  • why was this fake band inducted before the monkees were

  • Age is so merciless!

  • oh my god ! THE BEE GEES!!

  • That's pure and solid hard rock, who said that ABBA is only a pop group ?

  • a björn hafja nagyon jo .meg érdemelték a rock and roll dijat éljan az ABBA.

  • nagyon jo

  • The photo at 0:15 is priceless.

  • frida looked absolutely beautiful at the induction [as i watched it march 15 on fuse.] her speech was very nice too. but am i the only one who got nothing out of benny's speech? and i [against hope] knew that agnetha would not fly to new york for this...but bjorn??? i read on billboard that he had a big family thing, as they put it. what a snub, this is one of the greatest honors any musician can ever get....and he does'nt show up. a shame.

  • Yes I thought Frida's speech was very good too and put a copy of it in the video description. However youtube have since stupidly moved the description to beneath the video, so its no longer apparent Frida's nice speech is there. I was thinking of doing a similar video for Benny's speech, but it hardly seems worth it if it can't easily be seen after all these stupid unwanted changes youtube have made. I'm thinking of sending King Kong to sort them out!

  • Oh John, I knew that you would´t let me down and post this pictures! Thank you!

  • Thanks Stefanie - yes I was ready to pounce when these super induction pics appeared and then made a quick trip to Skull Island to sign up King Kong to join in the fun!

  • great event!!!

  • Yes it certainly was Gal, and they both gave very good speeches! There's no doubt that they've had an impact on rock and roll with great songs like this one!

  • Great event!!!!

  • Thanks For The Pictures John

  • Cheers Bruno - along with Benny and Frida in the last picture! Not sure if I got all the pics completely in the right order as it was difficult to tell, but its near enough! Meryl Streep is at 2:04 and you know the Bee Gees - they're looking pretty good too!

  • "King Kong Song" is one of my oldest favorite ABBA songs.

    To Everybody:

Yes, that's pure and solid Rock and Roll !!!!!

  • Cheers Cesar - that's one of the main reasons why I did this video for their induction - so that I could also give King Kong an outing in this great stomping song!

  • Wow.. thanks for sharing!!! I love it :)

  • Cheers Marielle - yes this looks a great night with everyone very happy to see Abba receive this overdue honour. Some nice acceptance speeches were made by Frida and Benny. Fortunately King Kong did not turn up!

  • I like Benny but I melt for Frida <3 so nice to see them happy toghether, and LOVE Frida's leather jacket! :) cool vid, John

  • Thanks Dorie yes its just like old times with just the 2 of them present and great to see them both looking so good! They both gave very good speeches to accept the induction honour. I've copied Frida's speech in the description for viewers to read in their own time, and will add Benny's speech when its also available in words!

  • congrats! but they count your own comments?

  • Thanks Dorie - No they only count comments from others, or it would be chaos like King Kong caused!

  • Long over due. finaly one of the greatest groups ever get their reward. Fan my whole life

  • Yes that right the honours are coming to reward all those wonderful songs they did which still sound great today - just like this one!

  • Yes they're as good as anybody and their music is so unique, its an amazing achievement for a group from Sweden!

  • What a moving speech by Frida. She and Benny looked so dignified. V happy for ABBA!

  • Yes it was so good that I decided to place it here for people to read in their own time. As always their humility is very impressive and it was particularly good for Frida to emphasise the debt they owe to Stig for getting them going. Hope to add Benny's speech when its available in words!

  • Yes its a very good speech by Frida and a very well deserved award for Abba! Its a nuisance that youtube have moved it to beneath the video after their recent unwanted changes where its no longer easily visible. I'm still hoping to do another video for Benny's speech, but had to have a break after all those stupid changes they made to the video comments layout!

  • @abbafanglosuk Yes, I find the youtube changes rather annoying too. Like you said, send King Kong to sort it out! I'll loan you Godzilla! :)

  • Thanks I'll send him in too as its got worse because messages and comments in the in-box now disappear when you click on them! There was no need to change anything at all. It was fine as it was, with everyone used to the layout and features.

  • Howdy John, I thought Benny and Frida made wonderful speeches that projected the spirit of ABBA. Frida's smile is still as radiant as it always was. What a feel good moment for all ABBA fans. Thanks Lenny

  • Thanks Lenny - I agree they were both great speeches and typical of their humility in their playing days! I felt I should record them here for viewers to read slowly in their own time. I've managed to get Frida's speech so far and it was particularly moving that she acknowledged how much they owed to the 5th member of the group Stig - which I have to agree with it! I'm still waiting for Benny's speech to appear, and will fit it in somewhere depending on the length - cheers from John!

  • Nice show, John, they finally got in. Most people were saying ABBA was pop not rock. Really? Then why was Madonna inducted and she's using ABBA's Gimme Gimme track in her hit "Hung Up"? Anyway, I'm glad it finally happened. It just took too long. Thanks for putting this show together, enjoyed it.

  • Thanks Rob - yep they're there and shut the door behind them after this fine induction by The Bee Gees with some nice speeches acknowleding their impact. Anyone who's looked at their music will know they cover a whole range of styles and can do anything they want to. But there was a period around "Waterloo" where they definitely saw themselves as a glam-rock group! As for Madonna, you would struggle to find anything from her as rocking as this song is and clearly she's been inspired by them!

  • Thanks Jim, yes that's right it was a great night for all Abba fans to see them granted their place in history amongst the rockers! And a performance of this stompin' rock song by Benny and Faith would have brought the house down - just like King Kong did!

  • Thanks for posting! one question - Is that Meryl Streep at 2:04?

  • Well spotted Anna, yes that's Meryl Streep in the audience giving them her support - and she would be very glad she didn't have to sing this song in Mamma Mia!

  • @abbafanglosuk I bet! Thanks again for posting this!

  • it that not supoose to be 15-03-01?.. not 15-03-10 lol

  • Their first song was released in November 1972 and their first song as Abba in March 1974 making them eligible for induction by 2000 at the latest - so that's a reasonable point!

  • Thank you very very much for these wonderful pics - I love it!!!

    Marc

  • Thanks Marc - yes its almost like old times between Benny and Frida! Its great that they've finally received this overdue recognition from their peers, confirming their everlasting contribution to rock music with great songs like this one!

  • oh , & faved brilliant, thanks for uploading this john, @nn "★ƹӝʒ _ღƹӝʒღ_ ƹӝʒ ★★ƹӝʒ _ღƹӝʒღ_ ƹӝʒ ★★ƹӝʒ _ღƹӝʒღ_ ƹӝʒ ★★ ღ♫"

  • Thanks Ann, this song would certainly have livened the event up - especially if they all did a dance for it! Have a great weekend too, we've got the Gold Cup here today!

  • wow. incredible, and fantastic video john.

nice to see benny and frida, which is still alive.

and, of course, ABBA is still alive. lol

by the day, is there a video on this event? i just want to see them.

  • Thanks Carl - its a good job King Kong isn't still alive or there would be chaos! The event was too long for a single video, but there are videos of the speeches and song in "sannasonja" channel and backstage interview and Swedish tv report in "Sinny1992" channel - all worth watching!

  • Excellent John-seems to be very low key on the video front for the RRHOF induction-but this is great!

  • Thanks Bill, yes thats what I thought - I'm a bit surprised to be the first to put out a slide show of the event 3 days after it happened! Mind you it was quite difficult to find out what was happening on the night with Fuse tv having broadcast control! It was mainly the fact that I could get down Frida's hearwarming speech for everyone to read and an excuse to take King Kong for walkies in this fantastic song that persuaded me to do it - lets hope he doesn't climb the Waldorf Astoria as well!

  • @abbafanglosuk amazing loved this john 5.******** have a fab weekend my friend, @nn "★ƹӝʒ _ღƹӝʒღ_ ƹӝʒ ★★ƹӝʒ _ღƹӝʒღ_ ƹӝʒ ★★ƹӝʒ _ღƹӝʒღ_ ƹӝʒ ★★ ღ♫
