I am not hating on the Grendel but why not the Creedmoor? The only down side I have found to the Creedmoor is that its a little bit more expensive and harder to find. Other than that It seems to do much better in my experience than the Grendel over 400 yards. Anyways, I might be the only one asking this but is that really the old school leatherwood cam scope that is sick haha
I heard of problems with the Enidine buffers, though I have never tried them.
I have built another 6.5 upper since this one. 18" LW SPR profile barrel with a Warped brake. Recoil is much reduced. That brake really seems to do it's job.
there ain't much need for safety glasses. the only reason would be for it kicking back. people shouldn't shoot if they can't control the kick. just my opinion.
push it straight in from the top! HAHA, i know its wrong
well, the safety glasses are for just in case the firing pin ruptures the case, or any other cartridge problem that can send out burning hot gasses straight towards your face
hmmmmm I shoot with safety glasses when shooting clays- bits rain down on you from different stands especially if it's windy or perhaps (i don't) if you were shooting steel plates up close, but for paper punching with rifles I don't see where they are nessecary.....
It is customary for most folks to refer to inanimate objects in the feminine (i.e. cars are her/she, ships are her/she, riffles are her/she), and rifles of the AR pedigree are known as The Black Rifle.I think you can guess by now that I was referring to the riffle as the black girl ;-)
Technically yes, it holds five, but the magazine won't latch into place on a closed bolt.
It's not really more expensive than a .308 or .243. Ammunition is actually a little cheaper than .308. AA 123grain Scenars go for around 24 bucks a box, while Federal Goldmetal match .308, last I checked, was around 30 something a box. And if you want to just plink around, wolf is around 11 dollars a box.
No, I built the upper from parts. It's an Alexander Arms 16" barrel though. I get around 2600 fps muzzle velocity with the wolf.
The scope is indeed a Leatherwood M1000 ART. Mechanically, it's nice. And it seems to be pretty clean optically too. They are made in China, and the finish isn't anything like that of pricier scopes, but then it's not a pricy scope. It's definately worth the money. And the cam is more versatile than I originally anticipated.
What temp and approx altitude? Looking back at all of the data that has been collected on this round on the 65grendel site, it doesn't seem practical to get 2600fps from the MPT out of a 16" barrel
Actually, that isn't an accurate MV. It helps to open the Chrony all of the way. My crony hangs on the tripod a bit, preventing it from opening all of the way. It's an easy thing to over look, and it gives wrong readings.
The real MV is in the area of 2350 to 2450 or so. If I remember correctly. This is similar to what I get with the AA 123s, which I think might be a tad higher.
ahhh I knew that your name was familiar from somewhere. Just saw your chrono post on the forum. I'm RU Grendel over there. We have had this discussion briefly over there

Does "Sis" do many pushups? Man, she's built! LOL! JK
Seems she's flinching a little bit... does the Grendel kick or is she just "soft shouldering" it?
I have an 18.5 SPR with a collapsible stock with a Vortex on the muzzle that doesn't (seem to) kick that bad.
Have you tried the Enidine hydraulic buffer?
It took the sting out of mine and made followup's easier.
BTW, nice rifle man!
You on the 6.5 Grendel board? Great place for advice, reloading and all other things Grendel.

She doesn't shoot much.

And yeah, I'm on the Grendel board.

How do you like the Wolf brand ammo for the Grendal? Work out good?
Plisky 3 years ago
The wolf is actually pretty good for the cost. It shoots a little over a minute for me, but it's cheap.
Rambozo79 2 years ago
Correct, believe it is a Shaw. Is the brake for the 308/AR-10 or 5.56 and re-tapped/bored?
Glane5910 3 years ago
It's the .308 brake
Rambozo79 3 years ago
What muzzle brake are you using? What barrel is it?
Glane5910 3 years ago
It's a PWS DNTC brake. And one of the AA 16" barrel and bolt combos, which I think is Shaw.

is this round European , just wondering

American actually.

HA showed you! holds five!
how much more expensive is this than say .243 or .308?
nice rifle though... too bad we can only have them in straight pull here in the UK

Is that the Alexander Arms 24" upper or complete rifle? Also, is that a Leatherwood ART? If so is it as competent as the company claims? Nice piece.

Have you shot these through a chrono? Is this the MPT or SP Wolf? 2600fps from a 16" barrel seems optimistic.
Salemlax22 3 years ago
Yes, the MPT. I took chrony readings at both the muzzle and 100yd mark.

I lose about 150fps at 100yds

Cool, I remember. So you know all about it then. I haven't yet tried to verify to verify any ballistic coefficient at 500 meters yet.
I don't imagine it matters much anyway. The ammunition isn't quite as consistent as I would like.
Haven't gotten my order of 123 Scenars from AA yet.
