  • Rush Limbaugh on jury duty.

  • @TheLastOfTheFinest80 Exactly what I was thinking!

  • Why was juror 4 already standing up?

  • This movie is awesome. I'm So excited to play Juror #10 in the spring play!!!

  • @Willowz I like to be open to all religion's lessons. Hard not to notice Islam in Dune, Hinduism in Avatar, etc. Using them to inspire books, plays or movies are common and I find interesting to take notice of.

  • We need to Open our Mind and open our Heart and behumanbekind

  • Very good acting.

  • I disagree. From a pragmatist standpoint, he's not necessarily wrong in using a person's socio-economic status to determine their propensity towards crime.

  • @hedonism13 I would argue that it is. Statistics are only proof of a general trend and should not be applied to individual cases.

But either way that's missing the point, it wasn't about socio-economic status, it was about race.

  • Juror no.8 is badass

  • good job you people, i wish i could do that on a mexican court trial

  • @skibidido Lee J. Cobb's character was convinced of the suspect's guilt throughout the movie and while personal prejudice undoubtedly had a role in that, the final few minutes in the jury's quarters reveal other issues in his life that cause him to not have faith in a young man.

  • This is a complete process error, jurors aren't allowed to do independent research over the case, they are only allowed to weigh the evidence presented based on their past experiences and knowledge. Great movie, but the judge/prosecutor would be furious if they found out about this. Then again, who the hell is the public defender in this case??

  • @RIBASAROUS Yeah, it's a good movie, but wholly inaccurate. I mean it's so illegal, if it were in real life, this case would have been retried like that.

  • @RIBASAROUS this is not an accurrate film about how the legal system works, it is a superior film about consensus building and leadership. It could also be appreciated as a Christian film as each jurror symbolically repents for the sin that made him raise his hand. Ford brings men to his side and then accepts without judgment for their initial vote, one of the classic Christ figures in movies --- made clear when this man in white is revealed as Davis, which means "son of David".

  • @itissomeoneelse Oh, do go around and start interpreting films based on religious undertones, sir. I guess, if the boy was a Muslim or a Jew the movie might have ended differently, eh?

  • 12 Angry Men is much better than The Godfather is

  • What a great movie! #8 was not expressing reasonable doubt. He was expressing racism, that all Hispanics are guilty.

  • @CHADOW66 Unless I'm mistaken, I think that he was talking about poor people in general, not Hispanics.

  • @CHADOW66 you mean #9? #8 is the main character in the play who is on the non-guilty side. He is not prejudiced

  • First he said theres a few good apples and moments later he then said : theres not one of them thats any good. In the same minute.

  • Prejudice is one thing. Truth is another.

Each individual is different. We must look at them with open eyes.

Some people commit crimes. It's not prejudice that sends them to court; it's their actions. We have to treat each situation as the unique event that it is.

  • This is what you call Jury Nullification and I would always demand a Jury over a judge any day of the week.

  • who's the orginal teabagger

  • I love this movie.....and this is the perfect way to deal with prejudice

  • leatherbubba... you got some serious issues with this film. May be you wasnt loved as a child.

  • Awesome movie

  • the one was better then the remake

  • In removing toxic prejudice from our world, it helps to remove it from ourselves first.

  • @Leatherbubba Not at all. Our justice system is founded on the belief that someone is innocent until proven guilty BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT. Juror #8 has reasonable doubt, and, upon reexamination of the situation, the rest of the jurors find that they also have reasonable doubt that the kid did it. If you weren't sure someone was guilty, would you be OK with deciding they were going to die?

  • @razormusik This is the clearest statement of law observed as applied to the film and surrounding issues. A good man has a hunch that everything is not as clear as it seems, the situation would seem to point to the obvious guilt of the accused, but the single most important point is....if you have a "reasonable doubt" given the circumstances, you have a duty to consider this and keep on track with your reasoning. Probabilities may be mentioned, racism referred to...who hears what?

  • @Leatherbubba Everyone thought he was guilty for sure when the movie started. Including the non-racists. Everybody changed their opinions at the end of the movie. I think Lee J. Cobb's character kept thinking he was guilty not because of the facts, but because of his prejudice. At the end of the movie he changed and his humanity took over the prejudice side of him, and he honestly didnt want the boy punished. Thats my take of it.

  • I love this scene and I love this movie

  • We just read this play in 10th grade english today

  • By your argument, you assume that the directors' intention of adding the speech was to inform the audience of the ongoing prejudice. The speech provided a nice ending to the movie and acts like a summation. I also took your post less seriously when you attacked a "particular stupid audience".

  • Personally, I think the scene would be improved without Fonda's little addendum speech about prejudice. The prejudice is obvious - only a particularly stupid audience needs it spelled out in detail.

  • 3 minute and 20 second single shot. Would of been very very difficult, I wonder how many takes they did.

  • I remember acting in this play in my 8th grade reading class. i was jurer number eight.

  • There are quite a few liberals out there who could learn some thing from this

  • The acting in this movie is first rate. A powerful thoughtful movie, and I would have expected this in the climate of the '60's. That's why it shows some awareness of social things that could have, but weren't broadly addressed in the '50's.It's amazing how the characters served every segment of society, and through excellent script writing and direction came together and became humane, decent, and justifiable. A Classic movie!

  • why dislike

i guess sarah palin made 13 accounts

  • Quality clip. I'm on jury service at the moment and what he says about being sure and outside prejudices is spot on. Great film. Great clip. Thanks

  • My favorite role in a play ever": Juror 3. This is one of my favorite movies and I was lucky enough to be in the play.

  • In extremely tense and stressful situations a person's true nature reveals itself.

  • @HAsaxophone42 Yeah.

  • I don't know. I haven't seen the 1997 version, but I can't imagine it being as impactful as this one. Even the fact that it is in colour would detract from the sense of absolute concentration on what is important here.

  • RIP Sidney Lumet

This film made me appreciate the art of filmmaking.

  • Juror #4 was a terrific character in this movie.

  • EXCELLENT movie. If only every court case in the US had Henry Fonda's character in the jury.

  • It's interesting to wonder how they decided, based on the juror's character and personalities, who stands up and who remains seated and in what order they stand up. I'm not sure what to make of it but some thought must have gone into it. In the 1954 TV version, they all get early on in the speech, before it would have sunk in what he was saying and why he was saying it. It's properly done here.

  • OWND.

  • they should've renamed it "THOSE GUISE MAD LOL"

  • which one says "i have, now sit down and dont open your mouth again"?

  • @TheHiredAgent Probably juror no. 4

  • @TheHiredAgent Juror #4. The one on the left that's still sitting down.

  • @TheHiredAgent Juror 4

  • Watching it in my government class. I think it's the first black and white movie I'll ever be interested in and ever finish! And there's no actions in it!

  • I hope I end up in a film class that watches this movie. I would have so much to say about it.

  • @HeroOfLegend115 We just watched it in my Civics and Economics class.

    ha

  • Begley sure hit it out of the park in the scene.

  • 12 Angry Men is as brilliant as film making and acting get. Wow, what a great movie and cast. Definately one of Henry Fonda's best. Love this move. Peace. : )

  • I just watched this in my English class, it was pretty good actually.

  • @KaminaTheSpiralKing Woah! Dude same here! I saw this movie in my English class. We just about finished it today! I love this book/ movie so much!

  • i know all about this shit i am Indian and i heard all kinds of shit come out of white ignorants peoples mouths all my life those idiots have hung innocent men women and children because of the color of skin !

  • i know all about this shit i am Indian and i heard all kinds of shit come out of white ignorants peoples mouths all my life those idiots have hung innocent men woemn and children because of the color of skin !

  • The original Teabagger.

  • @AtlasShruggery Dumbest comment ever.

  • Sidney Lumet, one of the great film directors (1924-2011).

  • Diversity is crap. Plain and simple. Don't believe me, go live in Detroit for the summer.

  • @booncollection Hey stupid, perhaps you should go to Netflix and rent this movie, maybe it will open your mind

Reading stuff other than Mein Kampf or the Turner Diaries helps also(Try Mark Twain)

  • @mjstbnsn The content of fictional works will not change the reality. Go have a look at the videos in my favorites. That's a little slice of "diversity" reality in the safety of your own living room.

  • @booncollection Like white people have never fought like that before? White people invented the atomic bomb.

  • Comment removed

  • @booncollection

You're crap. Now shut up and don't open your mouth again!

  • @BXCALI lol good come back bro

  • What's going on with 11 people disliking this clip? Are they making a stand for prejudice?

  • @gmacpurifier Clearly, they were just looking for that 12th angry man.

  • R.I.P

  • R.I.P. Sidney Lumet,

Ed Begley deserves huge credit for this scene!

  • one of my favorite movies. When i heard of Sidney's passing i thought of this scene

  • The name of Sidney Lumet will stand forever in the history of cinema as one of our greatest directors. Thank you, Sidney Lumet, for your genius.

  • He was one of the greats.

  • One of my favorite films. God bless Mr. Lumet's soul.

  • RIP man...

  • RIP lumet

  • R.I.P. Sidney Lumet

  • R.I.P. Sidney Lumet

  • @AMember2 He's dead? When did this happen? He was still alive last time I checked . . .

  • "This is how you deal with prejudice. "

    And Trolls...

  • Interestingly enough, 10 is a Malcolm Expy in the 1997 movie.

  • This is my favorite movie

  • lololol

  • Jury member #4 is my favorite.

  • Lulz I'm playing juror ten for my school play. I like this guys job tho

  • wats this movie about? seems interesting, did they make a re-make?

  • he's confusing his jew, gook and nigger sterytypes...but the kid was WHITE!

  • @unassumption the kid is supposed to be latino.

  • How did this guy get jury duty? He spouts racism every time he opens his mouth. lol.

  • @Didymosrules

This film was made in 1957.

  • "Now sit down and don't open your mouth again."

  • Greatest movie ever made.

  • I love old american movies. This is one of the best, I've ever seen. It was also a big surprise, when I saw there the actor form my country Jiří (George) Voskovec.

  • I am 18 and this is one of my favorite movies ever.

  • did people in the 50's really behave and talk like that? please a senior citizen answer

  • Check out the video 'Paper, Plastic, or Murder".

  • The remake is a sin. This is the real version

  • This is an example of how the Constitution doesn't protect kids. You're guaranteed an impartial Jury, except for one thing: Juries can have men, women, blacks, white, latinos, but NO MINORS!

If you're 17 and on trial, you're not going to have any of your "peers" on the jury because 17 year olds can't serve on juries. You'll be judged by older people who are prejudiced against kids.

  • at that time the majority would have been racist and shared that view, so its a bit unrealistic how they all stand up and turn away, and they are all white.

  • @innit27 this film represents an ideal..also in 1957 i think blacks prob would have still been segregated, though im not sure.

  • @milosbez my ideal film would be carry on shagging

  • @innit27 loool you just made me realise what a hilarious name 12 angry men would be for a porno

  • @milosbez i thought it was a porno. 12 sweating men trapped in a room faced with a big dilemma..who do we fuck first.

  • @innit27 Lol :-D

Actually this is a porn. This is a porn for people, who like brilliant drama as well as I do.

  • This is what people should be doing to the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck. But these days they get multi-million dollar contracts.

  • ya know what I mean?

  • I'm on a jury right now for murder and I am basically Henry Fonda right now ... it's not easy but i'm sticking to my beliefs

  • I have jury duty in 2 weeks

  • @HRVATZD Do you prefer "Spiderman" then? I bet you do. ;p

"12 Angry Men" is just a legend of a movie. End of.

  • @EmpiresEagle

yes of course....spiderman is a modern classic

  • @HRVATZD

Spiderman is a film for Saturday evenings, popcorn and drinking, just plain old fun-having... 12 Angry Men is a film for open minds, for thinking and thought-shaping, as well as fighting prejudice.

  • @blackwater009

movies are supossed to be for fun not for thought-shaping ....thats what books are for...

  • @HRVATZD

No, there are books for fun and books for mind-shaping, there are also movies for fun and for mind-shaping... Actually, anything that can affect mind or opinion should do so, and films are no exception. You should read a book here and there. A philosophical one.

  • @blackwater009

    No tnx....I have a life...

  • @HRVATZD

If you did, we wouldn't be having this argument, would we?

  • @blackwater009

ha ha ha...I have a life and I feel sorry for you....but this was funny!

  • @HRVATZD

  • 10 viewers are fascists

  • i had to watch this in my group dynamics class in college i love this movie the remake sucks though.

  • AMAZING MOVIE

  • MAZING MOVIE

  • What a fucking awesome film this is.

  • If we had a lot more like Henry Fonda coming in from the left, and Jimmy Stewart coming in from the right the world would be in safer hands..

Davis: No jury can declare a man guilty unless it's sure, we nine can't understand how you three are still so sure.

Smith: I wouldn't give two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain everyday kindness

Instead we have Glenn Beck and Rosie O'Donnell... Damn

  • @krevno Outstanding assessment.

  • @krevno yes. That is certainly true.

  • Red Buttons, Henry Fonda, and Humphrey Bogart. Epic.

  • The final scene where the juror rips his son's photo is the first time I've ever cried watching a movie.

  • @TheFounders Excluding that one of course...yeah i forgot about that one as i was writing that comment...I was more thinking of a Michael Bay remake staring Shia and the Pratt douche as the jurors...now THAT is scary

  • If this was ever remade, I would disown Hollywood...seriously, it just should NEVER be done

  • Know what I mean?? love that phrase

  • One of THE BEST long takes ever :)

  • Great part

  • this movie is shown in IIM Ahmedabad every year as part of there leadership training.

people, you can learn alot from this movie.

    a must watch.

  • screw 12 angry jurors remake! they can suck the huge dick of this movie. It's the best!

  • to quiet someone doesn't make prejudice go away. reasoning and discussing does

  • now sit down and dont open your mouth again.that goes to all the racists.

  • only reasoning can kill prejudice ...reasoning from the listener's side...

  • amazing film. shows that you don't need all kinds of special effects and stuff. all you need is a great story and great actors. simple yet elegant.

  • A long time ago my Dad used to let me watch late films on BBC2. Sunday night. Next day school. I asked if I could watch the film one night and it was 12 Angry Men. His reply: Watch this one son. You might learn something. Great advice and a great film. Should be shown in schools around the world.

  • Everybody in the world should do this to Glenn Beck.

  • @Solar2 Jesus! I'm conservative and I think the guy is wacky at times, but do we have to bring up freaking politics into every god damn subject?

  • @TideatMileHigh this subject is politics. . . Bringing in modern day talkshow personalities isnt off topic.

  • HI MS DELANEY!!!! :)
