One of the things that makes DCI great is that the members practice for countless hours to get to THE level. These musicians have done the same. It's just a different path!

I marched Drum & Bugle Corps for years and performed DCI many times. There's NO need to compare this to DCI. It's different!!! I really enjoyed watching. Cmon DCI people everything doesn't have to compete with DCI. Show bands are fun too. There's room for everyone. Great musicianship!!!

I wish i could work with the line at 1:51 out of all the drummers i seen they kept their drums level and technique was way better than the rest.Hell why can't people realize that uniformity is the key to a line.Until us black folk realize that our drumlines will always be criticized by DCI fans.I marched DCI Southwind 94 and i dare one of you non drumming suckers to comment after me.I would take that line and sweep the average show line and bring a real judge with me.

@Channel615 LOL, calm down playa. It is not that deep. Some of these competitions are judged by DCI players. Not all but in some cases. Also, can't we enjoy the art without bashing. I mean Opera is not for everyone but you can't say that a R&B or Country singer can't sing just because it is a different style. Enjoy it for what it is, entertainment. No need in bashing one for the other because neither is going anywhere or cares what the other thinks about it. Enjoy

And for your answer there are no judges from DCI judging this if so the outcome would be different

@Gentleman1911 Your not even getting what i'm saying so i'm gonna push on the drumline in black at 1:51 was actually playing notes but they didnt win so i believe that is what hurts us black folks that have drumlines or bands .We give more credit to the BOOM BOOM CAT instead of the kids who are actually playing the notes go to the time frame 1:51 and if your a real drummer then tell me if you here a split roll being executed.Just like the movie Drumline Morris Brown was playing Flam Taps

@Channel615 No there were not DCI judges for this event I was saying they have been used at some other drumline events similar to this.

I understand what you are saying about child in school situation but unless you are doing private lessons for your child, that is just the style they have to work with. These kids can play, they just not presenting it how you like it. I don't think Eddie Murphy mom wanted her child out there cursing on stage but right now she is laughing at the bank. LOL

I understand what you are saying and where you are coming from but if your going into a competition that is judged not just on the playing abilities then you have to deal with it. Highland Springs is a excellent drumline no doubt but Warren County has some excellent players as well and can put on a show , but at a DCI event they would get no love. That's just the way it is. But I respect your opinion on it

Hmmmmm i marched DCI for 3 years and i have to say i love Corp style but what i don't like about show style is that they judge wrong.That line at 1:51 should have one with that one lick alone.Just like the movie Drum Line Morris Brown clear as day won that drum off.Like i said before get better judges that know how to drum themselves and Show style would step up their game.
