I watched this movie all the time when I was a kid. I would always turn it off when it got to this part (unless I fell asleep) because it scared me so bad.
Holy Bejeezus. That thing is scary enough that noone even cares about them blank Harpy Tits in a disney movie.
Looking back i should have been far more terrified. Maybe i just couldn´t fully comprehend the full scope of hellish pictures there... and the whispy floating skeletons, sheesh! I am 28 years old, but this stuff freaks me out.

Disney just showed us an example of what HELL is like and what goes on there 24/7. Which is non-stop torture and torment from SATAN to those who reject the Lord and savior Jesus Christ, and for those who have excepted Jesus but is still living of the world. God Bless you all!
Oh. Who cares whether he was racist or not. Political correctness is worse. I wish Song of the South would come out. I may need to get a pirated copy because Disney deems it as politically incorrect.
Well, it seems (but there is no evidence of it) that Disney was antisemitic, but I don't think that Chernabog has anything to do with it. Or at least I hope so! In the end, he chose a myth from the Slavic paganism, which can mean that it wasn't a racist choice. But, again, there's no proof or evidence about this fact.
Bill Tytla was the natural choice to be the directing animator for Chernabog. He had a neat way of drawing very powerful characters like Chernabog and Stramboli in Pinocchio. At the same time, he could make very warm and touching scenes like when Dumbo goes to visit his mom while she's stuck in her cell.
It was a shame to hear that he had left Disney in the late 1940's... I for one, don't know why.
He was anti semtic but he was well beyond his time. This movie is a master work.. But few saw it then. 1940. But now with the age of computers it comes to life again.... wonderful...
Disney was anti-semtic, however he was a man before his times. This movie was a mater work but few saw it. It has gained new lovers the last few years..
Disney needs to dump HSM and Hannah Montana and realize that stuff like this is what made them great. I guess that there is hope, nowadays, with the return of 2D animation this Winter. The makers of the Princess and the Frog say that this movie will look like the good old days, barely touched by computers at all. Thank God.
you know how with the new Disney movies they try to make it funny, well I hope the makers of the Princess and the Frog won't do anything like that and take the story seriously

What people who watch this need to be asking is why in a kids animation there is so many naked women, all the demon birds are topless women u can see most clearly on 5:00 and the red/pink fire is all animated naked women.. 4:36 - 38.. why would this be allowed..? check out "the arrivals" on youtube particularly pt.3 to find out.
@Crewwstube Why is this the "opposite of what Disney is?" I loved this as a kid. Scary doesn't equal evil or bad. It's perfectly healthy and wholesome to have a dark Halloween type piece like this for kids. It brought new life and awareness to a classical piece of music, which was the point of Fantasia.
Maurice Ravel arranged Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, originally written for piano. Night on Bald Mountain was written as an orchestral piece, and was revised over a period of a couple of years in the 1880s by composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
yeah dito on that child hood remberance thing there. i too shat myself numerouse amounts of time. im prety sure our casset of the movie is broken after the re-winds, just to watch so many times.
Some reason, it sounds scarier in this pitch... 0_0

This is a perfect example of how Disney can produce great work. Almost all of the original Disney works are good. Nowadays... Well, now they suck.
