I cant wait for the cars to get 25 yrs old so they can be imported to the U.S. and used on the road without the D.O.T. scrapping them. (While each state doesn't mind, D.C.'s Dep. of Transportation seems to scrap any GTR that drives the public roads. Currently only "track-only" or show cars are allowed into the states.) Come on, make it to 25!

They are banned on the streets because they were not crash tested here for certification for imports. Even though they have been tested in the JDM and the famous German Racetrack, not here. So the DOT will not allow them other than as show cars or track only cars. Smuggled R32-34 are caught and scrapped. Reassembled ones get killed too. One would have to modify it extensively to exceed DOT specs to convince them. And to do so would mean crash testing a few to prove the mods make it safe.

However, wait for the car to turn 25 and it is a classic car that does not need to be modified to run the streets. (Strange little law that lets in Euro rare cars that can be applied to JDM Skylines.) See them go up in price around August 2014 for the 89 R32 and then onward. . .

Thats why its sweet to live in Canada. They only have to be 15 yrs old to import them. R32s are dirt cheap here. R33s will be here soon and in 2014 we will be able to import R34s. But remember there are loop holes to every law.

Not really.  There are legit Skylines here in the states but the loops the owners had to go through, whether it be show cars only or track only. Besides, no matter the price, Americans will seek them out once they turn 25.

OMG, the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 V Spec.II is my absolute FAV!!!!! I agree, the R32 really needs High-Strength Sway Bars. The Skyline GT-R R34 is a fun car, with insane capabilities, but the ride isn't all that good. Don get me wrong, I like the Skyline GTRs, but they're just to heavy, + the uneven weight distribution, which causes uneven tyre wear. The 4WD system's too clever for it own good, its has a mind of its own - at and over the limit. The biggest problem however, is the wheelbase, is just too long (given its chassis share with the skyline saloon for R30 32 33 & 34), thats just killed the agilely. Sadly i think weight issue will continue in the upcoming GTR.
