The Mexicans lost their war fair and square. The dictator of Mexico at the time, Mariano Perez, wanted to fight that war. He thought he was going to get all of the Louisiana Purchase.

Even after the war the USA *paid* Mexico for their territory. The Mexicans signed their treaty and agreed to the terms. The land is not stolen.
