i would replace those hand tools with dremel grinding bits. for example aluminium oxide stone those are found in many shapes and sizes so they'll fit in those little holes and sharp curves too. ( With those remember not to push too much aluminium oxide is pretty soft and will wear out in seconds if you push it too much into sharp edge... at least in china copies of dremel ;) just bought my first real dremel after third china copy starting to melt/smoking/firing while cutting/grinding metal)
Thanks for this. I've been trying to use a Dremel to cut long, skinny channels into a panel for slider controls. No luck; the cutting wheel likes to dance all over the place and I can't get a decent, straight cut. Now I know what kind of cut-off wheel to use; to engrave first, then cut; to rest the wheel gently on the surface; to NOT try cutting straight across; to rest my arms on a wide stable surface and use both hands... I think I can finally do this. Will try again tonight.
Sweet video man it is cool, i took the skull design i couldnt find any bigger image than what u have in this video soo i traced over it :P with an old cd case and it came out Perfect!
On my next computer build I will mod the case and I have a question. Do mods like this always leave that white outline like in the first video? Can those be sanded out so you get a perfectly black edge?

Nice Tips!! I was looking for custom Fan covers and saw your video! I think I can definitely make a custom fan cover using this technique intead of using the grills for cases that have a ton of fan holes like the Danger Den Acrylic Cases! mad props! very nice...
nice work there,i want to mod my pc case and i wonder if u can give me some links for some awesome simple logos to attach on the panel, keep do the awesome work :Dsee you later
Awesome, thanks for the video guys. I'm thinking about adding a window to my P180, but don't have a jigsaw to use (or anyone to borrow one from). This video now confirms my hopes of using a dremel to cut out the design for my window. Keep up the great work!
@VincentBProductions The plexi is engraved from one side and then has a color tin foil on the back I think. Unless you have a CNC or something I really dont think that you can do it at home. Another option would be search ebay for a company that does it and then just pay someone else to do it and tell them the design that you would want on it and go that route.
@VincentBProductions Ya but you cant get everything out. That dust and crap will make it overheat easier to. But its your case mod man. I'm just trying to tell you stuff that I wouldn't do.
@VincentBProductions Whatever you do make sure you dont have the side of the case open on your 360 because if you do it will just get that much more dust in it. Dust and other crap is bad. Good luck
@VincentBProductions Coats of paint on mine plust like 2 or 3 coats of clear coat. Turned out pretty nice. Try going to google image or something and either search xbox's or search designs of some sort. Personally I think the apple symbol on the entire side of it would be pretty hilarious but thats just me. :)
@VincentBProductions I guess it depends on what kind of things your into. I dont know you or what games you like so its hard for me to say something that you would like. I think just a random design that I drew up worked well for me. Doing the LED's in it look pretty sharp to. You can buy them on ebay for VERY cheap. Only thing with those is there very small and hard to sodder. I used the Krylon Fusion paint. But be careful it takes a couple days to cure. Well mine did I put about 4
@VincentBProductions Just to let you know...Dremeling the plastic is kinda hard because with mine it kept trying to melt the plastic instead of cut it. So be cautious and try it out in the middle of a piece your cutting out first. Good luck.
Thanks for the videos. I think i can actually attempt at custom designing a case for my xbox. or at least i think i can lol. i always mess things up so i guess i better get 2 xbox's.

Does the U channel molding make it difficult to stick the plexy window on? Doesn't it create some space between the window and the case siding where you'll be using the adhesives?
Its funny someone else made a comment about modding there xbox, cause thats EXACTLY what im going to do to. Lol. Thanks MonsterMawd for the excellent tutorial. Keep up the good work and keep comin with some more good ones. Thanks again.
My black Thermaltake "Suprano" case already has a big window in the side, but if I were to mod a case, I'd probably go one further by using some fine sand paper wrapped around an oval needle file, grit facing out of course, to finish off the edging of cuts. Then match the satin black paint of the original case with a can of spray paint or better still, an air brush. :-)
Thanks again for the video. I love watching and learning from people, such as yourself. :-)
I changed jobs, not so long ago, now I'm working in a store that sells a lot of great stuff I could use for customising, such as the "U" (or "C") shaped rubber for putting over sharp edges. I'm learning a lot of tips from the tradies (proffessional tradespeople) who come in to buy stuff from us. :-)
Would the U-channel molding not work on the lego head cutout because of the sharp corners? I think it'd look better if it had that or paint the corners black again. The exposed unpainted metal bugs me.
I wish I ad thought to use a dremel when I made my window, I use a nibbler and it took my 3 days to cut the entire window! I also used c-channel tubbing because it was cheaper, idk if it's better or not but how ever, Don't make the window too big, I did that and it's hard to open and close the computer now...it's not bad for a first time mod, you can watch on my you tube account if you want.

i am getting annoyed with my side for my thermaltake armor plus since it is pretty much all plexi. I haven't been able to find a side that is all steel so i can cut out my own window, you know of any place where it might be selling?
