@cacada12312 I'm not a legal expert but I think that falls until 'solicitation of a minor' and/or 'contributing to the delinquency of a minor.' Likely they would find more laws to throw at you as well.
The minor is very unlikely to get charged with anything... maybe mandatory counseling, etc...

@kicesie I think those who participate in sexting do so because it's a way to rebel. It gives them a sense that they're getting away with something that is wrong, unacceptable and/or dangerous, which is most definitely possible. Also that some think of it as a way to get approval whether from their peers or from someone to whom they are attracted. At the same time it's kind of like having sex in a public place (i.e. Movie Theater). Sadly, the consequences can be devastating to all involved.

Chances are you won't be charged if you're sending photos of yourself, but the laws are vague in my understanding and I'm guessing you COULD be but simply won't likely be. Forwarding pics someone sent to YOU though? They have tons of room to charge you with having and sending child porn.

I agree that sexting can be extremely risky. But when you send it to the right person, who you know you can trust it is okay. I disagree with a comment I saw below that said you should only do that if you have had sex with the person. I am 15. I'm not ready to be that intimate with anyone, but I am comfortable with my boyfriend of 10 months to see pictures or in person. I can't drive yet, so time alone can be difficult to find if I was going to do anything. I sent my first picture in November.
@tigerlilySEC15 Just keep in mind that your 10 months is huge to you (and it is long for your age) but 10 months is truly nothing. I've been with my husband now for 6.5 years and feel uncertain about him having photos that WE took of me/us.... so just realize that things always change.... that is the only thing you can be certain of. Please be careful. Nude photos of yourself, that you sent, can even be a criminal (felony) charge. Just keep all of that in mind!!!

In most states at the age 15 your still considered a child and if your boyfriend is 17 or older he could end up in serious trouble, and also in most states your parents can file charges against him even if you don't want to and you started it. I did sexting once and boy did I regret it quickly.. This guy and I were dating and it wasn't exactly a great relationship, but he kept bugging and pressuring me into sending semi to completely nude pictures to him. Well long story short we ended up breaking up then some how my dad got a hold of them and since I was under age at the time and my boyfriend was over age he was sent to jail and I ended up grounded for three months and my phone taken away. Believe me when I say its SO not worth it..

Also think about it this way, if the two of you break up, even if you're both over the age, those pictures that you sent him may end up in the wrong hands(i.e. the whole school if you still go)and you'll be labeled and once labeled that it's kinda hard to get rid of it and everyone will know what you did and won't forget it easily. Take it from me, it's so not worth it.. AND more than likely it'll end badly for the two of you.
Good one. A friends daughter who is divorced and in her late 20's was sexting to a guy she thought was serious about her. She was in a thong, bare from the waist up. The dog sent it to about 100 other guys, including some people she worked with. The law firm she was working for "terminated their relationship" with her. I won't even go into the problems with Teens doing it. Attention everyone, brains have left the building.

I once knew i girl that went through a lot of bad times because of one sextape. It was a classic case: at the time she and her boyfriend agreed on making the video with the condition that it was only for them to see. She was 16. @kicesie I think those who participate in sexting do so because it's a way to rebel. It gives them a sense that they're getting away with something that is wrong, unacceptable and/or dangerous, which is most definitely possible. Also that some think of it as a way to get approval whether from their peers or from someone to whom they are attracted. At the same time it's kind of like having sex in a public place (i.e. Movie Theater). Sadly, the consequences can be devastating to all involved.

I hate how when I text a boyfriend they just automatically assume I want a nakked picture. I doubt it (99.99% of the time) they know it could be filed against them for distributing child pornography. I know a bunch of ppl that sext. I think what makes then think its ok is no adult really knows :l

@xxjaclsonxx Yes you could be. It doesn't matter if you're a minor, if you're still forwarding nude or semi-nude photos of a minor! Chances are you won't be charged if you're sending photos of yourself, but the laws are vague in my understanding and I'm guessing you COULD be but simply won't likely be. Forwarding pics someone sent to YOU though? They have tons of room to charge you with having and sending child porn.

sexting is pretty much a matter of common sense. don't let a guy or girl peer pressure you into sending nude pictures or what ever to someone you don't trust and if you're going to which may end up happening any way cause some people don't listen... don't have your face in it. that way they really wouldn't have no proof but if you're going to do it then make sure they're 100% TRUST WORTHY and my fellow guys out there if you get a girl to send a nude pic don't forward it. you cud ruin their life

I agree that sexting can be extremely risky. But when you send it to the right person, who you know you can trust it is okay. I disagree with a comment I saw below that said you should only do that if you have had sex with the person. I am 15. I'm not ready to be that intimate with anyone, but I am comfortable with my boyfriend of 10 months to see pictures or in person. I can't drive yet, so time alone can be difficult to find if I was going to do anything. I sent my first picture in November.

@tigerlilySEC15 Just keep in mind that your 10 months is huge to you (and it is long for your age) but 10 months is truly nothing. I've been with my husband now for 6.5 years and feel uncertain about him having photos that WE took of me/us.... so just realize that things always change.... that is the only thing you can be certain of. Please be careful. Nude photos of yourself, that you sent, can even be a criminal (felony) charge. Just keep all of that in mind!!!

In most states at the age 15 your still considered a child and if your boyfriend is 17 or older he could end up in serious trouble, and also in most states your parents can file charges against him even if you don't want to and you started it. Plus you, even though your still a kid, don't exactly get off scotch free either.

I did sexting once and boy did I regret it quickly.. This guy and I were dating and it wasn't exactly a great relationship, but he kept bugging and pressuring me into sending semi to completely nude pictures to him. Well long story short we ended up breaking up then some how my dad got a hold of them and since I was under age at the time and my boyfriend was over age he was sent to jail and I ended up grounded for three months and my phone taken away. Believe me when I say its SO not worth it..

Also think about it this way, if the two of you break up, even if you're both over the age, those pictures that you sent him may end up in the wrong hands(i.e. the whole school if you still go)and you'll be labeled and once labeled that it's kinda hard to get rid of it and everyone will know what you did and won't forget it easily. Take it from me, it's so not worth it.. AND more than likely it'll end badly for the two of you.

Good one. A friends daughter who is divorced and in her late 20's was sexting to a guy she thought was serious about her. She was in a thong, bare from the waist up. The dog sent it to about 100 other guys, including some people she worked with. The law firm she was working for "terminated their relationship" with her. I won't even go into the problems with Teens doing it. Attention everyone, brains have left the building.

If you're an adult and you're not going to lose your job if those photos get out there (especially when they were photos just between husband and wife and you were victimized by a hacking let's say), then it could certainly be a risk worth taking. Other people hold jobs where even that could ruin their career.... So each person has to make the best educated choice they can. I'm NOT saying don't have fun...just be smart guys

I once knew i girl that went through a lot of bad times because of one sextape. It was a classic case: at the time she and her boyfriend agreed on making the video with the condition that it was only for them to see. She was 16. The rule was broken by the guy and a lot of young people in the town (yes, in the town) ended up seeing or at least hearing about the sextape. It was agonizing just to see in what state she was left.
