After watching this I believe a distinct possibility exists with drugs not unlike the US's current monetary policy: flood the market, wait for the contraction, make money/dismiss competitors. So the US invades Afghanistan, et al, Opium production increases (amazing but true) and drug routes--like this one--are opened back up. Supply is large and prices low, the market gets used to it then the US makes a bunch of raids, prices go up and the US releases its own stuff on the market. Any thoughts?

Well, the Taliban have to fund their armies somehow. If they produce & smuggle heroin, they make money and they damage western society at the same time. Makes sense to me if I was in their shoes. The Taliban have in the past clamped down on poppy cultivation but in recent years I think this has changed. Also many 100s of thousands of Afghans rely on it as the only source of income. cant blame them for growing the stuff. Also i agree that all drugs should be legalised
