I cannot find 100 or 95 watt incandescent light bulbs in the stores any more. but it does not matter, I started stocking up in 2008 and I think I have enough for a minimum of 15 years, maybe more.

I hate CFLs as they are a bitch to dispose of correctly. But I am all for LEDs (Once they come down in price) My problem with the ban is Dimmable CFLs suck, they die faster than a Incandescent and cost a shit ton more. I have 8 Dimmable Sockets at $8 a piece. That is $64 rather than 2 dollars for 8.

Meantime, i havent changed an incandescent light bulb for almost 2 years now. And im gettting the light quality that i like and want. So its a win, win situation for me

CFL bulbs come in various color temps --daylight, warm, etc. Many options more than incandescent. You can't tell the difference between an incandescent and a warm CFL. It's the same light, just produced by different means. So your opinion seems to be based in lack of experience. I worked in the movie industry and worked with lighting..

Do you know what color temperature means? I've got a dozen CFL's in my house that produce 4000k, which is exactly the same as a standard incandescent. It's a warm light, not gloomy. People can't even tell the difference. You're so out of date and arrogant, you've completely closed off your mind to the facts. Instead of arguing with me why don't you look it up? I've started to buy a bunch of the incandescent bulbs. I mostly use Halogen lights in my house but I don't know if they're going to suffer the same fates as standered incandescents.
It's all in responsible use. Turn the lights out when you are not using them. Use them in outfits that make use of both the light and the wasted heat. Use larger wattage sources on portable devices that do not run on the grid. And if it's on a dimmer switch, only use incandescent sources. I can tell very little research has been done on the issue and the ban is premature at best. Other sources that can operate safely on dimmer switches are still in infancy and some things do use the heat.
I can understand stocking up for things like lamps or the odd place you need the brightness of a regular bulb. But why as a matter of principle? Energy saving bulbs save you money.
You'll have the police at your door when they introduce the new "smart meters" and detect that you're using over 100watts of power for an extended period of time M8!!

I like traditional incandescent bulbs and I have stashed away 100s of them like many of these people. Also did you know you can get very good long life incandescents that will last a lot longer than low energy bulbs. I dont mind low energy bulbs for some applications though , Im not totally against them what I object to is being forced to have them we should have a choice. Also all this talk of CO2 and global warming is utter nonsense & nothing to do with anything human beings are doing.

A:I have 25 year old light bulbs, typical A-19's ranging from 60-100 watt and they have been regularly used since they were new.The CFL's in my bathroom were the most terrible lighting experience of my life. 2 of them died at 3 months old,and the rest were dead after 6 months.AND i made sure to open a window to let the steam out.

Here in the US we will be facing a similar ban in a few years. Personally I started using cfl bulbs on my own since they reduce the electricity used for lighting. But I have some regular light bulbs stored away and plan to get more just because I don't like my freedom of choice destroyed. As an option I have no problem saving electricity, but don't force it on me.

Since I put this video up I have bought hundreds more incandescent bulbs. I now have over 700 in total, easily enough to last me even if I live to be 90+.
So as I have a lifetime supply of incandescents this is not an issue for me.
If a better bulb did come onto the market with all these problems sorted, I may well use the new bulb, and flog some of my incandescents on e bay as "Lighting historic memorabilia".

Our CFLs, on 60 Hz, do not show any 120 flash per second flicker: from 1/2+ current and 1/2 - current per cycle. (I expected some flicker.)
The ballast circuits apparently filter out flicker.
In the UK, 50 Hz, flicker from florescent tubes was quite noticeable to me.
One major flaw in CFLs is their switch wear tolerance. I have a cfl in he bath and it's already blackened within a few switches...really rubbish. Unless they have perfected the CFL like dimmability and switch friendly, they are not ready to replace the old style bulbs.

However, any light bulbs that dont meet the standard, WILL in fact, be banned. what u probably dont know is that by 2020, theres gona be a more stricter light bulb efficiency standard here in the US which MIGHT ban almost all incandescents, even the halogen bulb.

CFL bulbs come in various color temps --daylight, warm, etc. Many options more than incandescent. You can't tell the difference between an incandescent and a warm CFL. It's the same light, just produced by different means. So your opinion seems to be based in lack of experience. I worked in the movie industry and worked with lighting..
Energy production is the government's business. You'd certainly whine and blame government if there wasn't any.

Do you know what color temperature means? I've got a dozen CFL's in my house that produce 4000k, which is exactly the same as a standard incandescent. It's a warm light, not gloomy. It's all in responsible use. Turn the lights out when you are not using them. Use them in outfits that make use of both the light and the wasted heat. Use larger wattage sources on portable devices that do not run on the grid. And if it's on a dimmer switch, only use incandescent sources. I can tell very little research has been done on the issue and the ban is premature at best. Other sources that can operate safely on dimmer switches are still in infancy and some things do use the heat.

I like traditional incandescent bulbs and I have stashed away 100s of them like many of these people. Also did you know you can get very good long life incandescents that will last a lot longer than low energy bulbs. I dont mind low energy bulbs for some applications though , Im not totally against them what I object to is being forced to have them we should have a choice. Also all this talk of CO2 and global warming is utter nonsense & nothing to do with anything human beings are doing.

from personal experiense (i dont have many LE bulbs in my house) it takes time for an LE bulb to light up, a god ol bulb lights up instantly.
And the prices on LE bulbs are just ridiculous!
6 - 10 € for 1 (2 if you are lucky) le bulb(s).

Here in the US we will be facing a similar ban in a few years. Personally I started using cfl bulbs on my own since they reduce the electricity used for lighting. But I have some regular light bulbs stored away and plan to get more just because I don't like my freedom of choice destroyed. As an option I have no problem saving electricity, but don't force it on me.

What is your opinion of LED lightbulbs?
What I have seen flicker because of the AC current. In the AC sinewave, there are two places where voltage and current are Zero = no light.
We use both CFLs and regular filament light bulbs.
Hopefully filament lights will neutralize any negative effects caused by using CFLs alone.
Authorities fail to consider that in cold months, heat radiated by filament light bulbs is a plus.
Electricity converted to heat is 100% efficient.

I think they respond to zero voltage periods in each AC signwave even more then fluorescent phosphors.
In England, the flicker of mercury vapor and sodium and fluorescent lights from 50Hz is a little more noticeable than the 60 Hz in the US.

Since I put this video up I have bought hundreds more incandescent bulbs. I now have over 700 in total, easily enough to last me even if I live to be 90+.
So as I have a lifetime supply of incandescents this is not an issue for me.
If a better bulb did come onto the market with all these problems sorted, I may well use the new bulb, and flog some of my incandescents on e bay as "Lighting historic memorabilia".

No. Electric companies are maintaining the same voltage as always.
New bulbs will not cause skin cancer.
But they may flicker 100 times per second - if you are 50 Hz power.
120 times per second if 60 Hz.
Also they may have unusual color characteristics. But I think they are getting better at improving the light spectrum content.
A nurse claims the old tubular fluorescent lights caused her to get headaches or become flush or something. They also flash twice per cycle.

I agree totally on the fascist attitude of the new world order....I hate this too...But what is even worse, is that a French scientific study shows that these low energy light bulbs emit low frequency magnetic fields, which are known to be carcinogenic...Further more, these bulbs contain Mercury which makes them an extremely dangerous item to handle, or to recycle...I hope eventually the truth will come out so widely that they will back down on this low energy craze...

We use CFLs WITH incandescents.
Do the CFLs truly cause fatigue or depression, or is this just psychomatic nonsense. (Meaning: If you are convinced that something will cause a "symptom", it will.)
Our CFLs, on 60 Hz, do not show any 120 flash per second flicker: from 1/2+ current and 1/2 - current per cycle. (I expected some flicker.)
The ballast circuits apparently filter out flicker.
In the UK, 50 Hz, flicker from florescent tubes was quite noticeable to me.

incandescent lightbulb are only a waste of energy: only 6% of energy is converted to light. if you hate cfl lamps, you can mount led lamps.

It's 10% actually. Still, there are disadvantages such as the incomplete spectrum rendering. I will stock up too.

One major flaw in CFLs is their switch wear tolerance. I have a cfl in he bath and it's already blackened within a few switches...really rubbish. Unless they have perfected the CFL like dimmability and switch friendly, they are not ready to replace the old style bulbs.

I have just replaced my so called energy saving
and toxic light bulbs with incandescent ones.
Purchased mine from Poundland 6 for £1 cos
1 energy saving bulb costs £1.99 - stuff the EU
I want to have the choice. Its my electricity bill.
And as for global warming - please sheeple wake up! Anyway got fed up with the strange
yellow glow of the bulbs read they can cause
depression etc etc just google info.

well in the good ole USA and Canada you can have the real deal in bulbs!!!! Im in the UK for the moment but as soon as i get back to Ohio, im gonna go back to my old ways of having 5 tv's on all the lights upstairs and down, and at least once a day im gonna go outside and spray some ozone killing cans,...just to piss off the tree huggin eu fuckheads :)

I have also purchased quite a few fittings for these bulbs, in anticipation of a cretinous EU law that will probably soon come in.
I am shocked too see by a lot of recent comments,(not everyone), by how brainwashed they are by the mainstream media, into believing the Man Made Global Warming Myth.
I would have thought that with the internet and access to far more sources of information that by now most people would have cracked their shell of uninformed stupidity.
