Well, his backing band varied over time. Around this time ( and in this video ) , it was usually the band Quasi--the duo of Janet Weiss and Sam Coomes. Sam and Janet were married at one point, and Elliott actually recorded "No Confidence Man" at their home studio as part of a split with Pete Krebs way back when. Elliott was great friends with them up until his death. Usually they'd open, then reconfigure to play as his backing band at that point in time.
Elliott's earlier on-again-off-again girlfriend, Joanna Bolme, played in a few bands ( most recently with Stephen Malkmus), but not on any of his songs or anything and his later girlfriend, Jennifer Chiba, played in another band, but not on any of his songs either.
Definitely one of Elliott's better performances, i like seeing him looking good and he sounds great plus i dont think ive seen him play that before. Rock on Elliott! rip brother!
This guy was fantastic. And for all the stuff he says about himself being ugly he wasn't. He looks great here. I think the substance abuse took its toll on him at times.
