  • im goin to uni because although it costs alot and the price has recently risen but usually by the end of it you end up with more money from a better job and a better house etc so definately worth it. its usually better for medical jobs or science but if you can earn a good amount from it GO!

  • $180,000? My sister's cost $10,000 a year.

  • How about a Community College?

  • @XCdaWOODS I haven't gone but my dad did and he went from a very poor family to being very well off. Easy to say that college changed his life

  • where i live its 2500$ a year... no way ill be 160000$ off

  • lucky education is free in scotland

  • wow, American college costs $180,000? I thought £40,000 was bad.

  • Higher education is worth it for things like programming and Engineering. You learn ways to do your job better/safer and can therefore make more money. Practical degrees are always good, and nothing wrong with going to a vocational school to learn a trade skill.

  • School is good but only for some reasons like what woody said but if you don't then you have those extra years to get a head start. Kids everyday get out of college with their degree up their ass and bartending.

  • School is good but on

  • College is an experience you pay for, but more importantly an investment. You trade a crap ton of debt and forgo ~4 years of slightly above minimum wage income for a piece of paper and (more importantly) networking opportunities that give you a MUCH higher starting salary AND better career (and salary) advancement opportunities upon graduation.

You can do the pro formas. Generally, even with all that debt, your return on your initial investment is INSANELY high.

  • The topic and a COD gameplay really don't match....

  • Mw3

  • The answer as Chris Pirillo says, is, it depends. If you want a job that requires credentials (such as being a nurse, doctor, lawyer, engineer), then it's necessary and more than worth it. If you want to start your own business or just work a regular job, not so much. But college is more than just academics....it's a chance to network with fellow peers, which can help you in all walks of life.

I'm majoring in Computer Science and want to be a software engineer

  • and I want a better foundation in mathematics, so it's so worth it for me. The acquiring of credentials and ability to network is tremendous and in engineering colleges, there are job fairs where companies like NASA will hire you right out of the gate. You have to talk to people and learn about the programs your college/uni holds. Know what your dream is and what will help you get there. It's all about perspective. You can live with your parents for a few years while you pay off a debt too.

  • Higher ED, worth it!

One way to do it, and have NO STUDENT LOANS TO PAY BACK: 1.Do 4 years in the military and DON'T FORGET TO SIGN UP FOR THE GI BILL. 2. Be employed at a public university, ALL public universities ARE REQUIRED by law to interview veterans. 3. After some time, sometimes immediately, you will be eligible for tuition breaks. Each university is different.

FYI: The GI BILL money goes directly to YOU not the university. You can pay living expensive with the left over if needed.

  • there is a 25 killstreak in mw3 spoiler

  • I'm a high school senior and college is definitely worth it. If you work hard, and learn how to network (which many people don't) you can easily get a job and work your way up the echelon.

  • In Australia we get a government loan (interest free). The government pays for uni outright unless its a private uni (which I believe there is only 2 in Aus. Kinda pointless though to go private unless your a foreign student) Then when you start earning about $40,000p.a you start paying it back through tax. The idea is that by the time you graduate you can afford to pay it back when you have a good job. We can also apply for a study allowance. I currently dont have to work because of this.

  • I'm currently enrolled in a cisco program at my local community college and, without a doubt, I feel like I'm wasting my time. They stagger the classes to make you pay more by having to take them in different semesters, drop classes randomly without warning, and make me take classes totally unrelated to networking in any form. I basically have 95% electrical engineering classes and 5% computers and networking, which would be fine if I intended to get a bachelors degree, but I want to work now.

  • Airspace is full

  • I'm definitely going. There are ways to lower the costs like going to a community college, taking ap classes in high school, work-stury programs, etc. And while you start with crazy amounts of debt, on AVERAGE someone who obtains a bachelor degree will earn 1 million dollars more in their lifetime than someone who didn't go to college.

  • I don't want to go to college. For one I've never been much of a fan of school but as you said it can be really expensive. Also I don't know what I would necessarily do at college if I went so that seems like a waste to go with out a plan. If anything I'd probably go to a trade school.

  • Im currently a freshman in high school and my goal is to go to West Point or The Naval Academy. The schools are hard to get into but I'm trying my hardest. Both are free but i know that i am paying a price for it by having a chance of dying but i have all was wanted to be in the military.

  • Woody, we must play toghether.....NOW (zoidberg said so) (V)(;,,;)(V)

  • the government will giv me a stipend (money) if i continue to college i liv in malta i get paid to learn

  • College in its present form is not worth it.

  • I went straight from college to my beloved United States Marine Corps. I feel like it benefits me more than any other thing I could have done, and I couldve done a lot of things with the grades and determination that I had in high school. But the corps changed me as a person, and I personally feel that it was the best decision I have ever made. I have been serving for 5 years now and nothing to this day has made me hesitate on my decision of joining. This was just my little input.

  • Woody whats up with your account and Mw3 now?

  • Towelie <3

  • I'm nineteen years old and I've been going to community college for two years now with about no progress in furthering my education. I've failed two college classes now and come really close on my other classes. I don't even go to school regularly because I'm depressed and often feel it isn't worth it.

College isn't for everyone. I didn't do well in high school and while I love learning I lack the motivation to do the work. You just have to make the right decisions for you.

  • I extremely appreciate your thoughts on this. Oddly enough in India, for middle to upper class people not going to college is not an option. It's just something you have to do.

  • If you wan to earn an average of 1.6million dollars more over your lifetime you will go to school for at least 6 years after highschool. 1.6million is > the average student loan debt of $40,000. Go to school you lazy asses.

  • In Denmark college is free... i really think that's a much better solution then in USA, because everybody have the same opportunities, and you don't need rich parents to be well educated.

Plus we have a system that gives about 400-500 dollars per month.

  • ok people in other countries getting a degree there, it wont mean anything if you every decide to move to america to find a job. just saying.

  • @NikoHTX ignorant dumbass

  • @TheQuarTzy how so? im just repeating what my professor said.

  • Yeah its heavily subsidized in Canada as well. We do have student loans, but the government is pretty relaxed about it and forgive a lot of loans anyways...

  • Lucky for me that here in sweden university is free :D

  • Your comments about college are very accurate. In my opinion college is for certain individuals who can manage their time and know the amount of work that is required of them. I think there are some young adults who should not go college. Overall those who I believe should go to college it is definitely worth it despite the debt they incur. As an engineering student by some early calculations it appears that it will take about 10 years to pay back my loans which is very reasonable.

  • @knousam my thoughts exactly. some people are just not fit for college.

  • <3 all the people that think there college is "free". They'll pay for their college several times over because of the dead weights public options enable. Nothing is free. Only people that are willing to work for it should get a college education, but that said it would probably be better to learn it yourself. We just need to get society away from degrees and more to "Do you know what you are doing or not".

  • @worgenzwithm14z ; I find your statement highly inaccurate. I go to community college right now and the government pays entirely for my education, plus some extra money. Now obviously this is because I'm not well off, but college is free for me and many other people in the US, not even mentioning countries where higher education is completely free like Sweden.

  • Some commentator on machinima went 1-115 with the RPG on Scrapyard MW2

  • lmfao i think 1-50 is the worst score i've ever seen in any cod ever.

  • Fuck. The U.S sounds shitty in Ireland (and no I'm not a fucking leprechaun) the government pays for most of it I just have to pay €2000 per year.

  • no im not going to it costs WAY to much

  • College most definitely worth it. If you go to an instate, public school, you are not going to rack up 160 000 in debt. No way. You meet so many new people and ideas. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of college graduates are better off financially over the course of their life than high school graduates

  • @redeyedmonk entirely agree

  • in denmark we pay tax - in denmark school is free - in denmark we care for other people - denmark so much better than USA

  • An excellent job to have without all of the college is being a Custom agent on the US border. I know a guy who has been doing this for about 6-7 years and he said that after about 10 years he will be making a money in the 6 digits. HOLY SHIT! Think about that 100,000 and not even having to go to college. If thats not enough you only have to work for 20 years then you keep making money once you have retired. Now thats what i call a career.

  • @MarcQ21 Really? I didn't know that. If you get the Canadian border that is a swinging deal, but the Mexican border gets sketchy pretty quick.

  • @TheMightySkippy The Canadian border is a snap. I go through there at least 3 times a week. They check your passport ask where you live and where you are going then your are on your way. Plus there is hardly ever any lines that you have to deal with. Looking at the mexican border you have a 10 lane check point and it is always full of drug cartels. The Customs are a serious option for me since i live so close and it is just logical tests to get in.

  • @MarcQ21 I live about an hour and a half away from the Mexican border and we here a lot of stories of people getting killed. It is pretty crazy down there sometimes :(

  • @TheMightySkippy That sucks i have watched documentaries on the Mexican Border... Scary shit goes on there

  • G11 on nuketown?

  • That's what scholarships are for, and as far as owning your own business, if it doesn't work out you have a degree to fall back on.

  • well did woody go to college? cus he seems pretty successful

  • wait so what game?

  • @Sacatume mw3

  • The Saudi government pay Monthly 300 Dollar For each student

  • Listen to his voice change completely from 6:40 to 6:50

  • sadly, money is everything these days. if your kids are really smart, they have a good chance of getting a scholarship,

  • In Ireland 3rd level schooling is free. But accomodation ,food etc. isn't .

  • lol at him trying to 'HIDE' the fact his talking about mw3:)

  • in england you dont have to begin paying your depts for university until your earnning over £10,000 a year which is cool :)

  • Im currently a freshman in college and my projected major is biomedical engineering so i need this education lol

  • I LOVE U <3

  • I live in the UK so we get loaned money for University (College) From government set up organisations, by the end of University i will have around £50,000 worth of debt but wont have to start paying it back until i earn over £21,000 a year and then it's only like £7 a week from your paycheck so nothing overly major, i will be going to university or college because i need to get the qualifications to pursue the career i am interested in so to me it's vital!

  • Never went to college and I've made really good money thus far. I'm 24 and now realizing that if I want to something I enjoy for money, I need some sort of schooling. That being said, no 4 year degree (maybe) but I am going for some certificates in web design.

  • in canada the government gives the loans

  • i love you woody

  • Wow thats insane.... In australia there is a thing called hecs..... Which is a govt funded university loan.... Where interest is indexed to inflation ..... And you are not required to pay it off till you earn a certain amount a year (something like $40 grand )

  • I don't want to be a peasant. So I'm going to college

  • There are reasons for college here's the list 1.bitches 2.bitches 3.bitches

  • yes i feel college is worth it because it is much easier to go out of college and get hired by an employer than to start ur own business

  • @jehrising I think it really depends on what you want out of your job and where you want to live. Where I am from 60k a year is not enough to cover expenses, but if you go to different places the cost of living is less.

  • Like the rest of my ignorant race

  • Honestly i believe so. I see so many black people FAIL at life because they look at college as "just more schooling." Me on the other hand, 19 year old black guy going to school to be an anesthesiologist which average around 350k just so i won't have to stuggle liie the rest of my

  • @rickandkiki Have fun not having a social life.

  • Did anyone else notice TmarTn getting 69 kills? Lol

  • I watch your vids, i'm a herp derp in cod xD

  • @2:11 onslaught is 43-1 and woody is 4-0 :P

  • TmarTn you beast

  • Finland has free college.

  • college is an investment

  • I don't think I'm going to college. It costs over $100,00 and sometimes even if you graduate it will still probably be hard to find a job. There's also the chance I might not even finish college. There's also a lot of good jobs that don't require going to college. I'm not really planning on having a family or kids so I won't need as much money. i will only need enough money to buy or rent a place to live and to pay bills. I also don't want to have to study for 4 more years.

  • If you want to work for someone I guess its worth it. I don't have a degree, I've worked for Cigna and AT&T (around 60k jobs). Both jobs all my co workers had BA's. I want to go back to school to find my passion though. I think in this economy quality people beat out college grads because quality makes money and desperate debt grads don't. Affirmative action tax breaks will get you hired no matter what.

  • Worth it- In this economy and level of competition if you want to be secure and live a healthy, stress free life with a healthy family, definitely worth it. The FEW people here that say they are living great without a college education, but let me say, with more and more competition and less spots for it to apply, unless you can work your way up to the manager of Taco Cabana, go to college, and specialize in something you LIKE, but doesn't pay like shit.

  • by new game u mean, "WNBA 2012" *WINK WINK*

  • Higher education is definitely worth it no question about it ...

  • im glad my dad has alot of money and will pay for me, and my twin college

  • @MrLazyAmerica dont take this the wrong way im just saying but u can also do really good in achool and get a scholarship so ur dad doesnt even have yo ay :D

  • @xXgarabed45Xx i know, but im saying if i didnt get a scholarship he said he would pay

  • @MrLazyAmerica oh ya well of course hes ur dad he wants the best for u in life lol

  • @xXgarabed45Xx haha true

  • also, try going to one of the military academies...

  • no disrepect to woody, but I'd love to see how he'd fair against xcal

  • Go to state school, have no debt

  • oh yeah, me and lonelymailbox have black ops 2, skrew mw3 i got that 10 months ago ;)

  • San Diego State for either environmental or aerospace engineering bachelor, most likely getting paid by a navy rotc scholarship, after the four years in navy/ marines its masters time baby

  • i like vaj

  • This is why I watch Woody. I could go and watch other amazing cod players and see their outstanding gameplay. But Woody? He's something else. He has quality commentary. Legit bro. Btw college is worth it. I agree, you can get a suitable amount of money by not going to college. But then again, what you said before, the possibilities are limited. It's debatable. Anyway, nice video! :D

  • 2 years of community college and then transfer to the college that you want to get in within your grasp. This is the trend that I find everyone I know is doing, needless to say there are other methods such as using the military's scholarship or enlist in the military. Either way you still have to serve them, but using the scholarship option, you can start out as an officer aka higher rank/higher pay.

  • great vid Woody could you maybe do a follow up about the different ways to get into college like joining military or scholarships? stuff like that

  • If you get a useful, lucrative degree, then its not a waste, dont forget kids, when you get your degree you'll have this thing called debt, and hopefully your new career can pay it off undr 20 years LOLOL. Regradless, higher education is pretty much the standard nowadays. Try looking for trade schools, Certification + a Degree > just a degree.

Me- taking classes, while in the military

  • the solution to all problems with college in the US: don't go to college in the US. I'm taking my bachelor of science at the university of alberta and my tuition is $6000 a year. that doesn't include text books, and i live at home so i don't pay rent. but it does include a student health and dental plan, as well as travel insurance. even if i was paying for rent and food every month i wouldn't be paying $60,000 a year. i don't know how people pay that much. can't wait for your mw3 videos!

  • I live in Massachusetts and im not sure about the rest of the country, but here....College is a MUST. You cannot get any job worth doing without one, unless you want to work in retail. Is college worth it? most sciences..engineering, medical, chemical, physics, etx....yes, arts and humanities...NOOO...if you go to college for 4 years to be an Art major, or Psychology...dont even bother.

  • @Imprezaowner27 How else can you become a registered clinical psychologist without going to university?.. I agree that an Arts degree is a waste of time but Psychology is a legitimate science.

  • @StoneFaceJ Getting a masters and becoming a Dr. is a bit different and most definitely worth it. 4 year bachelor though...waste of money.

  • @Imprezaowner27 Agreed. That settles it then!

  • I am currently in college for mechanical engineering and i have always want to be and engineer. So no matter the cost it will be worth it for me.

  • I'm entirely torn on college. On one hand, I absolutely love science/technology( my best grades are in bio), on the other, I have some rough, but still good, art talent, and its pretty fun too. The art path doesn't really require much/any college, but id get poo pay. Science can pay out well, but I may scratch my eyes out doing tonsss of hard science work, while having enormous debt, and living far from home.

  • Going to college definitely, medical school probably and hopefully... there goes the next decade of my life but it'll be worth it when I'm making more money than I would've otherwise :)

  • @xSwitchB1ade With about 1 to 2 percent interest. Also, if you make your monthly payments your loan is forgiven after 25 years (soon to be 20).

  • You are talking about Uncharted 3, right?!?!

  • Great topic! I'm in college right now, but I am working to pay for it at the same time. Hopefully I can graduate with just a small amount of loans. It's hard work, but it is paying off so far.

  • Im actualley going to marine scout sniper schol

  • @Drl3utterfly I'm not an anesthesiologist yet. I don't know why, they just make a lot of money. It's mostly analyzing data and doing things like epidurals and anesthesia (obviously).

  • Your a camper you suck

  • we all know it's MW3 !!!! LOOOL

  • I'm going to study game design at college next year, then university and then hopefully employment at ubisoft or bethesda studios etc. :)

  • @Lojkovic no i have no problem with that i don't know why i would

  • @TermVictory What was your gpa and Sat/Act scores?

  • Luke Skywalker would like his lightsaber back please

  • whats the name of this game again?!?!?!?!?

  • @MrMalik4000 Battlefield 3.

  • I agree Woody, some jobs you just wont be able to get without going to college, that's why I think it's worth.

  • lol, brand new game. :p

  • @TheYochinator If you don't have the merit to earn a scholarship you probably didn't get into a school that costs $40,000 a year.

  • @xSwitchB1ade How do you think it works here in America?

  • @TheMightySkippy Well, as I understand it, college charges a hell of a lot. $150,000 doesn't seem to be an uncommon cost for college in the USA. I attend the University of Melbourne, and despite the fact UniMelb is ranked 32nd in the world, the entire cost for my 4 year economics degree is around $60,000. All of that is loaned as part of HECS by the australian government, and I don't get charged any interest or even have to start paying it back till I make over $30,000ish per year.

  • @xSwitchB1ade The closest public university to me costs $9720 a year (according to their website). $150,000 is the absolute worst case scenario, a private university like Harvard where you take a loan for all 4 years without paying for any of it or receiving financial aid or scholarships. For public universities it is extremely easy to get a scholarship which can often lead to no cost. There are student loan programs through the government, but the majority of which are through banks with.

  • @SOVagabond

Don't go to college, but work hard = manager McDonalds = Maybe $50,000

Go to college, and work hard = Become VP of engineering = At least $200,000 (Example of becoming an engineer, but can work with any profession)

  • I believe that there is a GI program and scholarships

  • mw3!!

  • Counting the money I will receive in Pell Grants, I will finish my undergraduate studies with a debt of $60,000+, and then I plan on going to graduate school, so I will have more debt on top of that.

  • Woody when playing at Nuketown, it is best to run Flak Jacket with Tactical Mask Pro and camp behind the semi-truck with the opening in the middle. You can see into all of the enemy spawn points, especially behind the yellow coach.

  • @ProfessorMultiKill Yeah, I find it interesting how Woody complains about ghost then uses it on the one map where ghost isn't even useful. Plus flak jacket is a must, and I agree the couch is the best spot.

  • @TheMightySkippy I didn't notice he was using ghost. lol. I always laugh at the idiots that use ghost at Nuketown. Never could a perk be more useless then ghost is at Nuketown.

  • @ProfessorMultiKill I know lol

  • I believe college is definitely worth it even though I'm not going per-say, I'm going to either a Film or Theatre school :D

  • This is a really retarded question. Why would college not be worth it? If you joined the work force, you wouldn't make as much money, and you wouldn't realize how hard life is if you don't go through the hard work of college.

  • If college was cheap and wasn't so dam stressful to get in I think alot more peoples would go to college since most good job require college

  • @chuckielong1 If it was cheap and less stressful, there would be more people going to college, more competitions in the job market, thus making it harder for people with degrees to find jobs. Then you would have to get a more stressful, expensive degree.

  • @shurken01 The job market already big as is and when i said stressful i meant like the thing you need to do to et in and stuff and like the stress of not knowing you going to get accepted or not.... there already more competition in job market due to the main fact there alot of forein peoples competing for the same job peoples in US competing for and they willing to accept a low pay

  • 1/50? that guy is shit.

  • aka don't major in art

  • most countries don't have a college debt bubble crisis because their educational systems are very heavily socialist which essentially means the government pays college bills for the students and takes the money for college out of people's taxes. Whether or not that actually leads to huge government deficits is another story

  • short answer>>>>no

  • The U.S.A just needs to lower it's college funds because they're absolutely ridiculous

  • thumbs up if you were their in the live stream

  • I am in high school and I got a brain injury 2 years ago. I am going to graduate at least 2 years late, so I say fuck collage.

  • @TheBakedMuffinMan is it from playing football, that sucks man, feel better

  • @factioncollective1 Being a dumbass kid and then playing football. Thanks man.

  • Post 9/11...of course I go to school...it's FREE!

  • Dang woody i wish you were my dad. banks wont give loans and i have to depend on competitive as hell scholarships, so i will probably finish my first 2 years of community college in 4 years.

  • @Dvizard77

If you can find a way to enjoy the learning process, College/University will seem much more worth the cost. If it doesn't seem like a chore you will do a lot better. Money wise it's slightly better in Canada but working and going to school at the same time is do able if you manage your time effectively.
