Again, this track just simply stands out owing to many things, but to me, mainly due to the mixing. I have always been into ambient stuff and I use Reason rewired into Cubase, and I've been doing this for almost three years, yet I have NO clue how to even remotely get it this nice. Simply creative, this!

Are you using a keyboard for the opening strings? I can normally pick up on the usually "synthy" quality of keyboard strings, but those sound pretty real.

the opening strings were a patch on the roland jv1080 expansion board, but they are actually strings from the Melotron, an early tape based sampler. The sound was recorded from a live string section onto a tape loop, and when you press the keyboard, the loop plays. You can hear the melotron flute at the start of 'Strawberry fields forever'.
