I just remembered how I was bothered by the fact that she kept his gloves but they were never mentioned again. You'd think she'd either 'cling' onto them, or offer to give them back. I did kinda notice that he never wore gloves after that, did he?

I suppose if you were to analyze it, the black-and-white vs. color Thornton clips (as opposed to Margaret's) have a slightly different meaning. The colorized clips are generally moments of hightened affection or inclination towards the other character...
whereas the black-and-white clips are feelings of dissapointment or dislike. Thornton's are usually more of the love and affection/ dissapointment variety,...
I created this video in the wee hours of the morning, so it might not be a beautifully crafted metaphor, but the video generally keeps with the pattern I just described.
Thanks for the explanation ... colour as metaphor for the sentiments of Thornton and Margaret. I watched the video again with this thought in mind and I enjoyed it even more!
This song is so popular w/youtube mv's. But, I will say, with the North & South clips, its something else! :)

while Margaret's are geared towards moments of dislike/realization (of Thornton's positive qualities) and growing affection. I hope that helps...
