Well, I definitely feel that the small ball era players had it harder than today's players. The ball is slower today. I still believe many players 15 years ago, including Waldner, Gatien, Saive, Appelgren and maybe even Grubba would beat the best players of today using the 40mm ball.

I'm pretty sure you can still buy the 38's I know my table tennis club still orders them if you ask. I notice this sport is getting slower and less complex as time goes on...First it was bigger balls now it's no speed glue. Table tennis is the only sport i see devolving, but still a fantastic and great game.
