I'm not sure if this has been suggested already but from one high jumper to another you may want to adjust the distance of the Hurdles in relavance to the height your trying to clear. Your explosion is awesome but you need time to travel over the bar in addition to adding a little more explosion of the the ground that will push you forward in addition to upward. God bless and much success to you...
I've been lookiing for this video so that i could remember the drill...My coach has me do a similar box hurdle drill with a 30 inch box and then over three hurdles at 42" 45" 49".....but i will REALLY try and make a video trying this drill on Saturday since i wont have practice...I'm suppose to be jumping this friday.....I've been really busy BRO and couldnt find this video......
i placed first but there were only like 7 guys doing it in my devision cuz it was just a practice meet. i got district qualifiers this sat and i have major shin splints so we'll see how i do
yes, i have a q angle which is similar to many female basketball players, i work hard on eliminating it, but it just seems to be ingrained into my system
also, in my case, the only issue that would possibly exist would be that of the meniscus, because it is the only tissue in the knee area which has tissue too hypoxic to regenerate. If a knee or tendon or joint capsule problem was going to happen, it would have happened already. Of course not everyone is built for this....
i forgot, i saw your other videos and i remeber seeing you bouncing on asphalt (or concret), that´s gonna blow your knees pretty fast, try to do that kind of training on grass or another soft surface
btw, i read your blog and found it pretty interesting
It is a soft track surface actually, and I was asking for a journal reference that shows that injury will occur when doing plyos on harder surfaces. I think the biggest issue that this type of training brings about is a potential stress fracture of the tibia...I have done this drill (strand drill) on a basketball court surface before. I actually have been doing plyos on asphalt for 10 years now and haven't had a knee problem yet....
i thought it was a hard surface, like a handball court
good for you with your knees, i know a lot of people suffering from training on hard surfaces (that includes me), i am also a jumper and i´ve got shin splints, torn meniscus and jumpers knee, all from jumping on a shitty track
as you said in your post, not everybody has the same build (nor the right cushioned shoes)
did you make gains with your plyos?

I don't see how this would work but only build more acid in your legs....
Since clearly high jump you are only allowed to take off of one foot.
Your running approach will give you height and the power to carry you over

Well with the amount of knee valgus you have during some of your landings I would worry about more than just your meniscus. Just my 2 cents.
