I don't like the title Evolution vs Creationism. This is not an Evolution vs the Bible debate. This debate should be called, Evolution, How Did it Happen? Nobody in the world at this point has a definite answer to the question, "Where did life come from?" That question is unanswered. Even Ugenie Scott noted that she really only believes in assent with modification
(the tree of life starting at a common ancestor vs. species forming individually). Life changed over time--that's a fact--it became more complex as well. The question is, by what mechanism did life change? Was evolution Darwinian? Which really means was it driven by natural selection and random mutation or was it something else?
I believe in God but not for religious reasons. The question, does a creator exist is much different from the question is the bible correct? What about other religions? Are they all right, some right, none right? Who knows? I don't. But I believe in a creator worthy of being called God. Sometimes people don't give enough credit to the complexity of human life or any other life forms.

People don't realize that even rocks appear to have been designed on a molecular level by some kind of intelligence. @justcruzzinn When I gaze at the world...I don't see any evidence that GOD created it. The world, life and nature are truly beautiful...and it is very interesting to try and figure out how and why it came into existence. But I have to say, science is the best tool we have to answer that question - im not saying its the only tool...but it is the best. @justcruzzinn To answer your first question: Yes, I do believe lifeforms with higher intelligence than us do exist. I think given the massiveness of our own galaxy and the universe in general...its an almost statistical certainty. Put another way, to think it was all created with just *you* in mind seems absolutely rediculous. Check out the research by Kepler - its discovering new planets all the time...some of which appear to be Earthlike. You still think we're unique?

In other words...you have nothing to lose by beliving in GOD (even if it turns out to be untrue) and everything to lose if you don't believe (but it does turn out to be true). None of the billions of galaxies has been found to emit any intelligent radio signals. Scientists have been pointing every type of radio telescope possible into space for several decades in hopes of finding an intelligent signal. No signs of life beyond Earth have been found. We are alone.

Radio waves only travel at the speed of light and that takes millions years just to reach Andromeda let alone any other galaxy. Why would a bird evolve wing stubs that are useless? I believe in God but not for religious reasons. The question, does a creator exist is much different from the question is the bible correct? What about other religions? People don't realize that even rocks appear to have been designed on a molecular level by some kind of intelligence. The number of chemical reactions happening inside me as I type are so numerous that no one person could ever comprehend all of biology. Much of it is not understood at all. Also, the fossil record has no conclusive Darwinian progressions. Natural Selection preserves stasis. It does not promote or favour radical change. Darwin's theory has nothing to do with the creation of original single cellular life. When someone plonks a bunch of pre eocene fossils from the ancestors of both groups onto a table, are you going to admit that you're wrong ? No, of course not. They simply fill in the big gaps with make-believe creatures to fit the picture. This procedure can be done with humans only because there are many extinct monkey and ape species. They never do this with giraffes and elephants.

Why you choose to follow him tells me that you are either extremely sadistic, or are too scared to think of not living forever. Either way I find it pretty appalling that you believe it's justified. If evolution were true, then the process by which mankind has obtained 7,000 languages would be continuing today. Has the evolutionary process ceased?. @justcruzzinn You still don't understand evolution if you have to question in such a way. Natural selection and survival of the fittest parallels neatly with the many languages of the world. Languages progress and many die out because they may use inefficient means to communicate with others. They also can die out because the people native to it died from many reasons. Even English will die out eventually, the new replaces the old.

@justcruzzinn Simple, the best we could do for the past 96,500 years was survive and that's it. It was fight to stay alive every day. Animal attacks, starvation, natural disasters, disease, all of it deterred are advancements in technology. We also had to learn to communicate verbally with each other and that took itself took thousands of years for our vocal chords to develop. You make sound like it just popped into our heads to build things. Don't take what we achieved lightly.

I'm intelligent, educated and rational. I don't believe GOD exists based on what I know about people, psychology and culture. I believe its a man made mind virus which is spread from adult to child generation after generation after generation. According to your religion, my sole purpose is to worship GOD and accept Jesus as my Saviour. @justcruzzinn When I gaze at the world...I don't see any evidence that GOD created it. The world, life and nature are truly beautiful...and it is very interesting to try and figure out how and why it came into existence. But I have to say, science is the best tool we have to answer that question - im not saying its the only tool...but it is the best. Just because we don't *yet* know how to answers these questions doesnt mean we never will. I'll address your other points in my next reply...

@justcruzzinn To answer your first question: Yes, I do believe lifeforms with higher intelligence than us do exist. I think given the massiveness of our own galaxy and the universe in general...its an almost statistical certainty. Put another way, to think it was all created with just *you* in mind seems absolutely rediculous. Check out the research by Kepler - its discovering new planets all the time...some of which appear to be Earthlike. You still think we're unique?

In other words...you have nothing to lose by beliving in GOD (even if it turns out to be untrue) and everything to lose if you don't believe (but it does turn out to be true). Look, there are two ways you can live - you can either be a wish thinker and chose to believe in anything that makes you feel good...even if there is no supporting evidence - or you can live life by what we actually know (as provided by science). The rovers have proven that water was once abundant on the surface of Mars, but NO signs of life or any signs of past life on the planet. Mars has a proven history of flowing water on the surface and an atmosphere suitable to support life forms. The planet has had all of the conditions necessary to provide the "spark" of life, yet there is no life on Mars.

None of the billions of galaxies has been found to emit any intelligent radio signals. Scientists have been pointing every type of radio telescope possible into space for several decades in hopes of finding an intelligent signal. No signs of life beyond Earth have been found. We are alone.

Radio waves only travel at the speed of light and that takes millions years just to reach Andromeda let alone any other galaxy. It's mainly American fundamentalist Christians who seem to have a problem with evolution or indeed the age of the earth. Neither the Catholic nor the Anglican church have difficulty reconciling the fact of evolution with their belief in god.

The Theory of Evolution is based on natural selection of the most adaptable member of a species, not the weakest. A bird with a useless wing is at a severe disadvantage. This is the OPPISITE of natural selection. According to natural selection, the members of the bird species with the smallest useless wing would be the most adaptable and most likely to survive in the largest numbers. According to the theory of natural selection birds could never evolve to fly. Evolution is simply nonsense.

There are MANY flaws in the bible my friend. A big one being Noah's ark, if two of every animal (female and male) were brought onto the ark, and are thus responsible for today's animals, they should either be A. Extinct, or B. Have a single gene pool. Tassie Devils are dying off because of disease and because of a limited Gene pool. Having one gene pool creates deformities and eventually leads to extinction. That in itself is one of many flaws in the Bible. Love god, not the flaws in the bible
