaa Sorry Buddy, but the cymbals you chose sound like crap.
this sounds awesome. the only thing id like to know is with the kit, especially the bass drum and the cymballs, are they completely silenced? i wouldnt wanna get it and be disappointed if my headphones werent good enough or something
I played this at Guitar Center yesterday, it's shit. The drums are ok, but the cymbals suck. They only have an extremely small sweet spot on them, you have to hit it in one little place on the cymbal. It's ridiculous.
I know this is an electric kit but while you are playing the Pearl e-Pro Live drum kit is it quiet like the Roland electronic kits? Because i live in an apartment and need to know if these are quiet while playing them?
yes there's no sound from this drum kit make sure you buy the one with rubber cymbals also you can get the one with brass cymbals but they a tiny bit more noize from the kit the brass cymbals have been treated there is no sound or very little sound.
if you want to know more about e pro live go to " e pro live dot com " and go to the video section.
I own a set of Space Muffins that absolutely out perform these drums hands down....plus I get to choose my on kit size, color, wood, and I don't have to change heads to use them as acoustics........The Epro is a quality set but not much more that the td20 or the yahama products.
@jellyboy123 nah homie not flamin it, it's just he's really selling them, he's saying how amazing it is, like an advert, not a review. I think it's probably a good kit, it sounds fresh, and i haven't got better, but it's the way he says it all.
@Beholdthecoma uh thats because he works for Pearl... he's the sales rep a at the NAMM winter music expo (or w/e that shit is called). of course hes trying to sell the drumkit, hes like the shamwow guy but hes still employed by Pearl
@Paiste402 Doubtful dude. Pad hands is different than no being able to "go back to a real kit." It takes a LOT of habit reforming to override the muscle memory that we as drummers have developed over our musical careers.
its been done, Boom theory have already done this. You get a worst sound than a Roland yet u pay more, the shells are cheap as shit so its like a cheap beginners kit. And u have to lug extra gear and try not to scratch the finish just to have an electronic drum sound anyway when gigging. Also E Classic cymbals? Get out, they are worse than Sabian Solars and u cant play this kit quiet cause of em
U pay more, u have to carry more, get less sound and playability Should be the slogan
Now, if they would SOUND like real drums it'd be awesome. They only look like 'um. If you don't notice, in the beginning he tries a cymbal swell and only the last hit is heard. Terrible.
The kits too big. I want portability, for live performance your going to need to bring a med to large amp/cab for your band mates to hear you, so having a full sized electronic kit looks cool but a bit of a pain. The lush drums in memory switch sound nice though.
these don't even sound real... they're really clicky and way too compressed im sorry pearl but this is an epic fail. Let Roland do the electronic drums
i think that it would be better to just get a yamaha dtxtreme III i mean you get a better module better sounds and 512 ram instead of 128 so i mean 3199 for this small of a kit, thats kinda dumb
The whole point on an electric set is that they can be used without waking up the entire apartment complex or next door neighbor. They are great for practicing.
not to keen on the cymbals, but i AM keen on the 1 kit downloaded cymbals!!!

for like 3199 you can get a roland td12kx.
most people who got a electronic drum kit got a acoustic kit.
i love the idea but i don't know roland and yamaha are dominating the market.
is it to late for pearl to have a piece of the pie.
i think people will go out and buy a roland because its a brand people trust as a good electric drum maker.
