in Australia, it cost me $448 dollars for this warranty... but i'm guessing it'll be worth it! I've ordered my first ever mac and it'll arrive in a week or 2 hopefully.... yay!
Uh, my Dell came with a warranty that covers ANYTHING. I can bring it to DELL and throw it on the floor in front of them and they'll fix it...and fix it now. But guess what...I've never had to use if for anything. I use that computer 8 to 15 hours a day, and never have an issue. The hard drive is 3 years old and PERFECT. My Macs always have to be repaired, even with the little they get used. And now to hear you say that the OS became corrupted...what? "Holy SHIT!" is all I can say.
They must really like you, I use to facilitate Apple warranties through CompUSA and Apple would reject so-many warranty claims. It's sad, these people already got totally hosed on a overpriced laptop then paid again for a warranty and got told no by apple.
I would always get it. You will have no idea how many times my Macbook Pro broke down. In the end, they gave me a unibody Macbook Pro (i5) to replace my early 2008 Macbook Pro :D
I've been a Mac user since 89, owned one since 94, and am now a business owner with eight Macs in our shop. I've owned 15 Macs. In May, I had my first ever Mac desktop failure, when our 4 1/2 year old G5 got a coolant leak. Applecare wouldn't have helped with that. I've never bought AppleCare for a desktop. The laptops are another story. My Powerbook 170 had problems, my G3 Pismo had problems. I just replaced the Pismo with a MacBook Pro, and I got the Applecare for it. I'll need it.
I think Apple care is well worth the price for some users. I would not buy it, but I would spend the time to do all the fixes myself. Yeah, I'm sure they can do it faster, and if my motherboard went bad, I might be SOL, but I think Apple makes good products, slightly overpriced, but good so I don't think I need to worry about it, and $250 can go to something else. Buy laptop insurance though incase it gets stolen! If you don't have it now, I would recomend it today. I've had 3 stolen. =(
I paid for an Applecare warranty and they refused to repair it - why, my son is a smoker. Now I know non-smokers are seen as lowest of the low by smokers BUT I paid for a warranty and Apple know that 25% of UK customers are smokers - they take the money and don't include an exclusion. If you are a smoker - don't bother. If you have the chance, watch the video I made. They said the computer was a biohazard!! /watch?v=-1W_TlOhXBE
im debating on buying applecare...apple said my deadline is this december ... although im sure its worth it, i'm very frustrated that its so much money...300$. but to break it down, its really 100$ every year....so why cant i just pay year after year instead of all together... damn you apple bastards!
this is where apple is like microsoft. they are a bit over priced for such unstable hardware i've known so many people with mac hardware replacement issues within a year.
so then applcare is like a 3 year warranty? i thought it was just likeee uhhh, you are able to call them and get help etc. if its warranty, i think its worth it.
Yes it is worth it; i had the version a macbook pro and the logic board died 16 months after puchase; replacement price? $2500; price of a new machine.
Well if those were within the span of one year that would ALL be free no questions asked... Except for the phone support, but it's quicker to go to the store anyway.
@igniar I agree. You have no idea how many times I've had to say "That's not MY milf pr0n. It's my buddy's. He must've been messing around on it. Hehehe. Um...yeah..."
all that said, I just wish they wouyld drop their prices, and put more ram in their mac book pro and a quad core, prosesor and and bigger hard drives all and all i just wish their prices were better, I only intended to spend a max of 1000 dollars and I ended up droping 16, to 1800 for the 3 year warenty and vyres protection, and then a mistake i made messed up a partitions part of the hard drive, and i had to spill 50 bucks more case it was not covered on the soft ware warranty.
I want a mac, for at least 5 years now I have wanted one more each year; but I have never been willing to splurge, as munch as i think I could probably get more out of the 1,800 give or take a hundred or so dollars I forgot how munch exactly i spent on my computer if i put it in to a mac, I would have actually had to spend another 1,500 minimum on top of that to get close to every thing I would want my mac to be, and I don't have that, and never have.see next comment...
from my last comment... I do, and I have a HP and it has a Quad Cor Processor , 6gigs of ram,a and a 600+ hard drive. while its the best working computer i have ever had. I know that I am not getting every thing i want out of it. see next comment
so when your surching for friends on myspace, etc do windows pop up telling you your computer is infected etcs and try to make impossible to tell the difference between an internet add and your computer windows software windows etc
Yes! If you own any laptop from any company you should get the extended warranty. Laptops statistically will need repairing! And its EXPENSIVE out of warranty. This is not an Apple thing, its an EVERYONE thing. Keep in mind you have one full year of use before you buy the Applecare extension. Spend that money before that first year is up!
Yep they ae. It's just *in case* something happens to it. like you fry it, somehow. Pcs just get damaged A LOT easier, i switched to a mac a year ago today, form been living with PCs since then, and I'll NEVER switch back.
I totally agree with you Candice, at the end of the day it is piece of mind, should anything happen to it you are covered and if nothing happens then you are luck, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Fantastic video Candice and a massive help to new Mac owners and potential Mac owners
Great video...i was on the line about purchasing the Applecare. My only problem is, there is no Apple Store near me. So how do i get the most out of the service if icant just walk into the strore???
thats the same issue with me, but if you contact apple, they will send u a box and all you have to do is put the laptop in the box. Shipping is covered. They will get it back to you VERY quickly.

Haha that was so funny at the end xD My trackpad is no longer fully recessed into my MacBook Pro's enclosure but I'm covered by Apple Care so looks like I'll be heading down to the Apple Store sometime soon.
