DId you need any patches? I tried to play on my Win Xp with a patch and still, it won't work. The video at the beggining, I can see. But when it comes to the main menu, it just crashes. Can you tell me if you play the game in a certain screen resolution?

@rub1k Actually, I had the same problem and after many tries the game worked. And it still works only with the .ISO file and the XP patch.

Its just as technolgy (CPU's & GPU's) power increases and they become more effiecent at using/handling resources, graphics fildelity increases. 10yrs from now the PS3's graphics will look really dated & a bit crap. Technology is always advancing, its always moving foward & becoming more powerful with each generation.

Beautiful!!! The cars had a rare and dificult handling (primitive, I guess) but this game brought lots of fun to me. Loved the night stages. Cool video, guys!!

@TheDM75 Have you ever played this? It feels nothing like Dirt 2. I find the steering too heavy in Dirt 2. Rally cars are supposed to have light steering because you need to make quick adjustments.

Looking back on this indepth series now, i'd probably rate Codemaster's piece of ingenuity as the best rally series of all time. Loved the Xbox versions personally and it was obvious Colin McRae's contribution from the begining was crucial for developers getting the handling mechanics bang on. Real shame what happened to Colin and his son in 2007, don't think the WRC will ever see another character as ballsy as him again, an very talented feller indeed imo! R.I.P. Enjoyed your review dudes!!! :D

I bought this game and the sequels 2.0 and 04. Unfortunately the steering and driving physics became terrible unplayable on the PC since CMR 2005. DiRT is a big mistake, and in DiRT 2 you can not control the cars well in the PC version . Codemasters should remind at this very first two rally games where driving was a real great thing!

But remember that Colin McRae's last days were in the X-Games(remember that historic duel against Travis Pastrana back in '06 I think). And BTW, what I seem to hate in DiRT is, now the spotlight seems to be placed on Ken Block, who's more of a commercial brat, unlike the legendary McRae (he should be a saint or a god right now :) )

For everyone complaining about DIRT games, did it ever occur to you that by making a subset of the series Codemasters wanted to differentiate it from the other games? DIRT is not a replacement but an addition to the series. Who's to say a traditional Colin McRae game won't show up in the future?

DIRT 2 is fantastic game, easily my favourite driving game. I love the other games in the Colin McRae series, but the awesome feeling you get sliding round corners, clearing jumps etc. can't be beat :)

To be honest, Dirt 1 wasn't that bad and included a lot of classic rally cars but with Dirt 2 they added tons of crap like Trailblazer, Raids and X-Games which kinda sucked as I really only wanted to drive rallys. It was an even greater pity cause the game physics are near perfect in the Rally stages.
