The only thing that gets me about this particular hit is when Caps fan respond to it like it is an absolute outrage that Ovechkin got in trouble for this. I do think it was more a result of Campbell tripping than it was Ovechkin playing dirty. However, everyone knows that if Campbell had been the one to hit Ovechkin like that, Caps fans would be screaming for his blood.

i am also a hawks fan, i don't think it was a dirty hit for many reasons. one of which is duncan keith didn't retaliate right away, keith was right there watching the hit and he didn't react. he would have if he had felt it was a dirty hit. i think campbell just wasn't expecting the hit and he lost balance.

In all honesty, Campbell was turning and Ovechkin made the hit to soon, he would've waited a second longer the hit would've most likely been clean, but seriously I'm a Ovechkin fan yah but still If you've ever played hockey in a league, you would be able to comprehend the moment in the game for Ovechkin it's not like you've never seen it before, just stop complaining he got his games and there still both playing in the league. It wasn't the dirtiest hit ever but that's something you should know not to do. Can't use the excuse he didn't mean to injure him, you don't push somebody in that position.

But injuries can be serious, and it's never good. I don't think the shove was that hard...Campbell wasn't in the greatest position, and wasn't expecting a shove so he tripped a little. Could Ovi have avoided it? Probably. Wait half a second and take a normal check into the boards. Would've probably avoided the injury and the ejection.

ovechkin is just plain dumb.
in interviews he never has anything intelligent to say, only "duh" type of stuff like "we gotta play more hard" and "we gotta more goals". his style of play is repetitive and he makes a lot bad decisions (especially in big games). without the physical talent (which he has a lot of) he would be garbage.

@joyfulvulture If you want him to give more varied answers, ask the reporters to ask more varied questions. They ask the same thing every game. And If I was OV I would continue the same play style even if it is repetitive cause it's getting him 50 goal seasons.
Sometimes boarding is a tough call to make, but Campbell buckled and went down awkwardly causing him to get injured. OV didn't injure him on purpose and even stayed around to make sure he was okay. You can stop arguing now, I think.

idk what makes his suspension worst? The fact that it happened right after Cooke got nothing for trying to leave Savard brain dead, or that those 2 games cost him the goal and scoring titles. I think Ovechkin doesnt realize how strong he is, but regardless, it was a innocent shove and Campbell saw him the whole way AND STILL did not put himself in position to take that push.
