Why not just support Ron Paul, since recently, neither party has ever helped out the American People? Americans know the latter.
If Ron Paul was PRESIDENT OF THE USA, the American People will be able to see if this is a way out from the CORPORATE CONTROL. Americans should realize how hopeless Americas successful future is with the CORPORATE PUPPETS that they keep electing.
Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich have worked together on real things to help Ameicans.
Obama gave a speech, hosted by Robert Rubin, Goldman Sachs CEO, in 2006 at the Hamilton Foundation of the Brookings Institute. This spells his f*** America agenda out pretty clearly from the start: cut benefits for the masses, lower taxes for the wealthy and corporations, keep funding the wars.
NAFTA has been used to whipsaw American workers' wages&benefits under the THREAT of job loss. NAFTA hurt the Mexican people because it was written with specific provisions to exclude workers' right to organize& to benefit from wages levels above those of SLAVE labor. NAFTA destroyed family farm subsistence in Mexico& caused a SURGE in ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION to the U.S. OBAMA SHOULD WITHDRAW OUR country from NAFTA & ALL FREE TRADE PURSUITS BECAUSE WITHOUT A MIDDLE CLASS THERE CAN BE NO DEMOCRACY.
this guy is damn right. george soros and warren buffet are smart ass guys and know how to coordinate big financial contribution to obama, but the role of labor unions should be to remind him in powerful ways (read: STRIKES) that we can't fix the country by stomping out working people's chance at a life.
Be aware though: Every time an incumbent has been primaried in recent history, the other party won the election.
It weakens the only member of the incumbent's party who has any realistic chance of winning - the incumbent. Giving the election to the Republican thugs would be a disastrous outcome.

I think he's basically right, but one needs to be wise in the allocation of money to progressive/leftist/socialist candidates. Look at the polling for the region. Give money to genuine progressives outside your region that have a chance but need a boost rather than a long shot or a cert nearby. Daily Kos elections and Act Blue are a good place to start gathering the information you need to do this. Remember, most Repugs are more rightist than their constituents. There's more room for progs TYMT.
@sk8tafrnk Oh! So, it's more like when you high-stick the quarterback and while he is taking his penalty shot from the 3-point line, he hits a bumper and gets the multi-ball?
@warbread The fact that people invest enough of their intelligence into a sport as that pretty much proves why we've let things get this bad... and still nobody is protesting.
Just proves how effective corporate media distraction has been on more than 99% of the population.
There are aspects of Jeff Cohen's brand of progressivism with which I disagree; but from a "political analysis" standpoint, his comments are exactly right. People who agree with Jeff's political planks should not continue falling for forever-stupid triangulation. I do want to add that, from within a different context than Jeff's, even though Obama sold out before he hit the Presidential-primary trail, Obama was weak. He still is.
We need more people to stand up and fight like this man. The wealthy have everything, so why make the poor pay? The wealthy have also tweaked the system where they don't pay for anything, and instead get tax breaks. America is screwed.
This man is an ex-ACLU lawyer so therefore he is a piece of shit, and is a waste of oxygen, Read Bella Dodd's book School OFDarkness she was a communist -socialist and was blown away by who she found out truly runs the show after yrs of working feverishly for them. You have the cultural marxist Democrats and the Corporate Fascists Republicans both are Socialist and Progressives like this piece of shit says are all the same and behind the butterflys and rainbows they preach they are evil
2 party system is miserable failure. Corporations & Wealthy have their money deep into both Dems & Republican pockets so no matter whose in office- It's Their Guy! I suggest is to kick both Dems & Repubs to the curb by voting for 3rd, 4th, 5th party candidates. Lets end this "liberal vs conservative" and/or "Republicans vs Democrats" duality, its not getting us anywhere, agree both parties are corrupt, & take back our country by voting for new party candidates who will truly represent Americans.
Debby Wasserman Schultz is one of the biggest farces I've seen in the while. She cheers about every piece of shit the Democrats pass. If the Democrats passed a deal that raised taxes on the rich one percent, while compromising with the tea party by deporting all immigrants legal and illegal, She would cheer and say it is the best deal EVER
How can a country that has to print money out of thin air to keep from defaulting on is bad debt, have 4 wars going on and military bases in over 130 country s. Obama even had the nerve to say if we don't pass this I cant guaranty that social security checks will go out. LOL how about I cant guaranty we can keep our military bases open or keep the wars going or keep the size of government growing or give congress raises or health insurance, the list goes on before you hit SS that was guaranted
Rep or Dem are still two faces of the same coin... The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over(Voting) and expecting a different result. The system has to be thrown out and redone where the root of the evil(money) is no longer the predominate way of thinking or living. we need to totally expand our conscious to the point that we, all people in all countries matter and that being from one country dosen't mean that people in other countries are our underlings we all matter!
I'm amazed that there are still people, including educated people who are still surprised that there are only superficial differences among the various political parties, who quietly co-operate with each other, when important decisions being made. In this interview for example, lots of times and words wasted on unnecessarily complicated details, which in the final analysis are irrelevant. Also, the tired, old solutions, what Mr. Cohen advocates during the interview are completely futile.
I like Kucinich, and I think he's pretty much the only Democrat who isn't completly corrupt. I actually voted for him in the 08 primary. But these last few years have shown him to be weak at times when it matters the most (to me at least).
I'll be voting Ron Paul this go around. A lot of what he wants is the same: ending the wars, legalizing marijuana, cutting the 1.7 trillion "owed" to the Fed in interest instead of SS and Medicare. And his consistant voting record that proves he's legit.
@dharmaatdawn Actually he said he wouldn't have cut SS, but he doesn't like it because he thinks it would be better run privately. Instead he'd put in place an "opt-out" option, & he thinks people will be in favor of that. Financial aid let's universities get away with raising tuition beyond what's affordable, and loan subsidies help corps loanshark students into massive debt. There was a time when 1 year of college was paid off over a summer job & no one need financial aid. He wants that again.
If the Democrats punish the Democrats in the next election, they deserve what they get. Let's bring the Bushco clan back that ought to solve everything.
After voting for Obama the first time, I am sorry to say if you get away from the bullshit arguments of "right VS left" and simply analyze everything he has done since taking office in a "true and false" way their is no way you can call him anything but a failure for people worth less than 100K in this country. Shockingly, the only thing were going to get from the DNC is "just stick with us again because look at the alternative" before they sell out to the corporate oligarchy once again.
The fight is for CONGRESS, not the stupid Presidency. " Presidents don't hold power, they distract people from those who hold power" -- Hitchhiker's Guide

@hob976 Yeah, and Ron ("I just have no idea how blatantly racist remarks ended up in my OFFICIAL newsletter") Paul hasn't taking any money from any special interest groups, doesn't still back supply-side economics that brought us the financial collapse of 08, hasn't basically said "fuck the handicapped if they can't climb the steps to go to work" and "civil rights for everyone is a bad thing" because government is forcing states to treat everyone equally. A sad, 80 yr old, delusional man.
One size fits all forces businesses to not be able to make accommodations that are cost effective and can't hire or expand because of them hurting everyone. The collapse of 08 was predictable since the destruction of Brentonwoods in 1971 by Nixon. If Paul is delusional then I don't know how you characterize what you stand for looking at the State of the country. Oh, Ron Paul belittles Black youth here: /watch?v=qy6PWNNrRT8
@hob976 Yeah, i did address your point because R.P. takes special interest money just like Obama. Apparently saying "of course you played the racism card" made it a false statement even though the excerpts from his newsletter are documented (LOL), and completely ignored his documented comments about the handicapped and civil rights. (shocking) Yeah, it's almost as ridiculous and pathetic as your conservative "I said it, so that makes it true" psudo-logic.
@hob976 well how about that Meryll Lynch CEO behind Ron Reagan? was that enough clue? Our presidents are groomed by wall street and they in turn appoint them to sensitive positions without worrying about the conflict of interest. Heck they own the media! Washington and wall street are tied to the hip but the majority of us are too Snooky stupid to see between this dog and pony show and reality
Romney fundraiser K-Street including Goldman Sachs, Raytheon Company, AT&T, and Delta Airlines, which is currently fighting to reverse union-election laws that would make it easier for its workers to organize. J.C. Boggs, who lobbies on behalf of Prudential Financial, and SAP (among others) is also named as a host, as is Darryl Nirenberg, who lists Wal-Mart and MKW Capital, a leading venture capital firm, as clients.
@hob976 An other cue was how the main stream media built him up and made him a star over night... And yes, Obama essentially hired the worse guys on wall streets. I mean he essentially hired Charles Manson to watch over the nut house. hehe! I remember a small 11 second video here on YT with Mike Gravel saying Obama was backed by wall street a month before the election. I knew exactly what that meant...
We're watching a reenactment of a first Great Depression only this time US has a democratic Coolidge. It might be beneficial for Democrats to let Obama be voted out of White House, cleanse their party from corporate interests, and come back for 2016 with a new New Deal.
If you believe in deregulation of financial industry, cuts in social safety net and reduced taxation of the rich, then you're not a Democrat , not even Wall Street Democrat (sic!). You're a centrist Republican who just happens to hold a Democratic membership.
Jeff Cohen=100% correct! Gawd, Obama lies continuously. Many of us saw this coming from the day he first announced his choices for cabinet and management of the white house. Obama is more Republicrat than Boner.
I'm a liberal who has NEVER been a Democrat. I was a Green Party member for a period of time (back when Nader was involved). But I've since gone independent having "given up" not just on the Democrats and Greens but probably on the whole concept of political parties. Nice idea, but in reality they get hijacked by ideologues. I prefer to spend my time based in reality, not politics.
Americans are trained to be conduents of capitalism. Americans need to step out of their boxes if they want to understand the greater world. Canadians too. Time Canadians stop riding incog acting like Americans but pretending to be different.
Dear Real News: please tell us who is the individual/entity that funds 50% of your costs.... and is that individual/entity in any way connected to Mr Soros?
I didn't give a fuck about this charade until my Aunt's disability checks were on the line. She is paralyzed on the left side of her body. She worked her fucking ass off to become a dental hygienist. She has applied to every job under the sun. No one wants to hire her because she's paralyzed through no fault of her own. She really does try every day to be productive. Her only daughter is in Haiti working for the US Navy, risking her wellbeing to bring stability to other people's lives.
Without disability benefits my wonderful Aunt will "just be" another homeless person you step over on the sidewalk. I'm really angry about this situation. I do not want to see me Aunt who is paralyzed on the left side of her body bear the brunt so rich people can brush off all their responsibilities. My Aunt and I will be in Washington DC on October 6 2011 and we don't plan on leaving until our demands are met.
Omfg! For the last time it is not the politician, but the system. Even if Karl Marx was president, he would sell out. To be a successful politician, in this system, you must be able to raise money from "corporate" donors. That is why every other four years or so we will either get a douchebag or a turd sandwhich. Don't waist your time on a primary challenge/ another sellout. Use your resources to change the system!
The progressives take the biggest hits though, so it doesn't matter right? The unions should be careful, and perhaps direct funding only to progressive represetatives.
Very true. Obama was a wolf in sheep's clothing in law school too. Apparently he got elected to editor in chief by the liberals and then let the conservatives publish.

I wondered how long these guys would take before naming George Soros as a "good guy" on Wall Street.
Listen at 5:30 as he gives the game away.

@WellIAMScottish
