  • You must have some weird-ass definition of life if you think it begins instantaneously at birth. But uh, at which moment in birth do you call the baby alive? Does it have to be all the way out? Or just as far as their head?

  • I don't know if this site should be trusted at all but it says the Lincoln quote rick refered to. ht tps: // w w w. brainy quote .com/ quotes /quotes /a / abraham lin 121 271 .html

  • and that is why the fundi movement trashes the enviromental movement saying its the cult of satian because its of this world they are giveing the middle finger to future generations of people saying fuck you they are thinking its a religion where as we are trying to save our selves in real life instead of beliveing in fariy tails great job

  • I've read tons of Wicca books and none of them bash any other religion. Goddess I love being a witch!

  • Rick Warren has resorted to schoolyard politics [aka bullying] to convince people they're not worthy and thus have to be enslaved by his doctrines...I, on the other hand, reject such bullying tactics. Good on you, Angie, for taking Warren's crap down!

  • brainy quotes dot com of abraham, but no date??

  • @AngieAntiTheist Have you seen the geico commercial with Abe trying to tell his wife her dress makes her bottom look big without being mean?

  • If you put that quote in text it would help e to look for it.

  • *Sarcastically* Oh Yeah I'm feeling totally fullfuilled.

  • Did you mean the Mikado's song, to let the punishment fit the crime? And make each prisioner pent, unwillingly represent, a source of innocent merriment, of innocent merriment.

Which then brings to mind a childish giggling god, laughing over our misery like a child with a magnifying glass and an ants nest.

  • @TheBoyFromNorfolk Yup! Hello fellow Gilbert & Sullivan fan :) Pirates of Penzance is my favorite, of course.

  • So in the last chapter he says Christians can do what they like and then ask for forgiveness, but according to this one atheists can do as they please because they don't believe in heaven. This guy doesn't seem to have much faith in people being good because, well, they just are.

  • Brains and beauty, you are living proof of an "intelligent design" of evolution

  • My new found Atheism makes me want to go back to my old catholic middle school and punch every teacher who taught me that God was some thing to believe in and I really am so glad that i'm 13 years old and didn't spend my entire adolescent life trying to "devote my life to christ" Thanks Angie you've been wonderful have great godless day.

  • @822CMooreful Your comment makes me smile! My boyfriend also lost his faith at a young age & said to tell you "Way to go!"

  • @AngieAntiTheist YAY! Boyfriend of Angie(srry dont know your name) We're awesome! I just wish I knew how to tell the rents

  • @822CMooreful He wants me to invite you to send him a private message if you wanna talk. His YouTube name is @DauntlessNullifidian

  • @AngieAntiTheist Everyone (my parents and family, that is) tells me that I'm too young to be an atheist. I'm 13 too.

  • @bookcreator Funny how the same people don't think you're too young to be a Christian/Mormon/Muslim/Buddhist. It's your brain and your beliefs. Don't let anybody else dictate them to you (including strange girls on the internet named Angie.)

  • @AngieAntiTheist True. I guess once I started thinking about my beliefs, I found that I couldn't believe them. They conflict too much with my values and with fact. Thank you for all your videos by the way; they're a breath of fresh air for me.

  • Awesome demonic God voice, Angie!

  • Regarding the whole Abe Lincoln thing...

The explanation is easy... God arranged a meeting with Lincoln for Ricky and that's where he said that.

  • Comment removed

  • Great points as always,Angie, but only one problem:the Bible clearly states that God IS a douche, that He delights in murder and blood, and has no concern w/human rights(raped girls forced to marry their rapists, death penalty for working on the Sabbath, not obeying one's parents, apostasy, yeah).Your line of reasoning might work w/those Christians who are beginning to question the validity of the Bible, but those who are not open to logic(hardcore believers)will fear damnation by just listening to you

  • @elzakrasz True, but the really hardcore believers fear damnation listening to Rick Warren. ;p

  • That's because Rick Warren misquoted Lincoln, cause apparently fact checking isn't covered under his bumper sticker 'WWJD.'

"Surely God would not have created such a being as man, with an ability to grasp the infinite, to exist only for a day! No, no, man was made for immortality." is the actual quote.

It was on the Heritage Academy of Arizona.

  • @Captainclusterfuck It was also featured on the Hall of President's speech in Disney World from 1971 - 1993.

  • Ugh. I was given this book years ago by my Mom-not-In-Law. I couldn't ever bring myself to read past the first page, for fear that my disgust would produce a violent physical reaction such as you had. I would love to see you in a happy video, though. ; P

Oh yeah... thanks for helping my synapses to make more connections through critical thinking & learning.

  • damn, check out this mutants nose when she gives a profile....holy shit....is that a big nose or what LOL - maybe I do believe in plastic surgery, poor girl, can you imagine the size of a handkerchief it would take for this honker? its called a bed sheet ...hee hee

  • Bats are not only birds, but ABOMINATIONS!!

  • "Pinged my bullshit radar" ....lolz

  • @skywize As Abraham Lincoln once said,... "what the hell?"....what? I'm sure he said it at one point!

  • I have never hear a book say so much and so little... XD

  • It astounds me how religious people maintain the denial. They go to such lengths to aspire to eternal life. Have they really thought this through? Eternity is a very long time, and then some, and some more .........

  • If my "soul" was made, then how could it be eternal? Because if it was made, and is eternal, then if God is eternal, God could be made; yet being eternal is the standard reason most theists say God wasn't made.

  • @DarkMatter2525 That's a really excellent point. I stopped beleiving in an immortal soul a couople of years before I beame an atheist. Neurology books FTW! :)

  • i don't know how you're going to make it through the 40 chapters... But i salute you for your courage and patience to soo much bullshit.

  • Abe is assumed by most scholars with an opinion as being a very possible atheist.

Given thetimeline he lived in its not suprising that he neverreally gave any conclusive answe rther than a quote of him saying "The Bible is not my book, nor Christianity my profession."

The funny thing is that quote could easily be taken to mean that the human species is greater by so much that we are destined to survive and dominate this planet forever.

    Wishful thinking but its possible.

    Isn't knowledge great

  • Im so glad Im free of fucktards and their dumbass religions. I never fit in since birth anyway.

Now, whenever Im within an area of a theist preaching I get chills running down my spine, and a certain anger growing inside me. I have theist freinds, but most of my freinds are intelligent, open minded atheists. People with healthy brains.

  • Keep 'em coming Angie!

  • More colorful language every day. Can't say that I blame you.

  • What a great series!!!

  • I googled the start of your quote:

    surely god would not have

    and got Lincoln hits immediately!

(even without quotes, with double quotes one gets more specific hits).

  • If I truly believed that death is the end of everything, I would conclude that sentience is a disease - transmitted through sex/birth, and curable only through death.

I need threats of hellfire to believe that it's wrong to cut off the arms and legs of someone who is intent on harming/killing me and my loved ones.

  • Lincoln was so totalitarian.

  • I don't know if I'm becoming more educated by you, or loosing brain cells because of Rick Warren

  • Sort of of topic, and maybe you don't really care because they're just words but... are your kids like right next to you while you're droppin all kinds of F bombs ?

    Just askin >_>

  • I always tell people who ask me if I have no god how to I tell right from wrong?

I tell them I have a moral compass, and I, myself keep it in check and live happily without somebody telling me to.

Also, you should include your son in more videos, he seems to enjoy the attention. =)

  • Your talk on xtian death-worship reminds me of how Pascal's wager only makes sense if you hold to the premise that since one is not immortal, one's life and autonomy has little to no value other than that of a poker chip: a cheap, thin piece of plastic to be used on some cosmic roulette table.

The way I see it, there most likely is no God/Heaven so we need to be moral and see justice done here on earth, cuz things aren't gonna magically get squared after we die.

  • Whether or not he said it makes zero difference. Obviously Lincoln was delusional to that extent.

  • Where does the bible say bats are birds?

  • @vssia simple google search and i found this. "Lev. 11:13, 19 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls...And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. (See also Deut. 14:11, 18)" basically the bible associates bats as birds since fowls are birds.

  • @vssia Leviticus 11 is where it says bats are birds :) Apparently rabbits also "chew the cud" (but only in the Bible, not in real life.)

  • @vssia Leviticus 11:13-19 Your Bible sucks.

  • @CosmicStargoat Are you implying I'm a christian?

  • pure crappo.

  • Christian Zombies, the living dead since they can't wait to die.

  • "The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma." Joseph Lewis quoting Lincoln in a 1924 speech in New York

  • i like this series lady

  • The quote is ubiquitous and universally attributed to Lincoln. However, according to the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, "The authoritative reference work of Lincoln's letters and speeches is the Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln." This multi-volume reference is available for search online. "immortality" appears in it twice. Neither are the quote in question. If I were more curious, I'd drop a line to Doris Kearns Goodwin.

  • I think I heard that quote in an old civil war movie and it was general lee who said it not Lincoln. Remember the south was the side that was crazy religious that even general lee said the only reason he fought for the south is cause God told him to.

  • It may not have been made up by Warren, but by David Barton. Barton was actively engaged in all sorts of fake founder quotes.

  • Russel, Lincoln, and several Bible quotes have been fabricated so far. I think that Warren really does not understand how quoting works. I mean that he literally does not comprehend the purpose of quotation and that the words must be the exact words that were written or spoken by the individual in order to call it a quote. He actually thinks that his interpolation or even complete fabrication can be used as a quote. I say this because I have seen fundies fabricate quotes before and I've called

  • (cont.) them on it. They will say something like; "well, that's what he meant," or "close enough," or "it doesn't matter, the point is..." They really don't get it. I think it is a result of such a profound arrogance and self-importance that if they decide for themselves what other people have said. So, Rick Warren said, "Hi, I'm Rick Warren and I'm a fucktard." How do you like it Rick?

  • The more you read Rick Warren the less I like him. The psychologist Charlotte Kasl talks about necrophilia in a male-dominated, authoritarian, religious construct. Applies nicely to this shit. Note how death has great value, life has none. Death is glorious and eternal -- life's only purpose is to get us all turned on to death. Yes, I believe they are necrophiliacs, in that, these sick twisted mother-fuckers get turned on by death and they are repulsed by life.

  • If our time on Earth is all there was, we wouldn't have to be ethical or worry about consequences?! WTF!!!??

If this is all we have something as minor as, say, people hating you, or going to prison for a few years, will affect you for YOUR ENTIRE EXISTENCE. The only difference is that's a lot shorter time than Rick Warren thinks it is. But, whatever the length, as far as the individual is concerned, it is THE REST OF YOUR EXISTENCE! Such warped thinking. This popular book is CRAZY.

  • Ouch, Angie, time to brush up your google skills! You owe rick an apology! I found this quote on my very first search, and then refined the search to show only results from before the end of 2002 when I believe that the Porpoise Diving Life came out - 19 results. Here is the results page. cont..

  • Dam, can't paste it in this box, I'll PM you.

  • Of course, this doesn't mean that this is really an Abe quote, just that if it isn't, Sick Moron didn't make it up.

  • @wearealltubes paste works ok for me - you may need to click on the box or refresh the page. Youtube has no programming skills and what little they had is getting worse.

  • @wearealltubes Someone else caught it. IDK what was up. But I've added the annotation now.

  • @AngieAntiTheist So I don't get the coveted inter-nerd pedant prize? Sigh, back to the day job.

  • @AngieAntiTheist i missed that annotation, please consider extend it to the part where you say "i'll add the annotation at this part of the video"

  • No consequences for our actions? What the hell is Jail or the death penalty,or even the loss of good relationships? Jail is Full of consequences and christian's...that's where the bibles "last minute-get out of death clause" is most popular...with criminals.

  • @Thereminator101 Yes, the idea that we have "no consequences" just b/c we don't have post-mortum ones is .... weird. There's always getting fired, locked up, committed to the loony bin, or dumped. I mean, those are consequences that aren't dependent on a soul or afterlife and RW *must* know that. He's just a liar for Jesus (and the power.)

  • @AngieAntiTheist on the other hand, christians can do anything they want as long as they confess... talk about a punishment !! If I beat someone in the face, then say I'm atheist & I regret, I go to hell, but if I say I don't have to regret anything because what happened was god's will, I go to heaven... Nice sense of morality, folks !!

  • @Thereminator101

Problem is, however, that not all criminals get caught and some reciprients of the death penalty are innocent. And please don't give me the "Well, the world's not perfect" line.

  • Nice review have you ever read The Flouride Deception

  • @JoJoQwenty No, I haven't. I'm guessing it's a skeptic issue, rather than a theology one? :)

  • @JoJoQwenty Actually its about the untold history of this chemical they put in drinking water toothpaste and even pesticides.

  • The way this book is going, you may want to start drinking as you read it. i can't believe this ever sold one copy. Then again...

  • This book is getting ridiculous as a midly religious Wiccan I can't come close to comprehending the sheer...stupidity and ego of Rick Warren. I get the point of religion but it's when you take it too far, like how Rick Warren does, is when people shy away and become totally turned off at it. Jeez, people make me wanna puke.

Thanks for doing this and keep going!

p.s. Christians, I'm awear I'm going to hell for being a Wiccan, too bad I don;t believe in it.

  • To deliberately misquote Ecclesiastes 12:12,

"Of the making of many purpose-driven books, there is no end"

  • Are you familiar with The Venus Project? I would love someone with your religious experteese to evaluate the religious portion of The Zeitgeist Movie. Check that stuff out Angie, please.

  • @longslidenyc I've only watched part of Zeitgeist (enough to make not wanna continue, lol) but Matt Dillahunty has already written a through debunking of some of the movie's stupider claims. Interestingly enough, Acharya S follows me on a few social networks.

  • @AngieAntiTheist I recomend watching the entire thing. Everyone. Everywhere. Question all paradigms for yourself.
