  • A harmless bystander at the fence filming an off the shelf Cessna taking off.....and 150.000+ views? Far out, the world was a more sane place before the internet..lol

  • @MrMazz1970

How about a few feet from the taxiway while standing on the ramp...

  • Why last flight?

  • @imaudie43

    Didn't need/want to fly anymore

  • Did he have a last landing too? You just HAVE to post that video too.

  • REALLY DUMB TITLE!!!

  • RIP ken

  • Bye Ken!

  • Did Ken come back? Or did he die?

  • @sinfuldavy0 He is fine. After he landed, he sold the plane and lives in the Lower 48 somewheres.

  • its a 182 dorks not a 172

  • Comment removed

  • @olivasf123 Dorks? Since you're unable to visually identify a C172 from a C182, and don't take others' word for it, go to the 0:35 mark of the video. Increase size to full screen. Do a simple tail number search (assuming your blatant lack of aviation knowledge is even aware of what a N number is). That, my friend, is a bona fide 1963 Cessna 172D.

  • @olivasf123

You mean a 172... Believe me, I know the difference...

  • goes like a home sick angel

  • Damn, that's a hellofa climb out!

  • 0:28 McDonalds :S

  • POWER!

  • very misleading title

  • @applerent what? were you hoping to see a crash?

  • boring.

  • @Chillermg91 you obviously don't know shit about flying. Troll

  • last flight my ass cheek

  • @AjE123s By reading the description, it technically was his last take-off. If you want to see planes crash, go buy a flight simulator you smartass.

  • i guess this is in usa when u have a mcdonalds next door to mcdonalds lmao

  • @donnchadh5 the take off in this video is at Merrill Field here in Anchorage, Alaska.

  • @donnchadh5 hahaha!

  • Those bastards...they killed kenny!

  • What´s the story behind this poor video clip?

Wind noise and a prop rotating at about 2400?

    Very "funny" ...

    Buddy B.

  • damn, if I close my eyes and only listen to the sound of that plane my first thought is SUMMER... mmm love it!

  • Plane looks like a C182 with a Robertson STOL kit.

  • That's actually a 172D.

  • @KSA5223 - most of that noise came from the prop tips going supersonic.

  • A Franklin 220 makes maximum horsepower at 2800RPM.

The maximum prop diameter would be with a 2 bladed, the proper size for that engine is an 80inch diameter.

And 80 inch prop at 2800 RPM is only 660MPH tip speed. 100MPH less than sonic on the ground.

People say that about Franklins, but it seems pretty unlikely.

  • Aha! But the air going around the tip of the prop is supersonic, but just barely (actually, the governor is setup to be at this point on this particular aircraft)

  • 220 hp in a 172???

never heard of such a thing

  • Yep. There is a Turbo Charged version as well, with even more HP. Not common by any means, but badass.

  • @Skligmund there is no stc for a 220 turbo I had the stc for the 220hp franklin you can check it out stc owned by col. river marine. in portland

  • @Skligmund pointless with tiny fuel tanks.

  • @Skligmund turbos are aftermarket for 172's, and are available on 182's from the factory.

  • those lycoming engines sound like a wet fart

  • Where as the one in this airplane is a 6 cyclinder 350 cubic inch Franklin. I'm not sure what your comment is supposed to mean in context.

  • @Skligmund he means moist flatulants.

  • @ksa5223

    i lol'd

  • does this 172P wing have a higher stall speed? does it extend the landing run?

  • Landing speed and distance is not chnaged. Stall speed is lower, but that is due to the droop tips. Biggest issue with the droop tips is crosswind performance and visibility. The P172 wings have a higher Never Exceed Speed because it was installed on a higher horsepower 172 from the factory, and Cessna says that it can handle it (though there is no real difference).

  • that plane is impressive

  • man wish the 172 i fly climbs as quick as this.

  • @Soon2BpiLot2992 read the description, maybe it'll tell you how to get it this quick at climbs :) 40% flaps all the way

  • @tarkinfish haha I just need to drop another 60 hp in it then she will fly.

  • why last take off?

  • He sold the airplane and got out of aviation altogether. He is building a small sailboat now.

  • Who is Ken and why suddenly quit like that? Afraid of crashing?

  • No, it just didn't thrill him as much as it used to, and he was settling down. He retired (age) and was ready to do a buch of other projects he has been wanting to do for a long time. So I guess he didn't have time for it either.

  • Fascinating.

  • Wow I wish we'd gone for a 220 in our Rallye!! that would have some grunt!!

  • 220hp skyhawk? NICE!

  • As you can see, it climbs pretty well!

  • sad ken

  • sounds awsome, my 172 dosnt even come close :(

  • anchorage is a socom map :p

  • Speaking of 'pop the flaps'...I was at Merrill Field in July of '83 and flew with a guy who did that with his Cessna 140. I greyed out and when I regained clarity discovered we were a long way up and hadn't cleared the far end of the runway yet. Unfortunately, the poor little 140 was destroyed in a bear-spotting flight. The pilot lived, however.

  • I love Franklin engines... The sound of engine is very beautiful... I flew some times Socata Rallye 220 Minerva with Franklin engine and this is AWESOME!!! 5/5 of course;] Greetings;]

  • Shit. That plane is sweet.
