  • @archmage9078 agreed

  • Much, much better than this 'Mrs Brown's boys' crap

  • I'm proud to be Irish because of this show but I will give the Brits respect because RTE wouldn't produce but the Brit's did and if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have this show.

  • @taralovesliam true

  • @taralovesliam I hate RTE with a passion! Such an awful broadcaster!!

  • @xCraiig I can't watch RTE without falling asleep XD

  • 'He won't like that.. '

  • The show was Written by, Directed and Starred Irish People.

It was Produced by English people and aired on an English Station.

    So there you have it.

  • Marvellous. There are some very silly people in the world though. It's a genuis comedy - not a subject for spurious political 'debate'. Fer feck sake.

  • GOD..... I love father Ted, he is great and the money was only resting in his account, please forgive.

  • yawn this argument is getting really, really boring.

  • It's Irish, It's Irish and It's Irish..No trace of English in it!!

  • @birdy424 If it wasn't for the brits we wouldn't have it.

  • Father Ted....he looks like an old Daniel Radcliffe(Harry Potter).

  • is it a kinda newdy ting father?

  • Can it just be agreed that Father Ted has Irish AND English roots?

  • @SuperCeol No because its all about irish people.

  • @JordoF6 Who it's about doesn't define the source of it. That's like saying if I wrote a romance involving people in Japan then it's a Japanese romance. Rubbish argument. To avoid argument I'd call it a UK comedy since most of the world don't seem to know of England as country. Personally I say it's the writers who make the comedy but that's iffy too, if they were living in England not Ireland then.. I dunno what I'd say on this one myself

  • Well you can't really blame people for thinking that when it was produced by a British production company for a Britsh TV channel. At the end of the day it's a collaboration between Irish writers and a British production company. It was a joint effort... and a great one at that.

  • Lots of these signs at the protest yesterday hahaha

  • This is my local (long closed down sadly) cinema. Makes me smile every time I pass by :)

  • Is it a type of nudey thing is it? lmao xD

  • RIP Dermot Morgan

  • @doyker Careful now.

  • the studio audience was laughing, but they were filming on location outside..... how the hell does that work ?

  • @jeremycobert Feck off.

  • @jeremycobert during a recording of a show, the audience sees the studio-based action, and reacts in real-time. When a piece shot outside is shown, the audience sees it on screens and laughs along, as they would with the studio-based stuff. Their reaction is recorded, and played over the show as normal.

  • we were doing a production of hairspray and we had to make signs for the protest scene, guess what was written on 2 of the signs :L

  • Bishop Brennan is so hilarious!!

  • Never mind where the fuck it was made. Its great comedy....

  • Willies is rounder at the top :D

  • Ah, that was our local cinema in Greystones, County Wicklow... It's long closed now... *sniff* Oh, the memories! :)

  • Come on, channel4, you're meant to be a professional television station. Don't desecrate a clip of the wonderful, 4:3 aspect ratio-ed Father Ted by stretching it out to 16:9, that's what clueless amateur YouTube uploaders do. In other words, DOWN WITH THIS SORT OF THING!

  • @geekymarianne

    (careful now)

  • "well, i'll be off"

  • i miss ireland so much, i used to watch it on tv4

    ..oh sweet memories

  • Careful now!

  • Is it a type of nudey thing Father???

  • Although I'm just catching on, I'm falling in love with this delicious British comedy. I want more!!

  • @kairi3177 ahem you mean Irish..

  • @PJMGvidz My bad....

  • @PJMGvidz It's a British comedy, but the writers were Irish.

  • @skyhawk431 actors were irish too..irish comedy

  • @PJMGvidz It was made in Britain and was intended for British audiences, however the writers were Irish, the actors were Irish and the setting is Irish, so I guess you're right.

  • @skyhawk431 other than the channel/broadcaster there is nothing British about it

  • @Jbpc9 Ohh stop trying to claim ownership like the show was exclusively meant for the Irish only. It's produced by a British production company for a major British TV channel, written by two irish guys who live in London and do most of their work in England. The show's roots are Irish AND British.

  • @wurble its a show written by 2 Irish writers, filmed in Ireland, about 3 Irish priests, living in Ireland, played by Irish actors. Sorry but that makes it Irish in my book.

  • @Jbpc9 Only the outdoor scenes were filmed in Ireland. All the interior scenes... which makes about 90% of the show, were filmed at London studios. I know that must pain you, being a hater of the English and all.

  • @wurble I ain't no hater, i'm just a little fed up of you brits claiming everything as your own

  • Father Ted – are you sure that he’s dead?

I thought I saw him only yesterday, Ned.

    He’s dead! Really dead!

That is such a shame; he was a great priest, Ned.

But he’s dead, really dead, Ned said.

(Do you think THEY did away with him, Ned?)

  • DOWN WITH THIS SORT OF THING!.. careful now.

  • 14 dumbasses have no sense of humour!

  • Not at all, sure Billy's is rounder at the top...

LOL, The Crying Game is a good film though.

  • For fuck sake is there anything in this world we can't turn into a racist fight between the Irish and the English?

I love father ted. I'm Irish and I DO NOT hate the English.

We need to move on. Seriously.

  • @Marteezels It's very lame isn't it.

  • He got his lad out

  • Careful Now

  • loved the amount of replicas of the signs during the student protest a few months ago!

  • @Shemesis

been at every protest since this episode was broadcast.

  • @30Ciaran good man :)

  • My friend went to one of the protests in London a few weeks ago with a sign that said "Down with this sort of thing" xD

  • @rexana Your friend isn't very original then. That's a common sight at protests. In Ireland, at least.

  • @rexana Public sector leech are they? Scum.

  • gotta love father ted and co

  • 13 priests disliked this

  • That would be an ecumenical matter

  • Great show, but Channel 4 has uploaded the wrong aspect ratio :/

  • Why do people always turn anything Irish related in to some form of political debate? There are plenty of other clips on YouTube or better still, other sites on the bloody internet where you can argue! Jesus Christ on a pushbike. Enjoy the clips and stop being so uptight all your bloody lives...

  • Father Ted is the best comedy ever written but unless ur Irish u wont fully understand it

  • @TheMandaxx Having an Irish mother has helped me understand many of the tiny things that won't be obvious to people in Britain or the rest of the world! Making it all the more hilarious!!!

  • @NewspaperJoeUK ha ha yeah it def would help. I remember the shop like John and Marys, they were all over Ireland in the tourist areas. With blow up beach balls and wind mills outside. The fun fairs were just like the one on Craggy Island, and some eejit was always letting u stay in their crap heap of a caravan lol all these and many others make it so funny

  • @TheMandaxx bullshit

  • @santanocci yes ur full of it well done for taking the first step

  • @santanocci ...so your not even irish! but by dint of having an irish mother your complete understanding of irish humour is better than everyone elses understanding....you have indeed made one of the most inane postings yet on you tube...you poseur..pat yourself on the back you grandiose exponent of world humour...tosspot

  • @santanocci No you won't. You won't get all the jokes and references unless you grew up in Ireland at that time.

  • Can someone explain me what Father Dougal means with Careful now? It makes me laugh but i don't know what it means XD.

  • Rounder at the top....those ladies are crazy like Hitler or those mad fellas

  • Comment removed

  • Careful Now!

  • omg!! hahahahah!! this is really funny, love that show

  • Without Dermot Morgan this would have been an entirely different show...understated comedy brilliance. Thanks for the laughs Dermot RIP

  • "he got his lad out...."

  • the 1 thing ireland can b proud of this comedy

  • Such folks are such prudes if they condemn this

  • Funny as feck.

  • Genius. I'm an American and I view "Father Ted" as the best situation comedy in the past thirty years. Not one bad episode. RIP, Dermot.

  • "just testing?" :-)

  • careful now

  • 13 people think Lenny Henry is the pinnacle of comedy.

  • I really want to stand next to the prolife people in Cork and say this).

  • easily the best thing ireland has produced, next to vampires.

  • @DALEK86 What about Paths to Freedom or Adam & Paul (the antidote to trainspotting)

  • billys is rounder at the top.lol

  • I noticed that too, i kind of stole the idea and made one for our student protest yesterday.. and left it at home! ;/

    Good stuff.

  • There was a Down with this sort of thing Banner at the London Protest today

  • @as260191 I gave you thumbs up because that is why I am here...lol

  • @mehmetinho9 Ehhh no.

  • @mehmetinho9

y'know, we dont ONLY drink beer...

  • I must say, this comment thread is almost funnier than the clip. Well done, lads.

  • is it the top half or the bottom half? :L classic episode :) shame it wasnt first shown on RTE. to be honest irish comedy is the best comedy in the world :) even better than english comedy :L

  • @pyjama35 Correction... Irish comedians and writers are funny; Irish sitcoms and sketch shows on the other hand usually aren't. But that's RTE's fault.

  • Typical protestants, up to no good!

  • adverts on a clip??? FUCKING FAIL

  • Irish accents TURN ME ON!

    Woo Father Ted :D

  • @mehmetinho9 what have you got against the irish

  • @john43l irish are LOL

  • @mehmetinho9 Fuck you ya dirty english cunt.

  • @monreader at least we can afford tea you green irish jig leprechaun. go and drink guinness in your potholes.

  • @mehmetinho9 That is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. You thick English Wanker.

  • @monreader haha england is more ace than irePAND

  • @mehmetinho9 you're a thick little backward chavvy cunt and no one likes you.

  • @ste43 mate, you can't even afford your own channels in ireland, you mooch on english tv and send emails begging them to show father ted.

if theres going to be any non-english comedy, it should be still game or chewin the fat or even rab c nesbitt

    so fuck off leprechaun/

  • @mehmetinho9 I'm not your mate you thick chavvy cunt and eh, Father Ted? that's hilarious if you think RAb C or Still game is funnier than Father Ted and practically all of UK and Ireland would disagree with you. and just to educate you, we have all our own channels here plus all of yours, never hear of RTE no? it's been around nearly as long as the BBC you fucking donkey. and Father Ted had the biggest ratings of any show on Channel Four on Fridays.

  • @mehmetinho9 and eh, leprechaun? if you seen me you wouldn't think I was a leprechaun, in fact from the ground I'd look very big while I'm doin a riverdance all over your face you scummy knacker chav cunt, bet I could throw it into your missus right in front of you and you wouldn't even have the bottle to go up and say something to me.

  • @mehmetinho9 Why the fuck would UK play Father Ted just because IReland suggests it? If BBC didn't want to play it's give us the finger and not think about it again.

And for what it's worth, you can hardly call England English anymore, considering more than half the people in it are Polish.

  • @Wikipediot Funny you should mention trek... watch?v=CHsoPPynIIc

  • @clubpenguin1212100 Hi mate. Father Ted was a joint effort between Ireland, and England. So you need to re-evaluate your comments :)

  • @clubpenguin1212100 so you're a hateful bigot who approves with twisted terrorist groups then. fuck off.

  • @mehmetinho9 "England is more ace" what age are you?? If you hate Irish comedy so much then what are ya doing watching Father Ted videos?? I bet ya wear your ma's undies when your in the house on your own.

  • @mehmetinho9

english people SUCK. at least we irish dont going around ending words that end in an ''a'' with ''er''

  • @clubpenguin1212100 XD An Irish person slagging another accent! :D

Off you go and drink your guinness and eat potatoes in your potholes, leprechaun

  • @mehmetinho9

gladly! anyway, whats wrong with irish accents? im from dublin so i dont have a country accent.

  • @clubpenguin1212100 What's wrong with a country accent?. Ehem.

  • @clubpenguin1212100 you claim theres nothing wrong with irish accents and then try do defend yourself by saying you dont have a country accent, as if that would be a bad thing. As for your other comments, it's people like you who give Ireland a bad rep.

  • @clubpenguin1212100

    nack(er)

  • @CiaranOD67

im not a naker. i have a normal dublin accent not a real nakery one. :P
