Thanks for approving my video response (I advertise your modernbluesharmonica site at the end, letting people know that's where they can buy the tabs/instructional video).
One of the things I took away from Hill Country Harmonica was deciding to buy a mic (I bought the Electro-Voice 635A after Billy Branch mentioned that its skinniness makes it easier to use your hands to get the wah) and learn how to play amplified harp—this was my first attempt and I'm not *at all* comfortable with it yet!
Way to go with this. Reminds me of my college days at the University of Missouri, Ol' Mizzou. Our marching band had a killer arrangement of this called the Saint Louis Blues March. Bet you would love it. And, while I'm writing, I'm wondering if you have an arrangement of Blues in the Night. That is one of my very favorites. Oh, and did I mention that I love your channel. Just Great Stuff.
Man, nice playing Adam :) A nice song that I can study on my harmonica.. it has that really nice feeling in it or something.. can't really explain it but anyway, thanks for your lessons!! better start trying this one now...
Right you are. I'm sure I stole the basic outlines from him, since I've loved that cut for a long time. But yes: he tosses in the whole thing, including the bridge.
Great Job Adam, the only other time I've heard this song done on Harp was by Charlie McCoy. Anyhow you sounded great and thanks for all you've done with your Harp lessons.
I just purchased the video and pdf. Is there an alternative to using the overblows...i havent quite got them down...i can occasionlly play it, but not as far as integrating them into my playing...well i havent watched the Video so maybe it is mentined there
are Marine Bands hamronicas good..because my dad past away so i took his fathers hormonica and its a Marine Band made by M.Hohner limited edition 1896-1996
Hey Adam, again a superb job, i like your kind of playing so much, you made me begin playing the harp with your lessons and your play. I´d always loved to learn it, and with you, teaching so well, i hope i´d be one day as good as you.
I manage to extract overblows from off-the-shelf Hohner Marine Bands, but they're certainly not optimal. Seydel 1847 are better for that. Brad Harrison, Chris Michalek, and Jason Ricci all make terrific custom harps.
I manage to blow out off the shelf Hohner Marine Bands too easily. My hat is off to you for being able to make a Marine Band sing so nice...Seydel 1847's are WORTH the price they demand. I have a Turbo Harp BX Custom LOW D that OB's as easily as a hot knife cuts butter and it only cost 41 bucks.
Thanks Adam, superb rendition of St Louis Blues. I'm trying to learn overblows, but I can only seem to get them at the high end. I'm using Lee Oskar harmonicas and I read that they're not very good for overblowing - what make and key of harp would you recommend for learning overblows?
It´s perhaps impolite to point out, but shouldn´t there be an OB in the 1st octave (hole1, 2nd bar)? Can´t say I blame you for dodging it, but still ... Anyway, nicely done.
Ah, my friend, you've got good ears. Yes, and I'm actually able to make that note as a passing tone, so I could have done it. I tend to finesse it (leave it out).
Just one word: Beautiful: Thank you Adam for sharing your talent with your fans/students so unselfishly. Hope you get to do a show in the Hudson Valley.
Please get the Tab and Video lesson out soon. I am trying to learn this song by playing along to your video, getting close but I am missing some things. I also need to stimulate the economy by buying your lesson.
Adam please stop! I need a rest! Learning to play "the Entertainement" in 1st position, listening your CD and learning "Sanctified Blues", watching Rick Estrin's DVD and trying to get his groove...makes me blowing the entire day and night! Anyway, nice tune! I will have a look later! Thank you!
Cool stuff I am really trying to learn overblows but to achieve them the harps do need a tinker, Could you do a lesson or vid on the simple vamp stuff on harp from the song Cold Blooded Women by John mayall and Walter trout?
For some reason you're tone sounds especially good in this video- every time I start loosing my faith in marine bands I see one of your videos and think "marine bands are awesome".
I agree with you about Marine Bands. I'm sure I can find custom harps that are quite a bit easier to play, especially overblows, but I'm not sure I'd gain much tone.
Insanely awsome this guy! How can four do not like this?

I just realized that Big Walter Horton's "Rockin' My Boogie" is a take off on the St. Louis Blues.
Unbelievable. I never figured this out myself.

Golden Melody by Hohner are easiest to set up. Holes 4, 5 and 6 and 1 with practice.

I am going to mark it on my calendar right now. Please Adam, will you be performing St. Louis Blues at the Turning Point Gig?
Also, what do you think of Golden Melodies?
I have gotten so accustomed to them as I am trying to master Overblows
