@JanisJoplin70sGirl Yeah I was 18 in 1989 and I recall noticing in the years that followed music began going downhill. I hardly bought any new albums from the 90s onwards. Most of my CD collection is 60s, 70s and 80s, a lot of it being from artists where I'd only heard one or two of their tracks but went on to collect everything they'd recorded. And yes, nowadays music is utter shit, apart from the occasional listenable track. And don't get me started on autotune :)

i saw him at wembly stadium when i was 14 in live aid 1985. he sang this song and he was awsome. all my twin sister kept on screaming the whole time he was on stage was "NIK I LOVE YOU YOUR SOOO GORGEOUS!!!" it was sooo annoying but as a 38 year old now i can look back and laugh at it awww memories :)

I know, the man is a bit of a pop genius. His chord progressions/modulations are seriously tough going but he managed to make it palatable for mainstream ears. Can't believe he's so underrated. I have so much respect for this guy...except trying to cover his songs in a soprano voice is a challenge, transposing all those intricate arrangements and all...I love how the rock guitars thrash away in the background to a pure pop tune too. Not to mention the killer eyebrows!
