  • the most homoerotic rock song until judas priest's eat me alive lol

  • Astonishing. I remember Bozzio played The Black Page, but I'd never heard this one, so did't know he was a singer and comedian.

Must have been hard for Bewel to play second fiddle to Frank, but at the 8 minute mark, Zappa is killin'. That a Gibson SG? Beautiful toe and control.

Sure must have been hot! Terry's in his undies LOL!

  • I used to love Missing Persons, it's cool that Zappa saw Bozzio's talent.

  • he's a little fond of chiffon in a wrist array.

    a wrist a-raaaaaayay ay yay.....

  • i promise not to cum in your mouth.

  • oh punky. ha i got to see bozzio live at ZPZ 06' with napolean murphy brock too. ive been 3 years in a row now.

  • This is my Favorite Song of Zappa Live in New York

I love the Dancin of Zappa & Belew

Terry Bozzio was so funny back in 1977 drumming and singing at the same time

His Drumming in the 5 th Minute is great

Is this Song on the Baby Snakes CD ?

  • its on the DVD

  • Lol On this video I see a genius crazy Adrian Belew (since 1881 voice & guitar in King Crimson) to play a second guitar here dressed with a skirt. Lol Lol...

Crazy video. :) Admire Terry and Frank!

Greetings from Bulgaria to all of You! :)

  • awesome! the zappa in new york cd version is my favorite of this song. fucking epic

  • what a fine array of talent

    (a wrist array lol)

  • He was a

    Very nice boy...

    He used to

    Cut my grass...

    He was a

    Very nice boy...

  • Terry is a mad man!

  • Terry: is there, today, a professionel drummer who gets on stage with broken cymbals and playing this energetic? Love it. And i´m not a queer. And would probably come in his mouth.

  • How old was terry?

  • born in 1950. This was the Zappa 1977 Halloween special? 27? Is that right?

  • ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its just so awesome!

  • SKIN DOOB!

  • :::jaw drops:::  AMAZING!

  • Zappa in New York Version is so much better ...

  • "i promise not to come in your mouth!"

  • i had the same video in my channel and YouTube removed it :(

  • Bozzio is amazing. Frank had the best musicians in his bands.

  • 6:10 ftw

  • LOL @ 3:37

  • FUCK!!! I HATE the tone of Tommy Mars' synthesizer.

  • I LOVE ZAPPA AND BOZZIO

This is one of Zappa's best line-ups, and Punky's Whips is such a good tune, in all aspects. If you don't have baby Snakes, get it ASAP, amazing concert footage with this band!

  • Frank Zappa was a genius. Bozzio is awesome!!!

  • My guess is that they are not, at least belew and bozzio, i dunno the others.

    But who cares anyways?

  • haha poor Bozzio...

  • This clip is fuckin awesome, Bozzio at his best.

  • Qzapp had to dumb down Zappa's solo. It's one of the most amazing things about this track...not to take anything away from Bozzio's drumming. Check out the DVD.

  • Well I've yet to hear anyone cover FZ's solo's to the T...he was notorious for never playing the same solo twice...which is a lot of the reason that he recorded ALL of his live performances. Almost all of his solo's are live takes, FZ himself has said countless times that he can't play a solo in the studio. ZPZ does an amazing job of playing FZ's music!

  • yet zappa still draws a crowd and he's dead and all the Angel people are still alive and can hardly draw a crowd.

  • Punky Meadows Rules!

  • Frank should have never quit playing that SG. Got that guitar has some great friggin' tone.

  • yes, like another guy stated back onthe comment list . frank and terry liked angel !it was a joke .. angel was a great band !punky was kiss's first pick for lead guitar before ace . he said no ! then joined angel with his friend greg on key's . check out their music , punky was a awesome guitarest ! remember zappa was joking ..thats the true story .

  • The lyrics are portraying kind of the same problem with The Jonas Brothers, and their fangirls.

  • haha you're so right. Thumbs up for that comment!

  • "pootched out succulence of his insolent pouting rictus...." Angel? What the hell kind of band was this? I think they may the fathers of Poison.

  • classic

  • fantastico

  • FOUND THIS ON SOME WEBSITE Punky Meadows Punky MeadowsAKA Edwin Lionel Meadows Born: 6-Feb-1950 Birthplace: Washington, DC Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Guitarist Nationality: United States Executive summary: Pouting guitarist, Angel Subject of the Frank Zappa song Punky's Whips. Now operates the TanFastic Tanning Club in Oakton, VA.
  • saw bozzio do this one with zappa plays zappa a few years ago and i almost crapped myself it was so good

  • Bozzio holding the mic with one hand and drumming with the other... take that Def Leppard.

  • Fucking awesome.

  • My favorite part of Baby Snakes! Thanks for posting this!

  • mmm i can smell my sister

  • Zappa/Bozzio: Ten thousand stars!!

  • Ha ha ha, this song is funny. Zappa in New York FTW!

  • i always knew that Buddy Love guy was a weirdo...

  • I Don't hear a single. The guy with the pony tail has a cool flanger.

  • i think it's probably the best version of this song, i don't really like the version frome the cd ''läther''

  • Zappa music is cool but silly. Great music, yet very silly.

Angel just sucks really bad! I'm glad Zappa/Bozzio made this song.

  • Angel were a great band,Zappa liked them,he was just jokin

  • Man, Bozzio never ceases to amaze me. To sing like that while not missing a single beat on the kit. Amazing musician.

  • steven tyler would pay to see

  • I know Terry Bozzio's son...I went to High School with him.

  • he is not as ephusive as he was in 1978 NY...way funnier then...

  • Awesome song.. Love the drummer!!!

  • its cool to watch this, but the "Live in NY" version is something like 400 times better. In this one looks like they are tired of it, not enjoying to play it...

  • I love the baby snakes version

  • yeeaaaaahhhHHHHHHHH

  • I love you for uploading this.

  • Lol! type "Punky Meadows" in a google image search and the first picture that comes up is the very picture they talk about at the start haha!

  • the bass on this song rules

  • Promotional Devices = Irreparable Scars

  • I LOL'd when they went into the melody of "Isn't it Romantic" at around 2 min

  • One of the best guitar solos ever! Frank signed my tandem bike,Blaney High School circa 1979-80.Gave a speech, rip frank! I always had a thing for Angel lead singer, his hair was sooo cool...

  • LMAO off at 1:20.

  • Dont know if Bozzio is gay(just check out Dale Bozzios spread in Hustler....)I have seen Bozzio in many clinics, very talented, very strange. but I much prefer Barry Brandt(ANGEL). Seriously...I dont care much about polyrhythms, how about Cozy Powell,Camine Appice?

  • turn the volume up!!!!

  • Absolutely fucking hilarious.

  • yea

  • wow the drummy is in his scivvys thats awsome.

  • One of the most amazing performances ever committed to film.

  • the perfect show.

  • One of Zappa's all time funniest songs. I dont believe Terry is/was gay. Pretty much all the music Zappa did was satire. This I believe is no exception. Besides, Adrian Belew is the one walking around in drag and he's strait too.

  • The song is most certainly making fun of Punky Meadows and the band Angel. Essentially saying that the band looked like girls and that some guys might like the members in the band for reasons other than their music... Listen to the lyrics a few times and that should be obvious. If that isn't obvious enough, I bet you could probably find something on the internet to basically flesh out what I've just said.

  • So THIS is where the whole "Bozzio is gay"-thing got started...

  • Was this in NYC?

  • Yes. Halloween, 1977, at the Palladium.

  • How old was Bozzio at this time?

  • i think the drummer has his skivvies on.

  • LOL u said Skivvies

  • That's what was missing from my day. Terry Bozio in his underwear and Adrian Belew in drag. Great song though. Only these guys could pull something like this off. Too bad there's no more humor in music. Zappa was the coolest.

  • I promise not to cum in your mouth!

  • "HE'S MORE FLUID THAN JEFF BE-AHCK !

  • Omg. So amazing. The skill and the ease!

  • This is a great piece of music! Funny, obscene, musically brilliant, and great commentary on commercial music.

This may be the best single performance by a rock drummer ever! Zappa was truly a genuis!

    Who is today's Zappa?

  • Zappa never ceases to amaze me. I genuinely wish there were more artists like him these days. However, Zappa has enough albums to keep me occupied for a lifetime. ;] 5 stars.

  • man, people who talk about bohemian rhapsody and stairway to heaven should listen to this beauty

  • Bozzio is fucking insane!

  • damn it, i Love this song, but i've turned it up full volume and it's still too quiet :(

Frank Zappa, this generation needs you.

  • where is the part when frankk does a 3-5 min long guitar solo???

i saw another clip with much faster speed, how can that be ???

plz replay since i must now !

  • Zappa would often change the tempo of the songs. What you saw was probably a different version.

  • Lmao.

    I Still Love This Song.

Bozzio looks just like a small child.

    Its so cute! :D

  • what a nice bunch o tuna sandwichs they are, lets eat, drink too

  • Unbelievable performance by Bozzio... What a drummer!

  • so fuking gay but.... wath a drummer go terry follow your buttertfly jajaja

  • ...where everyone looks the same......

  • lol @ the lone Angel nutswinger..

  • I'm sorry but Zappa shouldn't just be considered as a guitarist, he is one of the most genius composers of our age and can probably write stuff thats way better than Angel, who cares if his Drummer joined Korn at his age. I just watched a clip of angel just to be sure, and their guitarist is good, the drummer is good, and the rest of the band wears retarded costumes that make them look like cross dressers... I rest my point. You probably haven't even listened to much of Zappa's work anyways.

  • Never mind... He's a little fond of chiffon in a wrist array-ee-ay-ee-ay :)

  • haha, that's perfect, even shows the incredible talent of Zappa while still insulting the ignorant child.

I only need to cite one thing to prove Zappa's brilliance (Wikipedia): During Angel's 30+ years they released 15 total albums. Now, that's a decent number for a rock group.

Frank Zappa, on the other hand, requires an entire page ("Frank Zappa discography") to fit his credits. And all of his songs were at least as good as Angel's. Not to mention the 100+ people Zappa had in his Family

  • Angel lick it.

    End.

  • korn??? you're an idiot

  • Terry Bozzio worked with Korn on their 2007 album. He only did the studio work though, he's not an actual member of the band.

  • hah. troll.

  • Hang yourself sucker!

  • Zappa wasn't trying to take on the music industry with this song. Terry fell in love with the picture of a very pretty guy. That's all. And he wanted him to get funky and yank it.

  • I've been into his music since I was around 9 or 10 years old.

  • SKIN DOOM! hahaha

  • 0620-0624 time-warp.

  • Im only 14 and I love Zappas work If even 13, 14, even 15 year olds love his work then he must not suck

  • Im only 14 and I love Zappas work If even 13, 14, even 15 year olds love his work then he must not suck

  • Zappa Was One of The strangest And Greatest Musicians I Have Heard. I Thank my Father For Playing It At Me.

    Long Live Zappa

  • Frank was a keen business man indeed, he just had a product which was hard to sell. Still he refused adapt his product to the market. Thank you Frank!

  • So funny that everyone thought he was non commercial when he made Saturday Night Live twice and countless TV interviews and he writes an album called Strictly Commerical...he ran for the president of yugoslavia...take just a closer look at his life smart people like thealphacenturi. Tired of dumbass youtube comment wars so I end with that. Study his real career and stop giving your opinion smart people. Very accomplished man Frank was.

  • He did not run for president of yugoslavia, he was appointed as a consultant for trade, culture and tourism in Czechoslovakia.

  • A Genius

  • I love Frank Zappa

  • I was a huge Angel and Zappa fan back in the 70's.Many bands I dug in the 70's looked fruity (Dolls, Marc Bolan) I never took it personally when people said they were gay, talentless or in Angels case prettier than the girls in the audience. This song is funny because, let's face it, Punky did look like a chick, and I'm sure he was aware of it himself.Hell I would have happily worn a dress to be in Angel.I'd guess Punky himself considers this song a great honor. I know I would if were about me.

  • "Zappa is an idiot."

Oops, you misspelled your own name.

  • LOL your a champion and so not surprised you like Angel. Guess you liked Bay City Rollers too huh ?

  • Pah.

    Like Zappa Sucks.

Come On Mate, I'm Not Even 18 yet And i love His Work.. Yeh That'll Be Weird For Pretty Much Anyone Reading This. A kid Who Enjoys Zappa. Well I Do. And He Most Deifnatyl does Not Suck.

  • It's really a shame that you think music isn't supposed to be satirical. Zappa was a innovator, and completely ignoring his obvious talent because he insulted a band you're keen on is probably the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. Your closeminded opinion is null and void.

  • "Producing satire is kind of hopeless because of the literacy rate of the American public"

  • Erm Fuc you how could zappa not make fun of them look at the singer

  • I do...Frank took no one's shit...that is why he was a bad ass and everyone knew it. Anyone who thought he was jealous of Angel needs to get a head check.

  • If you're offended by this song then you don't know Zappa

  • You've got that right. I hate that frank made fun of people, it really hurt his image and his career but you have to admit the music is very clever. I like Punky...he plays a clean guitar. Pretty song You're Not Foolin' Me. Bashing is never cool.

  • "I hate that frank made fun of people, it really hurt his image and his career but you have to admit the music is very clever."

No, it was the fact he wasn't commercial that didn't help, but rather made him a legend.

  • In fact when I listen to Punky I can only think that he seriously emulates Brian May from Queen...all the harmony effects he uses on his guitar. He wasn't fresh, neither was Lynch from Dokken. They were Van Halen wannabes. Very good players...solid players, but you hardly hear anybody talk about the two of them anymore. Kids are still flooding to see ZPZ for themselves. Somehow relive the experience of how great the original band must have been. Listen to Strictly Genteel by Frank.

  • I bet the drummer from Angel is not endorsed by Vic Firth and I bet Punky Meadows career is not as big as Steve Vai. I bet Punky wishes he was Steve Vai. I am not bashing...I'm telling the truth. Angel is not comparable with Frank and the Mothers. You rate Angel with a Band like Night Ranger and they are still not that good. Their singer looks like Paul Stanley from KISS. Their following must be very faithful, but so is Frank's. He shouldn't have bashed Punky, but he was the better guitarist.

  • Let me give you both a reply...Frank is known as one of the greatest musicians and composers of the 20th century I've been asking people if they've ever heard of Angel...not one person has ever heard of them. They're not a big deal...their songs are still good all the same, but they are not a big deal...Frank was a big deal and still is. His ZPZ tour is bigger and has more people attend than any Angel concert nowadays and he's been dead 15 years. Better musicians my ass.

  • Lol.

Terry Always Reminds Me Of A Small Child

    O.o

With A Deep Voice And A Gift For drums

  • Lol.

  • FRANK ZAPPA THE BEST

  • FRANK ZAPPA THE BEST

  • If he "Ain't queer" why is he dressed like that?? In his little black panties ;p Seriously, Terry's a phenominal drummer. Great music but what's the point of all the "Punky Meadows" bashing??

  • Damn, I'm wearing similiar panties right now...under my jeans.

  • The point was that Angel had much better songs and musicians than Frank Zappa and his songs like "don't eat that yellow snow"

  • Oh dear god I hope this was sarcasm.

  • This is like a musical

  • This Is Baby Snakes Vid..

    Not Live In New York.

    I Got the Live CD

    Totally Different

    ^^

  • This vid cracks me up everytime I watch it. Terry Bozzio is such an amazing drummer. The funny thing is, I remember listeming to Angel as a teenager and thinking that they were kinda cool. I realize now how horribly wrong I was. Does anybody know what Punky Meadows thought of this song?

  • I heard that Punky (and the rest of Angel) thought of the song as a compliment, and a sign of being recognised by their peers or whatever. But this might be totally erroneous.

  • Punky thought the song was funny and gave Frank permission to release it but WB thought it was offensive and took it off the original release of "Zappa in New York" it was finally released when ZiNY was re-released in 1993.

  • Rules.

  • I wonder if this vid's from that "Live in New York, New York"? Is there anyone out there that knows anything about it? And so, why isn't it possible to purchase the whole concert, I mean if it was filmed on location it would be no problem for the Zappa Foundation to have it down on a DVD and out there for the market, right?!! And by the way, it's so cool that FZ had Adrian Belew in his band, and I think this is one of Franks best stage-setting bands he ever had...

  • It's from the "Baby Snakes" DVD.

  • lol i promise NOT CUM IN YOUR MOUTH LOL

  • One of my fave performances ever.

  • Same here

  • see 1:21 lol

  • adrian belew dancing around in a trech coat... the amount of talent on that stage...

  • sweet fuckin drumming with one hand. Terry Boxxio owns

  • 74 band with napy and duke was my favorite frank era but this baby snakes concert and tour with bozzio comes in a close second in my book.

  • Bass player is Patrick O'hearn ?

  • Great bassist!!!!!!

  • Cheers Unsubscribed.

I Knew it Wasn't Live in NEw York.

    I Have The Live Album,

    I cHecked LAst Night.

    Totally Different.

  • Not a damn ounce of body fat on Bozzio's skinny little frame.

  • this is holloween NYC from the Baby Snakes dvd

  • You can link to Angel videos in the "related" column. Choice.

Punky's axe is top sirloin from the groin.

  • I would rather here a tailpipe draggihg.

  • Does Anyone Know What Concert This Was?

    Or Know What Year?

  • Yeah, this was "in New York" 1977.

    Terry is the Man

  • Nah It Wasn't..?

I've Got The CD Of New York 1977..

    Sounds DIfferent.

    But Cheers.
