Thanks to liberal policy the world economy is crashing. We must do two things to stop the meltdown NOW!!! Firstly, we need to raise all payroll taxes 10% for one year. We also need to stop (right now) wasteful handout programs like medicare, social security, unemployment,, etc. and lower the minimum wage to $2/hr so we can compete with China. I will work with Cantor, Perry, Ryan and my other republican colleagues and take immediate action on these proposals. God bless the GOP!

Nonsense, thank President Obama if your check doesn't come, because we have enough to pay those already on Social Security if the Treasury Dept. writes the check and only the president decides who gets the checks.....so it's all on the prez.

This video is a LIE! We already deserve less than a triple A rating. If we default, thank Giethner and President Obama for not doing their job. We know Obama was busy campaigning 3 nights a week, but they were waned by the rating agencies in March that we had to lower the debt by 4T. Raising the debt ceiling is "a failure of leadership" Sen.BHO, and is only masking the problem, while kicking the can past the next election date. If we default, Obama will have chosen to do so. We have the $.
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure,” the senator thundered. “Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. ...Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren.”
@Panchee123 -- Easy, "a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism". Right wing Republicans, the tea party, have nothing but contempt for the rule of law and for the constitution. In a constitutional democracy like ours everyone has to compromise. That is the nature of a democracy. Right wing tea party members refuse to compromise. They want to DICTATE to everyone else.
@Panchee123 -- The vote by the people on health care was through our duly elected representatives. Did you miss 8th grade civics? We elect people to represent us who then pass legislation with the force of law. But because there are other people in the world neither you nor I always get our way. We both have to compromise. That's what democracy is all about.
The Tea Partiers by refusing to compromise and reach consensus and trying to DICTATE their will over all are fundamentally un-democratic.

@1noen1 Republican's aren't the one's with theories of 'Revolution' embedded in it's conservative ideology. But Democrats have an ideology caked with that shit, socialism, which gives way to communism. So be honest about which side is all about that shit.
@DOHC2L -- "Republican's aren't the one's with theories of 'Revolution' embedded in it's conservative ideology." Total nonsense. They talk about it all the time on wing nut radio. "We have to take our contry back because there's a BLACK man in da WHITE house!!!

@1noen1 ""We have to take our contry back because there's a BLACK man in da WHITE house!!!"
You know that's bullshit, why must people like you always project the view onto conservatives that they are racist? That is a willful deceit, it is a lie. If you truly believe what you believe, you don't need to lie. I applaud the quote from the movie, that's great sarcasm my friend.
@DOHC2L -- "you always project the view onto conservatives that they are racist". There is considerable evidence that the tea party movement is motivated at least in part by racism. David Neiwert has documented it at length on his blog "Orcinus". The murder of nine year old Brisenia Flores by tea party leader Shawna Forde was motivated by race. It is also well known that the tea party is a astro turf org funded by the radical Bircher's the Koch brothers.
The interest the U.S. pays on its debt, about 1.6% of GDP, is less than the boom years of the 1980s and 1990s and for most of the last decade and is lower than at any point since the 1970s. Under Ronald Reagan, the first George Bush, and Bill Clinton, payments on federal debt often got above 3% of GDP. Under Bush junior, payments were about where they are now. There IS NO debt emergency except for the one republicans are manufacturing. Laughingly, we are in collective hysteria.
@homewired1 YOU lie. This ad says "America won't be able to pay ALL of its bills" That's true. It also says "Social Security checks, veterans benefits, military pay - all COULD BE at risk". That's also true. Why don't you give us specific quotes in this ad which actually aren't true so that we can then respond with some PROVEN republican lies? The debt ceiling needs to be raised to pay past-due expenditures. What would happen to you if you defaulted on your car loan or mortgage?
@homewired1 Tax revenues are way down due to the Bush recession and tax dodging corporations. Private-sector job loss (tax payers) under Bush was more than 800,000 his last month in office. Then, the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act" was signed into law by Obama and job losses were slowed but we have only begun to recover the volume of tax payers. Bush's wars and tax cuts alone caused more than half of the deficit. His tax cuts caused even less revenue coming in.
Another problem is entitlements in America I vaguely remember this guy named President John F. Kennedy asking us to "ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country." Smart guy. I don't have a problem w/ poor or disabled people on welfare but the current economic model of the mass living off the minority is an unsustainable model for economic growth and development.
Btw I don't have a problem if wealthy people pay a little more.
I got novel idea if you can't pay for it don't buy it and live on budget. I have to live on a budget and I don't buy things that I can't afford. What makes Congress so special that they don't need to live on a budget?

It's critical to point the blame squarely where it belongs.
I work as hard as the rich and don't want to be penalized by loss of benefits
while they garner tax breaks just because they have friends in the right places
and can afford to lobby
