  • Larry Levan!!! wow the legend...

  • last Party

  • Great job I love it!!!!!

  • THAT BASS KILLS ME!!! Larry knew the best how to play with the bassline, and vary it in a DJ set

  • is the original bass :) He was specialized on cut edits, took only the best part of the track and made a masterpiece

  • Les Rhytmes Digital :)

  • R.I.P PARADISE GARAGE N.Y.C !

  • Everytime I hear this song it gets me so lifted!

You can find a similar edit (re-pressed on vinyl) by Danny Krivit on the compilation "Edits by Mr. K" Danny's edit is actually a little simpler and just focus on the super bad bass breakdown, both are worth listening to.... again and again..

  • @bobdogner many thanks :) this one is longer than mr. K. version, so so you can get more lifted. LOL

  • U gotta love this jam !

  • itll be nice if this is pressed out on record.vinyl

  • Hmmmmmm can it be more exited souly, and lovely? Thank´s Lenny! LoL! Choonnnoooooooooooooooooooooon

  • Much like Sylvester, you know I'd Sell My Soul for...just one more Saturday night, in, say 1981, at King & Varick or 12th & Walnut. The deejay (Larry or David) was the Priest, the children were the Disciples, and everybody who attended those masses knows what the Communion was..:) The Glory of that Time and Place is burned into my Soul Forever...

  • i never tasted the Garage but Timmy Regisford would kill this at The Shelter and i would ascend into Heaven and explode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • TIMMY REGISFORD would kill this at THE SHELTER!!!!!!!!

  • Straight classic . . . RIP Mel Cheren & Larry Levan.

  • This song brings back such good memories, of the construction parties in the Garage. Where when you came out in the AM your shoes or boots were covers in gum and sawdust.

  • i was 3 when the garage opened, so i was never going to experience it first hand. that and the fact i lived in rural england. but december 2001, i made my pilgrimage to body and soul, its spiritual successor, to pay my respects .

a proper club with proper music.

  • OMG! This is just too much! LOVE IT! Boy do I miss being young and full of energy. Shaking my ass for hours non-stop at The Garage, The Loft, The Choice, Bonds International,Save the Robot, The world,The Palladium, etc, etc! Yes I was out there, big time! Those were the days!!!

  • All I can say is WORK..............!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVED when Larry dropped this, and that bassline would grab a hold of you...and it was a wrap!! Those were the days when you genuinely danced yo' ass off!!!

    SSIIIIIIGGGGHHH...

  • nostalgic! lenny defines the word soulful- got me running back to my record collection .........

  • listen people this song is one of the best songs hearing this song at the loft and garage can never be duplicated serious baby powder long live david mancuso and larry lavane listen to this mix !!!!!!!! if you dont know ask someone

  • I hear You i was There

  • Man whats up with todays crowd only 19 comments, if yt was around when this jam came out. The number of comments would be unlimited!. Come on people this is a classic, represent your old school the foundation to house, rap/hiphop with out tracks like this we would not have little wayne & all the other garbage artists out their. Peace to the old school & to my fellow new yorkers who jammed @ the garage. the loft.. you know who you are...

  • first time i heard this was on wbls new york it got me running...out to the nearest discomat to buy the album

  • to hot wow i miss this song

  • Lenny had the spirit in his vocals!!! Whew!!

  • This remix of the original is awesome. The original version released in 1978 sounds cool but this version sounds excellent. This (constructon mix) really makes you want to get up and dance nonstop while listening to Lenny's vocals. This is definately a party mix. Love it.

  • Never forget when I used to dance to this at the garage. You would be standing on one spot and 5 minutes later without moving the sound would literally move you across the room. They were great times when everyone just danced to the rhythm non stop till the morning hours. We would go from here to the Loft to hear David Mancuso. Back in the day you could buy this version at VinylMania. To the crew that new what to do..Headwash! yeah buddy.. People would beg us to get them in with our membership.

  • does this version exist on vinyl???

  • oh hell yeah its on vinyl it on his choosing you albulm. this was show nuf heatatack on the dance floor music daaaaaaam! gamagan1

  • bad ass version, gotta love the horns on this cut... the Garage and the Loft in NYC those were the days when music was fun. When music and dancing, and going to spots was about "fun". Unlike today where there is a weird tension in the music and the people.

  • .. it's true :(

  • The tension comes because instead of partying, people go to clubs now to become the next Ejoe Wilson or Brian Green. It's hard to have fun when you are really rehearsing for that big competition in Paris or wherever, and trying to outdo everybody in a circle.

  • @hawkfist69 man you said it - that tension is everywhere, you just can't relax waiting for someone to kick off, that feeling of being 'home' is LONG gone..

  • @hawkfist69 if music is no longer fun for you, this means you've thrown in your towel. the "weird tension" you speak of is from YOU. get over yourself.

  • @liennto obviously you must be not old enough to remember what it was like in the early to mid 70's or even early 80's......sure, we get older and things change, but I've been there then and I've been there now and trust me, other than being older now, THEN WAS BETTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dirtyedna What you guys had cant be compared to. I'm just getting tired of all the jaded comments about how people these days dont know how to have fun. Maybe New York is uptight with bad vibes now (snotty rich kids, perhaps?) but not where I live. Come hang out with me and my friends and we'll dance all night and love you silly. Albeit indeed, we'll be listening to 70's and early 80's disco! Great channel, btw. Subscribed! Peace

  • @liennto Agreed, there are still some good parties these days. The only thing I'd add is that there actually is some good music out there, if you're with the right DJs..examples in NYC on youtube...central park skaters after party, coney island house, fort greene soul summit.

  • @hawkfist69 Lord you hit that nail on its head we will never witness such magic a BRILLIANT time in life disco never died its name changed ahh anyone ever hear of house music we old school heads never created weird tension & hawkfist69 is so right we partied for the fun i grew up in the N.Y.C.& i party with most the modern crowd also no comparison@all the vibe 2day carries such a foggy vibe the only style i can say that has a good vibe is soulful house which again is disco with a modern vibe!

  • people need more soul therapy, with these gems as medicine peace

  • @hawkfist69 yessir was there too.these songs did it garage on friday for me ,loft on saturday.and sometimes zanzibar.today its all about standin around POSING. waiting to be seen. forget that we used to go for the workin up a sweat,dancin.peace.

    DJ WIcked

  • we did it using a Larry Levan live mixing in 1978 but our realization is brand new :))

    thanks for enjoing it

  • Kir4us,

Has this ever came out on vinyl? I have been looking for this mix for a while. heard dj rahaan play it quite alot.

I'd love to get a copy of this.

    I love it!!

  • Hi,

Great remix, but can you put a version with higher bitrate on youtube?

    Thanks,

  • Lenny did make it long and funky since he himself was a clubba. The rolling bass was no doubt the get over and rump bringer in this megahit of 1977, I think. These types of jams which were usually found at Bondy's on Park Row across from city hall...or from Downstairs Records in Times Square on 6 ave...kept the clubs in NYC soulful and raw funky. No doubt a classic.

  • @dhakaboy1 this was done by larry levan, the one that all are measured ,in his short life there were many like this APG

  • wonderful!
