  • Mayor West!!

  • I'm surprised Batarang Lurch, under the assumption he was Solomon Grundy.

  • That was random

  • @Leatherbubba

    Totally...

  • You may return to where? What did batman say to lurch

  • @brownpridehomes "You may return to your harpsicord" which you can hear as they are ascending the wall. Lurch is playing some Addams Family music just like he used to do on his old show.

  • That's more than Lurch ever said on The Addams Family

  • Lurch....

  • Robin: Batman, Why do I have a sudden urge of snapping my fingers?

Batman: I don't know, but I have the same urge...

  • @DaftofWar and you can see the strings that were attached too the capes. lol

  • You rang, Batman?

  • Classic!

  • What year did that air?

  • The Penguins terrific chow is hardly within the budget of the average worker

  • @OnkelStein Fish heads...

  • i remember this episode was on the hub

  • Not that I made it my mission, but, having grown up in the era, I thought I'd seen all of the Batman episodes.

Lurch at the window took me by surprise. The soundtrack rather telegraphed it, though.

  • Uuuurrrrrr

  • You Rang?

  • The Brave and the Bold before Brave and the Bold.

  • Penguin may charge big, but does he hold a gun to their heads to make them his customers?

  • @niflap That's a good point. If people choose to pay his prices, who gives a tin shilling?

  • anyone notice how there is only one building in gotham

  • I remember one AF episode where Gomez and Morticia were returning from a bat hunt, go fetch the net Lurch :)

  • Holy shit Hans "Dolph" Lundgren

  • Good grief, Lurch could have doubled for Solomon Grundy!

  • @NelsonStJames Wow, that's the truth! XD

  • @NelsonStJames Yet he voiced Black Manta on "Challenge of the Superfriends" lol

  • Ohhhhhh

  • The pose batman and robin are in when lurch opens the window is HILARIOUS which is why I lol'd SO hard when Lurch is like "ooohhh" after batman says that they're doing "official business"

*original ambiguously gay duo- Batman and robin*

  • @potentialpenguin well, they're on "official business"

    (lol "ohhhh...")

  • @potentialpenguin I already died watching that part but reading ur comment afterwards I nearly pissed myself. Thanx. lol.

  • The Bat-Climb cameos are another reason why the Batman series is not out on DVD; most of these were uncredited and unpaid appearances, and I read that because of that, the celebs (or estates/families if they're deceased) would have to be paid royalties. Man, you've got two different companies (20th Century Fox and Warner Brothers) who own Batman, then there's the Batmobile designer, the occasional musical number and these cameos...this show will never be on DVD :(

  • @fivebearrugs Well, maybe in about 80 years...

  • @andmaketherain LOL, if we're lucky! :P ;)

  • Instead of Penguin and Marsha, Queen of Diamonds teaming up in a three-part story, it should've been John Astin reprising his role as Riddler. Adding Lurch for the cameo in that story and we would've have a neat little Addams Family crossover :)

  • 0:28 it looks like Batman is ass-raping Robin.

  • WTF is Lurch doing in Gotham?!

  • see the string holding Robin's cape? hahahah

  • Klink? Green Hornet and Kato? LURCH!?!?!?!

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN ALL OF THESE CAMEOS TO ME!?!?!?!?

AND ROBIN PUT SOME PANTS ON!!!!! -.-*

  • @TheLastCurlbender Sorry, they wouldn't let Robin wear pants at the time because tradition kept him in briefs and booties. By the 1980s they were unfashionable and ridiculous, but tradition still forced him to wear them. It wasn't until Robin III in the 1990s that DC finally let him wear leggings and boots, which you can see in the third Batman movie.

  • @Goodiesfanful lol...THANK YOU DC!!! XD (Stupid tradition...)

  • So if I dress up as Batman and climb the side of buildings, citizens will just assume I am Batman and let me continue walking up the side of the building, and ignore me breaking into other people's homes?

  • how they pull this off is there not realy climing there on the ground the cam is just twisted sidewayss

  • Uurrrarrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Do they ever use the stairs? Or would that be too conspicuous?

  • Return to your harpsichord citizen. Freaking Lurch LOL

  • haha i live in vancouver in canada, lurch lives in my gfs complex in surrey, the place is pretty run down too, poor guy.

  • @fuckinfrankwhite Didn't the guy die in the 70s?

  • @AcidGuardianPT thats messed up i just looked it up and it says he died in 79, thats odd :S maybe from the newer addams family series

  • "Yes, we're on official business!"

    "Oooooooh!" *Annoyed glare.

  • Loved these celebrity cameos on Batman-lol

  • The Lurch versus The Batusi. A match for the ages.

  • Lurch looks like Anthony Robbins...

  • @kalitexnis10 Haha He totally does.

  • Love Lurch.

    That voice was amazing.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • POP ART

  • Whenever they would have the wall climbing scenes, I would turn my head sideways and look at walking on the floor. It's funnier looking.

  • notice how close batman is when he says "good thinking robin". hes practically dry humping the boy wonder.

  • Batman should have recruited Lurch to do some major butt-kicking on the Penguin finks!

  • nice to see 2 bois so close

  • Groovie cameo~!

    Timothy

    :o)

  • If they were on there way to save someone. There dead already!

  • The usual walk-on-wall routine. A lot of suspects about Batman and Robin's sexuality were born seeing these sequences, LOL :-P

  • Image Batman farting on Lurch

  • lol!

  • the piano must be like be right at the window for him to get up that fast

  • batman and robin are definitely gay

  • @Silentskip001 hope so , i want a 3sum growlll

  • Ted Cassidy said something other than "You Rang" and groan.

  • why do batman and robin have to share the same rope...

  • Someone needs to combine the window gag with the dog who says "Batman!".

  • "Yes citizen, you may return to your harpsichord."

    I lol'd

  • @mrgumby4200 me too , Im going to say this in general conversation more often

  • im always surprised that the thread that batman and robin use to climb buildings is strong enough to hold them both

  • My God that's FUNNY! You never knew what "citizen" was gonna stick their face out that window. That show was as fun for adults as it was for kids.

  • This is more dialogue than he got in the entire run of his own damn show.

  • Ted Cassidy only had to......growl, or his version of AAARGH..to have me laughing.

such simple, wonderful times long ago.

    jctoronto

  • Could Batman and Robin not use a strongman like Lurch in their mission?

  • There is a famous clip from 11/22/63 - Ted Cassidy was working as a staff announcer for a Dallas TV station and broke the news to Metro Dallas citizens about JFK's shooting. Not sure if it's on YouTube but the clip exists; it has one of those "We'll be right back" cards on screen with Ted's voice. Very bizarre piece of recorded history.

  • For some reason, Lurch doesn't seem so spooky in color.

  • @imlaughing2death But the Cybermen still are spooky even today and in color.. which is to say rather ironic since DW came out in '63 and TAF '64, but hey... at least with Cybermen you could use gold to kill them (why did that become redundant now? I have a gold watch I could use as a shield..) and Lurch would kill you (which I doubt since I don't picture him as a violent man, much) on a dime no need to say "You will be deleted!". History for you I suppose.

  • For those who remember The Incredible Hulk tv series with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, it was Ted Cassidy who did the voice over in the opening credits of each episode telling us the tale of Dr. David Banner.

  • That's good comedy having Ted Cassidy (playing the harpsichord and playing Lurch) in there. Holy good Batprogramming Batman! lol

  • I can't believe I missed this as a kid...

  • Recommended to me by YouTube. It's a bit surreal watching this video. I might as well be permanently stoned after watching this randomly selected video.

  • lol... you gave ME quite a start!! lol

  • This is awesome!

    XD

    I laughed so hard.

Random, convenient humor like this isn't really all that appreciated anymore.

  • Lurch For The Win!!!

  • 0:27 - Holy Sodomy, Batman! That's a tight squeeze you're putting on your young ward.

    ... your young.... supple....

  • :27 - Holy Sodomy, Batman! That's a tight squeeze you're putting on your young ward.

    ... your young.... supple....

  • what a horrible parody of the famous comic book vigilante

  • Oh, thank you!!! Batman really sends me.

  • Robin in those tights is SO gay.

  • @0:40 when robin says Business, he sounds like Sam Keneson

  • Snap! Snap! Adam Family

  • wtf?1 awesome!!!

  • He was an amazing actor. How he could effectively but subtly emote in the Lurch character is mind boggling. Tragedy he never got recognized for it....

  • Ted Cassidy was a very underated actor. But he was so tall that he was soon typecast as nogoodniks & eccentric characters. Good thing he had that great deep voice & was able to do a lot of voice-over work. Sadly he died after having open heart surgery in '79 when he was only 47 years old! "Lurch" was lovable & will live forever in the hearts of those who love that irrepresible Adams Family! THANKS for posting this delightful clip! :)

  • he was 46 when he died

  • He's dead, I don't think he cares

  • @judgedredd123 i was correcting someone thank you very much

  • So sad.....Ted Cassidy seems to be a gentle soul.

  • @JubalCalif Ted Cassidy was a great actor as you mentioned, and he was very underrated. He not only did a great job as Lurch, but he also was the second Big Foot on the Six Million Dollar Man. When you watched the Addams Family, you just knew that Lurch was your friend.

  • "Yes citizen, you may return to your harpsichord."

Words I never thought I would hear Batman say, that's for sure...this show was a tragedy...

  • Shameless plug for another ABC program, "The Addams Family." Did you hear the harpsichord playing the theme? Priceless! I love it, I loved both programs!

  • Comment removed

  • @mbabist01 That was no plug. That was a musical lead-in. That was "Lurch" leaning out the window.okay ..

  • @kaadauwgg Ah, okay, thanks for the correction. I liked that lead-in, thought it was pretty cool.

  • @mbabist01 can never go wrong with an addams family plug...but which batman movie/ show is this?

  • @TheZombiecake666 Not the movie, I've got it. No idea which episode. Sorry.

  • Good points about Solomon Grundy.

  • I still think that a Clerks animated moment with a flower pot falling between them and the question Why are we walking like this?

  • I don't wanna fight you Harvey.

  • Dr. David banner--Physician, scientist....

  • ...cultured man about town....

See what I did there? :P

  • PURE CAMP!!I LOVE IT

  • awesome!

  • LOL LURCH

  • Anybody notice the cameos always appear at the same window?

  • @DonnieTheKing I wish someone who does editing could make a movie of all the cameos as if it had a plot, lol

  • @DonnieTheKing

so you've got green hornet, bruce lee as kato, lurch, dick clark, edward g. robinson and jerry lewis in one room?

    sounds like one helluca party

  • @Cpt50Caliber you forgot santa and colonel clink

  • @Shanethefilmmaker

    ahh thank you :)

  • @Cpt50Caliber and the way I see it is that The party would go along spectacularly, Kato and GH would be working security Edward would be painting the party potrait while lurch plays the music, Then jerry would ruin it by singing, Lurch would start strangling jerry GH and Kato would try to subue him while Edward has Charleton heston on standby incase it got worse. Clink would use that to his advantage and steal the hornets weapons. what would you add to this story.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker

that batman is still standing unusually lose to robin throughout all of this :L

  • @DonnieTheKing Oh, so you've noticed it's always the same window too?

  • The Addams Family theme is playing in the background.

  • Ted Cassidy (Lurch) was also on Lost in Space as the Space Theifs slave assitant.

  • just watching it now--he went too soon at 46.

  • Ironically, Ted Cassidy HATED the stereotype of the tall, silent, sometimes dumb, henchman or butler, whatever. He had harsh words for Richard Kiel as " Jaws ", a Bond villain, for instance.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 But Lurch was hardly dumb. Yes, he didn't talk much, but he was always extremely competent at everything, and was practically a member of the family.

  • @reticulan5 Ted Cassidy was also in "I Dream of Jeannie" a few times. Too bad he never made it big, Hollywood really screwed him over.

  • Lurch looks like Grundy to me.

  • Grundy is a little more stout and has more muscle mass but most likely just as strong if not stronger than Lurch.

  • Yeah but all and all they're very close in appearance.

In some cases Grundy was tall.

I'm surprised Batman didn't think Lurch WAS Grundy. :P

  • Yeah but, was Grundy in these classic Adam West Batman episodes?

  • @gumgumningen No, Solomon Grundy was not in the classic Adam West Batman episodes, but did appear with Adam West as Batman in the gawd awful two parter Challenge of the Superheroes and Roast of the Superheroes.

  • lol...too funny

  • Man, you cut it right before the punchline.

  • what's that gonna be? I'm curious^^

  • O.o .......

  • oohhh its u batman....

  • SANTO MONSTRUO BATMAN

  • Why the hell are Batman and Robin sharing the same rope? Maybe it's time to change his name to Buttman.

  • thats why he's talking about a stiff

  • "Yes citizen, you may return to your harpsichord." If that isnt the best line in the history of visual entertainment, then I'll eat my hat.

  • The unusual situation here is that this "Batman" episode originally aired on December 7, 1966, which is after The Addams Family was canceled (it ran on ABC until Sept. '66). Also "Lurch" is seen on screen for the first time in color. The harpsichord music is great! Makes you yearn for a 3rd season (in Color of course) of "Addams".... Ted Cassidy also guest starred on an episode of The Beverly Hillbillies in the '66-67 season, and had quite a few other roles after his "Addams" career ended.

  • He also famously provided the voice of the Incredible Hulk on that old Bill Bixby TV show, where Lou Ferrigno played the Incredible Hulk, Bill played Dr Banner, and Ted Cassidy was the grunting and growling voice of the Hulk.

  • HE was also the opening narrator "Dr David Banner, physician scientist..."

  • Oh good, this btaman was too political correct and conservative.

    Thanks god for Chris Nolan.

  • Hello ! This version of B & R wasn't attempting to be politically correcty. It was, how we say the UK, "Taking the P*ss" out of prevalent vales of authority at that time.

  • i didnt know the make was do pale and sort of chalky. on the first tv show it was funny when he smiles.

  • lawlz

  • Hilarious!

  • Robin is GAY!

  • whats lurch doing in an apartment building.. did gomes fire him?:O

  • No, it must be a luxury Apartment Suite and Gomez is paying for the rent. :)

  • The Adam's family is on vacation in Gotham city. The rest of the family is inside. Lurch heard a noise and investigated! :-)

  • WHY ARE THEY ALWAYS IN WINDOWS!?!?

  • My sister always had a huge crush on Lurch! She would watch the reruns over and over again! She saved his pictures from the fan magazines too.

  • trivia:...how many guest appearences popped out of the windows on these shows?...just curious....luv this stuff

  • they must be exhausted lol...poor Lurch having to stand at such an angle.

  • I knew it was Lurch, the harpsicord playing the Addam's Family theme was a dead give away.

  • "Uhhhhh..." Great Lurch!

  • Lurch sounds rather horney....

  • Yeah, with all that moaning...lmao

  • How many guests are in that episode?

  • ahahauggghghgh its you bat man you gave me quite a scare

    =]
