The first thing I always do with a youth is to show them that the gun is unloaded,and then allow them to hold it.. After many seshions of seeing the weapon. They get to see me shoot it so they can see its power. When they are ready I begin to teach them how to properly load handle shoot and store a weapon. This takes the couriousity out of it.

This is terrible weapon for a 5yr old girl to shoot. Glocks are light weight, and as a result have high recoil. Full size .40 cal or even 9mm are too heavy for most 5yr olds.

Actually, it's a good thing to teach children about weapons early in a responsible manner. If you don't, they'll discover them when you're not around and the outcome will be much worse.

It is 100% legal in all 50 states in the USA to teach a kid how to shoot and SAFELY handle a weapon while under direct parental supervision.
Kids who are taught how to SAFELY handle a weapon are far less likely to do something stupid with it later on in life.

People that shoot up schools aren't taught that. their parents don't care or get involved in their lives. look at columbine for instance. those kids didn't have a lick of formal gun training nad their parents never tried to find out what they were up to at all hours of the night in their garages. I think we are all too cought up in politics and are missing the point.
This is terrible weapon for a 5yr old girl to shoot. Glocks are light weight, and as a result have high recoil. Full size .40 cal or even 9mm are too heavy for most 5yr olds.
I would not let my doughter shoot anything higher than a 380 :-)

Actually, it's a good thing to teach children about weapons early in a responsible manner. If you don't, they'll discover them when you're not around and the outcome will be much worse.
I don't necessarily agree with 4409's stance on everything, but I don't see a problem here. Kudos for teaching in a responsible manner.

@sprwnch i was born and raised around guns, im no hick either. brought up in suburbia connecticut, nowhere near hick. i couldnt allow someone like yourself to stand up to all the ignorant people on a public forum. i firmly believe more people need to be taught about firearms, how to handle them and firearm safety at an early age. as my father taught me, guns dont kill people, uneducated people with guns kill them.

A. The right to bear arms is for those over 21, as FEDERAL laws state.
B. Using weapons under the age of 21, with a legal guardian of 18(21 in some states) is completely legal. I've seen people age 8 come through a Gun-Range's doors.
C. Don't be a fanatical idiot, on either side. Liberal or Conservative. The desc is completely fanatical and ridiculous.

@MrMultiLol As a cop I can say that as long as they are in a place where it is legal to discharge that weapon, it is registered properly, and all laws are being followed he is doing NOTHING wrong! She can shoot with his supervision, which you can see is more than sufficient.
