  • i would use it too if marshall was paying me too'

  • but y r u guyz hating on the MG if zakkkk usez it!

  • @alpha1shadow Now, I really dislike Zakk...but since when does he use MG amps??? Honestly, they sound worse than Crate amps to me, and that's saying something. Crate can't even get valve amps right!

  • @chuckelator lol I was trolling. It's a piece of shit. He uses it to promote Marshall to the beginners but he doesn't use it in anything that people pay to hear. The reason why he makes it sound decent is because it's all in the hands.

  • What speaker is that?some people don't know how much speakers affect the tone

  • I have a 2210 and it sounds just as sweet with the Boss Delay in the loop. Will be kicking out some tunes on it tonight!

  • i know that the late series of 800 were the 2205 and 2210 with 2 channels / split channels, but how does the latest 1's sounds than the original?

  • wtf happened to your cab?

  • Anyone tried the JVM series? If not, try one out and it will blow you away. Same transformers as the JCM 800 series, but with way more flexability and an array of tones to die for. Best clean ever right through to gains that are almost too much, (for me at least!)

The mid gains are great for blues rock etc and would compete with any JCM800.

    I know. I own them both... JCM 2203/2205/JVM 205 through 1960AX cab; 4x12 Greenbacks

  • Lol he look like Robert from Metallica

  • What the hell is that song he plays in the begining?

  • I think this dude's using his metal zone or heavy metal pedal. This doesn't sound like a JCM800 to me.

  • You play really good. I like that satanic reverb and btw you look like Robert Trujillo from Metallica but it's ok becouse he's a cool guy :D

  • Awesome tone, but which one would you suggest to a guy who likes to play metallica, GnR, Iron Maiden, and some other classic rock/metal stuff from 80s? 2210 or 2203?

  • @dzava 2203 is the classic jcm800 sound

  • @davidfregoli and how about JCM800 vs. Vintage Modern? Which one to choose for live play and sometimes bedroom playing?

yeah, i know its kinda dumb to take the beast to an apartment, but what else can i do when I want an old school marshall...

  • @dzava I'd go for an Orange, Dual Terror if you play medium sized clubs or Tiny Terror for small clubs and bedroom

  • @davidfregoli Yes, another guitarist in my band has got the Tiny Terror...its a loud little thing... just 15 W and has got plenty of guts...

but I dont like the sond of Orange nad would be the difference between VM and TT that big?

  • amazing tone!

  • NADA COMO EL SONIDO INGLES !!!

  • anyone selling one of these ? give me a message :D

  • I had one of those and it didn't sound like that

  • dunno if any1 has told u that ure missing two speakers m8 lol

  • hello im getting a new amp either a jcm 800 900 2000 or vox ac 30 i really wanna get a nice brown sound like van halen and tight overdrive like guns n roses , kiss and ozzy ousbourne but i will also need to clean up the sound to get a jimi hendrix or pink floyd tone which amp should i get and those the jcm 800 take pedals well because it has no fx loop thanks give me opinions .

  • @12345678ix dude get a peavey 5150 with an early 900 cab or an 800 cab because the speakers in the cab would be real made in England not china and if you want to stick with Marshall go with the 2000 dsl 50 or 100 no tsl they don't sound as good i had both and still have the dsl 50 full and love it and right next to it is my 2 5150s and love them too haha but the vox wont get you there the 800s take pedals well but tend to thin out..

  • @12345678ix but if you want total brown sound go with the David bray modded plexi thats the link and thats next on my list haha.

  • Isnt that a Steve Vai song your playing?

  • Nice sound, I love this Marshall head.

  • That sounded awesome, are you sure it is stock?

  • Voce esta usando boost, certo?

Are u using any boost pedal, right?

  • That's got to be the most dynamic sounding 2205 I've ever heard. Mine is in the shop getting all the filter caps replaced and the OT and Choke replaced for a Mercury.

  • how do you switch in between clean and distorted then?

  • followed the second day and i miss two of the speakers

  • awful vibratos...

  • I think his vibrato sounds good... kind of wide and fast, kind of reminds me of a BB King thing.

  • to demo an amp you shouldn't use any effects

  • holy crap that is one of the best JCM800 tones I've heard! a lot of guys sound really thin and tinny, yours is really full and fat!

  • i love marshalls, i wanna get one soon, ok im 15 and i play maybe 3 4 gigs a month so i know a jcm 800 would have the volume for a stage, but would it be good for a bedroom amp to? somone told me no it couldnt.

  • @XzaccYXguitarXplayer it would just turn down the volume on the head to like 1 or 2 and keep the volume on you guitar turned up to 10 and you should still get some good disortion

  • It wouldn't sound as good, so i'd reccomend to get a small, cheap practice amp for home use, and just use the marshall for gigs. But, if you really wanted to, it could be semi quiet.

  • Is there a way to use a footswitch to go from clean to distorted with a JCM 800?

  • not on all of them.

    for the 2205 / 2210 there is a footswitch

but for the 2203 or 2204 for example there is none.

  • Ok, thanks

  • Does that mean if i buy a for example JCM800 2203 and later on i go some other place and buy a footswitch i cant use it on the JCM800 ?

  • on a JCM 800 2203 you can't use a footswitch. it doesn't have any channels that you could switch ;) it's a one-channel design.

  • I cant find these anywhere, I want to buy one but there so hard to find!

  • 1000 dollars on ebay. lol

  • because the JCM series is discontinued :(

  • No it's not. JCM2000?

  • @irarawkstarr yea but the JCM series meaning 600 800 900 and 2000 are no longer in production you can find em but there a discontinued series

  • @IJIIKY9192 The JCM 2000 DSL and TSL are still available -new and of course second hand

  • This is the JCM800 with reverb right? Really nice sound there man. The sound those JCM800s put out is like porn to me. lol. I'm getting one as soon as I have the money.

  • had an old 80's jcm 800 50watt. sorry I sold it back in 93...now i have a vintage/modern and it kicks ass but the old 800's were the best.....

  • marshalls started not being good after the jcm900

  • Comment removed

  • what speakers do you use?

  • looks like only two ha ha

  • MG series suck ass what are you talking about....

  • lmao MGs are so fucking terrible its a disgrace to marshall. Cleans suck dick. overdrive and distortion are muddier than hell. cheesy shitty effects also. just stick with the JCM's and throw that shit out. and if u cant tell the difference between that solid state shit and a tube amp thats just sad

  • thats just it its your own OPINION LEARN WHAT THE FDD SWITCH IS FOR AND WHAT IT DOES

  • i know what the Frequency Dependant Damping switch is for. makes an attempt to sound more tube-like but still shitty

  • it does nothing believe me

  • wow you have no ear for tone...

  • how do i have no ear for tone?.....

  • I find that the MG series amps lack in chunk, balls and sounds really thin. I dont know, not for me at all.

  • The MG is just bad ass as a cheap practice amp, you won't need no pedals. but that's pretty much it

  • MG 100HDFX shouldnt even be put in the same sentance as a JCM nevermind the same catagory as they are a piece of shite, a rule of thumb basically is that if a marshall has anything other than valves in it, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM IT!!!!

  • @wellys I own an mg100 hdfx. Its not great, but its good. they aren't terrible and you cant argue. 300 bucks for 100 wats? fughet about it, But the new ones are ugly as shit

  • @JayLovePlaysGuitar I have an MG100FX, on its own it's pretty terrible, but my effects make it sound nice. 100 watt as well so that's quite good. Definetly want a JCM at one point though. Got it for £250.

  • @wellys Play a Lead 12 and say that again :) That little combo cooks man.

  • @chuckelator Well, the stock speaker isn't great, but the amp has a killer tone. It was my first amp when I was 13 years old, and I still have it, and I'm 26 now.

  • I have a MG100DFX, and it does not come close to any of the JCM series amps I've played. I like the tone for practice use, but if I had the money I'd go straight to the JCM 800 or 2000.

I've had the MG100 for 5-6 years. Good amp to play on though, but it IS lacking.

  • man i have a 83' jcm 800 2203 that is the fucking BOMB. like it IS the fucking best amp money can buy, im 16 and i recieved it last XMAS totaly worth every freakin dime

  • i know what ya mean, i have the MG100. I really don't like it. I'm going to buy a JCM 2000 soon

  • i assume this is modded right?

  • no, standard 2205

  • Sweet tone!

  • i know your using delay there, but your tone literally gave me chills....it must sound just as badass without effects though!

  • Hey. Nice playing!!. Is the overdrive only comming from the amp?..

  • im thinking of selling my 1987 model of this amp because i want a single channel 2203 version ....... anyone know how much i could get for it?

  • cheap on ebay

  • nice

  • INSANE TONE!!!! Do you need to play loud to get this tone? Or you can have it in your appartement without getting complains...

  • it depends what kind of neighbours you have

    hahahah

  • With an attenuator you'll be fine.

  • I love that distortion/overdrive what are you using???

  • jcm800.

  • Ah okey. But the sound still. It's not a bad sound. But it doesn't bare any resemblence to the Jcm800 classic sound.

But I'm still confused why it sounds like a distortion and not an overdrive. Are there any distortion clips in it or something? Cause a pure tube driven channel doesn't sound anything like that.

  • if you want a sound of tubes I exceed the level 4 at that time or even 1, the Cab as influences by 70% in the sound, I design and build amplifiers, is what I mean

  • @xdarrenx I have this amp. Supposedly there's a diode in the distortion channel. It's still very tubish, but it definitely has that extra edge to it when you turn the gain all the way up. To me, it still sounds like a classic JCM800, but slightly "hotrodded".

It's really a great amp, I love mine. The only problem is, it doesn't clean up all that well w/ the guitar volume, unless you're using a guitar with single coils. They clean up better through it for some reason.

  • @irarawkstarr Because a single coil has half the output. It doesn't hit the front of the amp has hard, therefore it cleans up easier. The signal is less compressed.

  • It sounds like a distortion not an overdrive. IT doesn't have that tube character to it. Hmmm weird :S

  • a test 2205, is totally different from any jcm800 has a stage further gain

  • @jomirand the 2205 does not have a further gain stage than a 2204. The 2205 has diode clipping added to the gain channel for additional gain, not another stage

  • @lespaulman1 correct, but apart but there is a triode, while the schematic reviews

  • That can't be only the Amp drive? I played a jcm800 a few times and own a jcm900 myself, but I swear it sounds different, and has way less gain. It doesn't have that characteristic jcm800 drive sound.

  • it has THE charachteristis of a jcm 800 in my opinion... awsome tone!!!!

  • where is the another 2 speakers??

  • When I made that box in the store only had 2 speakers, so the following month got the other 2

  • could you played an even more boring riff?

  • Robert Trujillo!!! omg

  • dudes(and dudettes).. SINCE WHEN IS THAT A JCM 800? PAY CLOSE ATTENTION IT HAS 11 CONTROL KNOBS, 11! THE JCM 800 HAVE ONLY 6 CONTROL KNOBS, FROM LEFT TO RIGHT.. PRESENCE BASS MIDDLE TREBLE MASTER VOLUME AND PRE-AMP..

  • They used to make a 2-channel JCM800. It's rare and it's AWESOME. I had the priviledge of demo-ing one last year, but I didn't have the cash to take it home.

  • You're absolutely right, it's the JCM 800 2205 50-watt

  • channel switcher is lame. there is a reason they're rare. NO ONE FUCKING BOUGHT THEM.

  • Since when do all JCM 800s have 6 knobs? The last I checked, some models (like the 2205 in this vid) had 11 knobs and other models (like the 2204) had 6.

  • Sounds great...and well played too. What brand are the tubes in the amp? And which model of DiMarzio pickups? Thanks.

  • That opening lick is Steve Vai from the Carvin website...where he does a demo of the Legacy amp!

  • Mine its a 2210, I told about Marshall 2210 that they said it isn't valve amps. A ver si te enteras amigo, que meas fuera de tiesto. Read carefully baby.

  • Incredible sound, and good playing. Congratulations and Rock On!

  • In the JCM 900 there tl072, in this amp only 2 diodes, in fact give it a genial tone, I built amplifiers and several plexis, and really this is one of my favourites

  • The only hibryd between valves and transistors is the JCM900.The worst by my opinion.

  • no, the 2205 and 2210 are built the same way. I just checked the schematic and there is indeed 2 1n4007 diodes right after V2b.

  • In 1964 The rectifier valve was eliminated and in his(her, your) place rectifying diodes were mounted. Diodes are mounted since 1964 in first plexis, don't believe people that don't know what they say.

  • whats with the top right tube missing?

  • Damn good vid..... damn good playing. 5 stars!

  • that cab doesnt look quite stock but i cant put my finger on it..

  • I used to own an 87 version and it didn't sound anywhere as smooth as this one does. What are you using for speakers? Cheers, Lucius

  • Nice dude

    i just bought a jcm800 from 82 and a new marshall cab

but the cab is horrible it has cheap knockoff celestion 70 watt speakers

so im looking for one with vintage 30s or vintage 25s

  • Thats a nice one. Many do not sound that good, in my opinion. I bought 2 of them when they first came out from a catalog and they both sucked. They were very tinny and buzzy..Thats a nice one.

  • wow, you have a very very good finger vibrato man. how long did you work on it? nice tones.

  • Do you have to share the gain with the clean and boost tone ?

  • hola, me encanta el marshall jcm 800, ¿que cancion es la que tocas al principio y de que grupo? esque se la he oido a mucha gente, gracias adelantadas. Salu2.

  • I have the OLD 6 knob jcm 800.. whats the difference?

  • 2 Channel, Reverb, Loop

  • whats with your cab also lol

  • its called a detuned cab.... very large sound

  • I dont gew how taking out 2 speakers makes it a larger sound

  • Great playing what is the first Song? do have any Tabs or scales for it?

  • hum ? 2-speaker 4x12 ? does it works well ? what are the advantages and drawbacks ??

    your 2205 sounds awesome ...

  • I'm such an asshole. Ive blown my money on the wrong shiet. I have a empty JCM800 head cabinet and empty 1960B cabinet sitting in my room for almost a year now.

  • wow i love the cab lololz

  • your playing kicks ass too keep it up.

What were the settings on your dd-2? I've got a 2204 and a DD-2 but I always have trouble getting that type of reverberation from my DD-2.

  • that sound is amazing...

  • beatufull sound!!!

    how is setting the volume?

  • that cabinet looks like a pile of shit

  • ha agreed. sounds good but.

  • I couldn't agree more

  • hi!can you tell me the diference between jcm 800 2203 and jcm 2210?thanks a lot

  • 2203= 1channel, 100W,

2210= 2channel, 100w, reverb, channel With a stage more of gain

  • I have listened that the 2210 has more valves..is that true?

  • 5 - 12ax7, 4 - el34

  • 2205 = ????

  • ah ok,

  • I bet you're a Kirk Hammett fan. Whatever you do DO NOT listen to him, his vibrato is the worst. Check out George Lynch, Yngwie, John Sykes, Jake E Lee, Gary Moore, all have great vibrato.

  • Kirk hammet to encounter bad, I like zakk wylde, van halen, johnny winter, steve Vai, gary moore

  • is this a song if so what and by who

  • the song is 20% steve vai 80% my

  • dude at the begining what song are you playing its right there in my mind..but i cant seem to think of it..it sounds soo familiar...and its bothering me lol..soo i ya could let me know..i would appreciate it

  • Awesome playing dude! Very tasty! And with the delay, that amp sounds like it could easily be cranked in a huge stadium! Can't wait to get my 2205!

  • nice cab, man im that tone is so good. jcm 800 forever screw the 2000

  • mate, too much vibrato

  • also, what kind of cab is that specifically? great sound by the way - it sounds like soooo may records - you want even want to boost it - tubescreamer anyone?

  • what's the advantage of having the front diagonals open like that? I've only heard of open back cabinets...

  • Ok... finish building your cab and cut your string ends off!! LOL!! Sounds AWESOME man!! Beautiful Marshall tone!!

  • Wow! What a sound! Someone near by is buying one of these amp, but I a bit a nervous about the clean channel... can you a clean tone out of these amp? Ala red hot chili peppers?

Please do another video of this amp on the clean channel!

  • thats great sound.maybe marshall should make open back speaker cabs.

  • what are your settings on the dd-2?

  • are you using an overdrive pedal? I've never heard a JCM800 with that much gain before.

  • Do not use any overdrive, this is the advantage of jcm800 2205, a stage has more power

  • Ah cool, never knew that. My JCM800 2203 has barely more gain than a JMP! Anyway man, good playing and good tone!

  • the reason the 2205 has more gain is because it's not an all tube amp, it distorts with clipping diodes like the JMP-1...

even due to that, it's not a bad amp..

  • i think it's one of the best amps around!

  • You don't know what are you saying, this amp has 5 pre-amp valves ECC83 and 4 EL34, don't write silly things please another time.

  • obviously you haven't had a look at the schematics of this amp...so please don't reply when you don't know a shit.

  • Don't tell more silly tnings, maybe you are confuse with an chinesse amp. Or you read schematics by reverse.

  • the truth is silly?

take a look at the schematics and then we can talk. Marshall JCM 800 2205 and 2210 have clipping diodes for the distortion.

  • i thought that they didn't add clipping diodes until after 1985?
